  1. Yes, I encountered this behaviour too. I went to audio preferences and selected 'alternative' input and output audio settings temporarily, then reset the audio settings to what they originally were, and the input monitoring buttons reappeared. It does seem to do with changing the input/output devices. barry
  2. Hi Good idea to write over the old template file. I'll try that. I notice when I bring up my Library panel that my aux settings are not listed as an option to save as a patch. Only my channel strip settings. How would I get my aux setting strips with plugins etc to become available in the library panel? Barry
  3. Hi I am enjoying a mixing course and learning how to create instrument buses which can be applied to new projects. The advice, once I have created my set of instrument buses is to store them as a template to use with new songs. This works ok, but if I find myself improving the instrument buses as I learn more from the mixing course, how do I then update my original template? I can't find any way to select my set of 7 or 8 instrument buses with FX and copy them over to my template so my improvements are captured? I searched around for a way to save a set of buses. If I select a group of buses and right click there is an option to 'save as default' but that doesn't seem to go anywhere, neither does the 'apply user default'. How can I save a set of instrument buses with FX either into my original template or some other way, so I can apply them to a new mixing project? any help appreciated. Barry
  4. Just been to the Acoustica website.... their editor seems fantastic ... particularly the spectrum editor ... a really handy resource. many thanks barry Use an audio editor for that, if that's what you're really looking to do. SingleWAV multiple channels.png Unless you're looking to mixdown several audio files for mastering, then you'd need to use an audio program that supports that. Seperate WAVs for a Mixdown.png I kind of wish Apple would update SoundTrack Pro.
  5. Thanks for all this information and for taking the time to explain the background behind the multi channel wav format. Some very useful things to think about. I will keep exploring these ideas. barry
  6. I haven't yet used them personally, but I have read they can be very useful for 'packaging' tracks that can be read by a range of other DAW's - also, I read that the 'wav' format means the original files retain their integrity, not needing compression into mp3's for sharing? I see that quite a few of the other DAW's offer the facility to produce multi track wav's. I might investigate these a bit to see what is involved a bit more. b
  7. that's done ... thanks for the link. barry
  8. thanks, that might be something to put on the 'nice to have' list? I hear that those kinds of wav files are being used more and more?
  9. Hi I know that multi channel wav files can be dropped into Logic for reading, but can Logic create them? thanks Barry
  10. Hi many thanks for this. Will give that a go. barry
  11. HI I have recently been experiencing a strange problem. I've search on the forum but similar problems are not quite the same. If I work on a single track by muting all the others and soloing the track I want to work on, when I try to cntrl unmute all the tracks then the sound completely goes, even though the tracks are not muted? If I close down Logic and reload the track, then all the tracks are unmuted and live again? Any ideas or suggestions? barry
  12. hi, that's interesting as I've been opening a few projects at a time for some years using LP, so don't know what might have changed. I did export the problem project from Cubase using the Cubase export function which saves the tracks in a form that can be used by Logic Pro. I suspect this has somehow clashed with Project B, which is a normal project. Thanks for your comments, helpful.
  13. Hi I have a curious problem. This is only happening to one project. (project A). If I load another project (project B) that plays fine, but when I return to Project A (to borrow some extracts for project B) I find if I click on any track, attempt to play anything etc. then a dialogue box comes up saying 'loading plugins'. This happens whenever I click anywhere on the project window. If I go back to project B, I can click on anything and it works without a dialogue box. That only happens in project A. If I load project A on its own, then it plays normally. This problem only happens if I open a second project? any ideas what is causing this? Barry Logic Pro 10
  14. Hi there Back in the driving seat in Bristol, UK, for a few hours. I have been able to work an unpowered vocal mic direct into Babyface and this connects ok with the Daw. So the input and output in the Babyface are working fine. I have juggled the optical connection, and no difference, no connection. On Focusrite OmniPre, the clock is set to 44.1, and in my Daw, the project setting is also 44.1 in my RME Fireface App the sample rate is set for 44.1 also. So they all line up. As Pioki has indicated, as the Babyface iinput and outputs are working it does seem to be an issue with optical connection. I attach screenshots of my RME Fireface USB app settings, also my Mac audio midi set up app input and output. any further ideas would be appreciated. Barry
  15. thanks for this, very late here in the UK, about to sleep, so I will look further into this on Sunday afternoon.... hopefully with good news, but I will do a screenshot then. many thanks for your help Barry
