  1. Nope that doesn't work either. If I select another track whilst its playing and turn the dial none of the filter cutoffs move.
  2. Ive tried selecting all the tracks, tried selecting the track stack, mapped all the filter cutoffs etc to the same knob and yeah can only control 1 filter cutoff at a time. Im not sure if this would cause issues but I have some other midi devices attached in my studio, namely the fader port and the Softube console one as well as a usb midi going to the Moog and a UM one controlling my JP8k midi transit.
  3. Okay so I can assign the dial on my keyboard to control the filter cutoff. But it can only control one cutoff at a time, this seems to be dependant on what track I have selected. In terms of the link you sent, the area that's not working or step, is when I try to assign the dial on my midi controller to the smart knob. Like in the box where you have to assign it, once I touch the dial it fills with text (im guessing of whatever the midi command etc is) but it doesn't move the smart control dial.
  4. Nope its sending, just nothing moving if I do the smart controls or it just controls one parameter at a time depending on which synth I have selected.
  5. Also I tried following the guide in the link you posted step by step. So as soon as I try to assign one of the smart controls to any dial on my midi keyboard it won't work.It says in the link you posted after I click learn and start moving the dial, the smart control should move as well but this doesn't happen. Honestly it might just be easier to use automation than this frustrating experience.
  6. Sorry could you explain how to do this? At the moment im touching the cutoff in spire, going to control surface and moving the dial, it then learns. It says its already assigned etc so I put keep. How do I do it so that the one knob controls the different cutoffs in the different synth layers? Im really struggling here and feel like ive tried everything. As I said it seems to only control the cutoff of whichever synth I have open. Maybe if there's a way to have all the different synths open at the same time instead of just 1 by 1 It can do what I need it to do? This seems extremely frustrating and complex compared to cubase/studio 1
  7. Hi sorry, but your explanation on the smart controls is way too complicated for media really haven't got a clue how to do it and tried following your link but yeah I cant do it. In terms of the first method mentioned, like I said I assigned, the filter cutoff on 4 different spires to a nob. Whenever I move the nob on my midi its only moving the cutoff of whatever the last synth was that I had selected. It won't seem to move them all at the same time. Any ideas?
  8. Hi All, So I like to layer my lead synths and then assign all the filter cutoffs to 1 knob/dial on my midi keyboard which is the Alesis A49. I can do this in studio one and in Cubase and was wondering if this is possible in logic? The idea is very simple, with one dial I can lower the cutoffs and raise them, without having to have all the synths open etc at the same time, it just always controls whatever I set the dial to controlling. Can this be done in Logic, I have worked out how to assign the filter cutoffs to the dial on my midi keyboard, but it seems to only be able to do one at a time. Also in studio one and cubase I can set how much I want the filter cutoff to open up for the individual synths, so say on plucks it only opens up half way once the dial on my midi keyboard is fully open. I can like map out custom ranges for the parameters. Can this be done in Logic in any way?
  9. I think I have the advanced tools on I’d have to double check. In terms of Apple loops. I know they automatically fit into my project with like the timing etc. But day I have a musical loop which is in C major. If I drop it into my logic project but have set that my project is in F minor, will the Apple loop automatically change to now be in Fminor or is this something I have to do manually. I can’t quite remember how Apple loops work
  10. Okay , i sorted the SSD issue, basically i just needed to unplug it. In terms of that arrow to move the timeline, i dont have it. Is there an option in the preferences i need to select to get it to show? I know in the tracks you can like select which buttons show, for example freeze etc. Maybe i need to do this?
  11. I dont seem to have a right siding arrow at the start of my timeline, could you show me a screenshot? Also in my browser, I have selected my sample folder which is on a separate ssd, whenever I say type in a search its showing 0 results? Now I have like 100000 crashes in there so I know when I type in crash in the search bar it should show something. How do I fix this?
  12. hi everyone, I have to work on a project in Logic and not used it for a few years. I have some questions and was hoping you could help me, I am only asking stuff that I haven't been able to figure out or find online. So first of all, ive been dropping some audio files in, now the timeline at the top seems to all of a sudden go below 1. and the line starts from 0. Once its gone below the default start point I dont know how to get rid of it? I dont mind adding a few bars of silence before a track starts but I would like to have the option to do it myself . This seems to happen when dropping in audio loops, I am not sure if this is due to the smart tempo settings etc. Can I double check what settings I should use to have it most similar to Ableton? At the moment I have set to Keep Project Temp and for imported audio files align to bars and beats. Now in Ableton, when you import an audio file that needs warping you have different modes of warp. So for example on a vocal you would use the Complex Pro algorithm as it sounds best, for drum loops you can just use beats. I was wondering if Logic has this? When I drop in an audio file, I get to see a preview, and input the original files bpm etc great, but it seems to be in a mode where it sounds very rough and jumpy, how can I change this and what is the best algorithm for vocals? Finally, is there a guide anywhere showing how I can detach the mixer and make it full screen, and save that as a screen which I believe I can set number hotkeys for so I can switch between the sequencer page and mixer page quickly, if there is an easier way to do this then please let me know. I feel I have used screens as last time that was the only way to do it. All help appreciated
  13. Thats gonna cost like 200 bucks to get all my licenses upgraded
  14. I bought it in the UK so not sure if it will be the same one for wherever you are. Just search laptop cooling mat on amazon.
  15. So I’ve been working on it now for a few days and it’s great. I do miss the 5k screen on my iMac as everything just looked a lot nicer but in terms of the processing. I’m running a project that was maxing out my old i5 iMac. It’s got over 100 channels. Mix of audio channels, instrument channels and track stacks all with loads of plugins on it. The cpu meter is at about a quarter which is great. I’m running the buffer at 256 but could probably drop it to 128 but I don’t really do much live stuff. What is interesting if I set it to playback only the cpu spikes where as if I do playback + live it runs a lot better. Great machine! It does run a bit hot but I have bought one of those silent cooling mats with the fans in it. They run silently and it gives great air circulation for the Mac mini and awesome cooling all via 1 usb. Anyway would highly recommend but don’t be a cheapskate like me and just buy a 4k monitor!
