  1. Question for you Logic Gurus about zero crossing behavior in Logic. I have recently become concerned (possibly unnecessarily so!) about phase issues when manually editing drum takes in the arrange window. The manual states that logic moves the start and end point if zero crossings is enabled. I always group my drums (I am on Logic 8 "phase locked" audio is not an option.) For my workflow if I need to move a small section of a drum take (multiple mics) I manually cut at the start point I want to move by placing the playhead and using key command for "split at playhead". if zero crossing is turned on, I assume logic always cuts there and then chooses the out point of the previous regions based on the "Zero crossings" algorithm. I notice the end of the prior regions adjust a bit but it appears my in edit point is accurate. As long as Logic does not mess with my IN edit - I feel confident things aren't being slid around. Is that the way zero crossing works when you select "split region at playhead"? searched forum and could not find a clear answer to this. thanks.
  2. hi, thanks... but i think it is precisely because as an installer is going to install a component it launches the pluggo audio unit scanner because my system now thinks that components "Open With" the Pluggo Audio unit validator, even if they are not a pluggo device. So when the scanner finds no pluggo components it says "pluggo validation failed" the installer itself quits and the component fails to install. In most cases I have been able to workaround by just grabbing the component, but I could not access the component in a couple of the installer packages. Can someone who has never installed, thought about, or touched pluggo please do this: right click on any audio unit component in the plugins folder and see what the first item is in the list of "Open With..." System Drive>Library>Audio>Plugins>Components>Right Click Component>"Open With" says ___________ ? What do you see? Thanks
  3. Can someone right-click on an Apple AU component in their plug-in folder and tell me what it is supposed to "Open With..." thanks. Why? This is a weird one. I installed pluggo runtime for my tritone digital stuff and pluggo seems to have taken over the matrix i.e. my AU components. Cycling 74, the maker of Pluggo has not responded to my requests for help. All components now show up with the pluggo icon. I recently tried to install a non-pluggo component from the manufacturer's installer, and it launched the pluggo audio unit scan application instead. This also appears to be creating other issues too, so I would like to set the finder back to the proper "open with" command but I have no idea what it is. Logic? Already repaired permissions etc. Thanks.
  4. Waves R-Bass uses "psycho-acoustic technology" to enhance the bass. I think what it is doing, in part, is tracking the low frequency content and generating harmonic content above and below the fundemaental bass note. The equivalent, in Logic, specifically deisgned to do this, is the "Sub-Bass" plug in. I use it... all the time... in moderation, (if that makes any sense!) It is really powerful and can therefore really screw stuff up! But the default setting is often quite useful with little or no tweaking. insert>plugins>specialized>sub-bass
  5. correct, for me at least, i do use relative snap more for recorded audio then midi. even if I have shifted midi timing around in a region for feel purposes, the region itself is still usually one that was originally recorded on an absolute beat.
  6. if absolute is off and you are copying and pasting regions the feel of the original take is maintained. The way I work absolute snap is OFF by default. Its a very cool feature of Logic.
  7. or you might try ricochet by audio damage, inexpensive and amazingly fun like all the audio damage products. Requires 10.4.1. Has filters and taps for each delay node. http://www.audiodamage.com/effects/product.php?pid=AD018 (No connection, just a fan!)
  8. i admit to not using takes much, but yes, i think the original take establishes the boundaries of the region and the "sub-takes" are the only ones that can be resized by swiping. Or you can "flatten" the take or "unpack to new tracks". Then you can properly resize the region start point.
  9. addictive drums pretty great and Superior 2.0 apparently shipping soon. Good time to be a fantasy drummer http://www.xlnaudio.com/ http://www.toontrack.com/
  10. what is your "drag" set too? (upper right corner of arrange window). "overlap" not "shuffle" may be the best setting...
  11. are those the white lines in the arrange page that indicate the "focus" of a control surface or control surface group? not at my workstation at the moment but I know I did not have those for a while and then for a mix I plugged in my MCU - they appeared and are now there whether or not the Control surface is on. May want to check the control surfaces help doc and see if there is a way to disable them? Control surface preferences are “com.apple.logic.pro.cs”, located in ~/Library/Preferences/Logic (saved independently from the Logic Pro Preferences file.)

  13. So apple responded, and it appears to work When the Registration page appears, click Register Now. If the computer is not connected to the internet, you should get a dialog saying - Thank You, your registration information will be sent to Apple the next time you connect to the Internet and launch this product. That should prevent the Registration screen from reappearing. Best regards, Apple What apple didn't say was the "Register Now" button is not an option until you enter an email address. I thought it was because logic could not detect an internet connection, so I never tried filling out the form. Once that email field sees an "@" symbol and a "dot" anything, the button lights up. Weird. Note that if you connect to the internet at some point it will - apparently -register. Hope this helps somebody else too... As you were.
  14. i asked santa and he told me to stop whining about the registration screen and make some music or he wouldn't bring me any plugins for Christmas. Just for the record, I have noticed that santa responds to tech support questions faster than apple. But apple did respond and I will give it a try and post back.
