  1. Wow, I'm still pretty new to Logic's Score Editor so I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Layout Tool! Thanks very much for taking the time to answer this puzzling question! Much appreciated.
  2. Every so often when I go to move a score object like a chord, SOME objects behave very strangely and seem to want to "link" (correct term?) to a different part of the score and/or will simply not move where my cursor is. Here's a screen recording of the anomaly ---> The first chord I move behaves normally and easily "links" to whatever beat it is nearest to. The second chord however seems linked to objects several lines up and as you can see in the end will not even follow my cursor position and instead snaps/links to the end of the line above it when it try to move it. What's going on? How do I fix it? Thanks so much, smart people!
  3. Yes, this worked. Thank you! Looking at the green segments, they contain syxex info - no values though, other than "Ta Horng Musical Instrument". I've had someone here recently w a USB Midi Drum Kit and a synth. Maybe it's one of those, but far as I know, there is nothing currently sending midi to logic. Final thing: is there a way to have Logic only record on record-button-activated tracks and not on tracks that are only selected but not record enabled? Yes I'm wondering the same thing. This happens to me all the time. I forget I have an audio track selected (which automatically record arms it), and then I arm a MIDI track to record into, and after I record end up with a bunch of sysex info overlapping the existing audio region. Not a huge problem, but would be nice if record-arming a track also de-selected any previous selected tracks, OR if simply selecting a track did not also record-arm it. Screenshot attached, with the vocal track being audio and the drum track being MIDI, BOTH record armed because I had the vocal track selected when I armed the MIDI drum track.
  4. You're my hero, David! Having this same issue, for similar reasons as reported in the original question. Not a huge deal, but that overlapping green MIDI region was driving me nuts and I just wanted to delete it, but was unable to do so without delete the audio region it overlapped. Your suggestion got me half way there, and then once I made Groups inactive for this track, I was able to delete just the MIDI region. Thanks a bunch!
  5. Hey Everyone. I've just recorded some string players, and the performances are a bit out of key at points. I'd like to use Logic's Pitch Correction plugin, but since I used two mics on each instrument, I'm not sure of the best way to make the multiple instances of the Pitch plugins link up so that if I, for example, temporarily disable a note in one of my violin tracks, it will also disable it in the corresponding plugin for the second violin track. Would love your thoughts on this. Thanks!
  6. Wow! Thanks so much for doing this and sharing it with all of us! This may be a really dumb question, but how do I actually load up one of these IR's in Space Designer, now that the folder is copied to Users > Library > Audio > Impulse Responses. If someone could give me a simple walk though it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  7. Yep, that was the problem! I had my screensets in my template locked. Unlocked the one I wanted, Customized the transport, saved as template, opened a new project and Voila, there was my Software Monitoring button right where I left it. Thanks a ton!
  8. Hey Everyone, I'm using an AmpliTube2 plugin on one of my current projects and every time I play back the track, I get this undesirable reverb sound BEFORE the audio region even begins. It sounds a bit like a reverb artifact from the end of the region getting played in FRONT of the region, before the playhead even reaches it. Would love any suggestions on how to get rid of this! Thanks! David
  9. Hey Everyone, Pretty much every time I use Logic, I control-click the transport bar to Customize it, and add the "Software Monitoring" button to the transport bar. It finally occurred to me to just make this change in my Project Template file so that I don't have to do it every time. However, after making the change, I opened a new project with that template, and the "Software Monitoring" button was gone from the transport bar. How do I get these changes to stick so that they're still there next time I open up a project? Thanks! David
  10. Hey Everyone, Looks like I figured it out. For some reason, the .mp4 file i was dragging in from iTunes was somehow being recognized by Logic as an Apple Loop. I noticed the little icon of the two overlapping circles with horizontal lines on top and bottom at top top of the region. I tried bouncing the audio as an AIFF file, then dragged the resulting bounce file into the arrange window and was able to manipulate it to my hearts content within the sample editor! Thanks for the suggestions!
  11. Hey All, I'm trying to play a Radiohead song in reverse. I've dragged the file from iTunes into the arrange window, and it plays back fine, but when I select the audio region, open the sample editor, and try to choose Functions>Reverse, the option is greyed out. Incidentally ALL the options in the top section of the menu are greyed out. Any idea why/how to fix this? Thanks!
  12. Had to play around with it for a minute but now it's working great. Thanks!
  13. Hey Everyone, I'm working on a short cue here and I'm trying to make an ascending (diatonic) harp sweep that spans two octaves in a single beat (i feel like there's an actual musical term for this but it's escaping me right now). Is there a way to use the transform window to space out the 14 different notes evenly within the span of one beat, thus creating the sweep effect? Would appreciate any suggestions to achieve this effect without going in and manually spacing out each note! Thanks! David
