  1. Oh wow, that was easy indeed! Thank you very much!
  2. Dear forum, Is it possible to assign a MIDI controller knob in a way that it will always address, say SEND 1 of the active channel strip? So far, I only got to work it this way: one physical knob on my MIDI controller is allocated to SEND 1 of ONE channel strip, no matter which channel strip is active (highlighted). In my dream scenario, that controller knob will change SEND 1 of the highlighted channel. As I have 8 knobs availabe, I would very much like to assign the others in the same fashion (knob 2 addresses SEND 2 of the highlighted channel, etc...) I see the assignment programming section of the controller assignment window is populated with lots of parameters which I suspect can be set up in a way I describe above, but which the manual fails to explain to me in a way I can understand. Any help (or pointer to a solution source) very much appreciated.
  3. Dear all, After days of googling and pulling my hair out over trial-and-error in LXP, I turn to the expertise of this forum, hoping for salvation. I am trying to find a drop-down menu that lets me choose my MIDI input device from a list of controller keyboards connected to the computer (via USB). I know from other DAWs that one can choose the actual hardware device, in addition to choosing the MIDI channel. I thought it should be in the track inspector under "Channel", where it says "inst 1" (as I have created an instrument track). But that setting is greyed out and unresponsive. All I can set is the MIDI channel below. I do NOT want to workaround by setting my input devices to different MIDI channels. I just want to tell Logic what input device to listen to and which to ignore on a specific track. Why? Well, I am working on 2 different gigs at the moment, and I am working on them simultaneously in different applications: one Logic project, using my normal MIDI keyboard for input, and one standalone MASCHINE project, using my MASCHINE controller. I switch back and forth between them. However, when I am in my MASCHINE project, whenever I hit a pad on the MASCHINE controller, Logic reacts to it and plays a note (depending on which track is active). How can I tell Logic to NOT "listen to" or react to MASCHINE? I've tried the MIDI environment, but after a while it felt like programming a NI Reaktor instrument from scratch, so I gave up after three hours and my fist clenching a sledge hammer... Please help. Thank you.
  4. Hello everyone, I was wondering if I can optimize my projects' performances by spreading their files across my system in an appropriate way. What are the best locations for the sample libraries, the movie file in my project, the recorded audio files, and the project file itself? I have a late 2013 6-core Mac Pro, running Yosemite (Sierra was terribly buggy), with 64 GB RAM and, lo and behold, a 4 TB internal SSD (from OWC). So I spent a lot of money on upgrading my system, and I bought that large internal SSD especially to spear me the hassle of connecting any external drive for libraries. So at the moment, everything is stored on the internal SSD. I was wondering if I could improve Logic's performance by for example transferring all project files to an external SSD ( I have a USB3 500 GB SSD, the Samsung 850 Evo). I have a feeling that it could improve performance if Logic didn't have to access the different types of file (especially the movie file and the audio data) all from the same internal SSD, but by separating those onto different drives. Is that true, or does it not matter? Thank you very much!
