  1. Here's a link to the Apple help page about spreading load over multiple cores https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201838 But I suspect the OP's issue may be because you have the instrument channel strip selected, so Logic is in Live Input Mode for that channel and is expecting you to play it. The workaround being, as in the above linked help page, to create an empty audio channel and select that when not needing to live input to an instrument channel. Hope that helps.
  2. A fair point, but the 2i2 automatically expects mic level if an XLR is plugged in. The line/inst switch only matters if a jack is plugged in. OP - Are you getting the green halo ring around the gain knob to show that signal is getting to the interface from the mic? Have you tried input one? First thing though, turn your volume and gain (and headphone) level down while doing tests. If something suddenly sparks into life you could do damage to yourself or your equipment.
  3. It might not be better for some, just different. The same as there is sometimes a myriad of ways to do the same function in Logic, using key commands or menus. For me, the use of my control surface means I can effectively move 8 faders independently - try doing that with a mouse and I quite like the use of knobs for adapting parameters inside virtual instruments. But there are still some functions that I prefer doing with my trackpad. Consider though, you have to move the mouse pointer to the pan or volume, click/hold and then drag - still sounds like 3 movements for 1 action to me. Horses for courses.
  4. I would suggest that there may be other elements to the installation deeper in the system that you can't see. The official Waves installer (and if it is v.9 it will now be the legacy installer) will always be the most efficient way of getting them to run correctly. You will also need to use Waves Central to manage the licences required for the plugins.
  5. It might be that you are hearing the direct signal from the keyboard via your Scarlett interface. Go to the Focusrite Control app and mute the hardware input there.
  6. Usually, outboard headphone amps expect a line level signal and not the headphone amp level from your interface. I'm not sure what benefit you will get from using anything other than the headphone outs on the Apollo, unless the onboard amp can't drive your headphones properly or you need multiple sets of headphones connected.
  7. How are you playing the bounced version back on the MBA? If it's through iTunes, could you have the Equaliser set to anything other than flat?
  8. Even with nothing plugged in/no signal, applying gain to an input channel will introduce some noise that is inherent in the pre-amp, as gain is quite course in its nature. If you close Logic and just have the Focusrite Control app open, you can monitor the inputs direct from the interface. In the "Output Routing" tab you can add the Hardware Inputs you want to monitor by clicking on the '+' sign for whichever Output is selected on the left-hand side. It is here that you can also solo and mute individual inputs.
  9. I was really interested in the Icon M range when they were first released, due to the form factor and the modular design if you wanted to start small and then expand. But there appeared to be several problems with the build quality as skijumptoes mentioned, with units arriving warped and so not sitting flat, noisy faders etc (see this rather extensive thread over on GS: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/product-alerts-older-than-2-months/1109985-icon-pro-audio-platform-m-now-shipping-6.html), the lack of Mac software at the time and good tech support. In the end I went for the X-Touch after using an X32 for live work. I know they're quite different beasts, but the build quality of the X32 is pretty good considering . The X-Touch appears to essentially be a Mackie clone (runs on the MCU protocol) and I'm really impressed with the integration with Logic. It's a solid unit, the faders are pretty quiet especially on quick moves (YMMV) and the jog wheel is precise, at least for how I use it. Downsides - it's a bit chunky, so much so that I've had to cut a hole in my work surface and sink it in to make it more comfortable to use. This, I guess, is down to user preference. The V-Pots are a bit more wobbly than I'd like and the scribble strips seem to have a sweet spot for viewing angle, even once you have adjusted the contrast. Finally, the LED channel meters are not really quick enough to give meaningful visual feedback, but other than that I'm impressed by it for the short amount of time I've been using it.

    Sounds more like you are hearing direct monitoring from your interface, as well as software monitoring of the track being recorded via Logic. You'll need to use one or the other, not both. What interface are you using? If you are not using any plugins I would suggest turning off software monitoring for (virtually) latency free monitoring of your live vocal during recording.
  11. Click on/select the FX channel to want to get rid of and hit backspace. A dialogue box will ask you if you're sure and click "Delete Anyway" to confirm the action.
  12. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no stock pre-amp plugins in Logic. I would go with the ones from UA seeing as you've already paid money for them.
  13. If Jordi's suggestion doesn't work, then it maybe that you actually have a MIDI loop. Are you using the analog synth as your MIDI input to the external instrument? If so you might be hearing the initial 'analog' sound as well as the MIDI note being received back from Logic at the same time. To solve this, you will need to turn 'Local' off on your analog synth.
  14. Wherever possible I secure them to the legs of the keyboard stands with re-usable cable ties. But I guess it all depends how you have stuff set up.
  15. I was just hoping that the physical output that the Aux bus was pointed at was un-muted, whereas your original outputs from the I/O plugin may have been muted. I can confirm that (with a Scarlett 18i20/Focusrite Control) I can point the output of the I/O plugin to, for example, line outs 3 & 4 and the inputs to 7 & 8 and the round trip works as expected. Maybe different as your Line 16 is on D-Subs. Have you contact Focusrite?
