  1. Hi, When I open a MIDI file that I've downloaded off the internet in Logic, it opens and assigns default instruments like the SoCal kit, Hard Rock Guitar...etc. Is there a way to change the default instruments to have logic use whatever instruments I want when opening a MIDI file? Thanks, Alex
  2. Well that makes total sense now. I downloaded a MIDI file from the internet, chopped it up then put it together in different pieces. Likely had some events preexisting and is what the lines are all about. I used your method and is very easy to remove them now. Thanks!
  3. Ya, the grey lines appeared after I joined a bunch of midi regions together that I cut from a larger midi region and indicate where those cuts were made, I don't need to see them. Deleting the control events works but seems painstaking to go through and remove them all. I'll just keep them where they are for now. Might be easier after the fact to just copy the notes to a new empty midi region later on if it really bothers me. Thanks for the tips as always guys.
  4. Seems like you're on the right track David and that's what I thought too, but I've tried to locate the culprits in the Event List and can't seem to locate exactly what it is to delete. I've uploaded a picture.
  5. Joined a bunch of midi regions together and now there are grey lines where the all the cuts were made. Looks cluttered to me and was wondering how to get rid of them? Thanks! Alex
  6. Danny/David, thank you both for your input. David...my man, that did the trick. Always a pleasure learning something new! Thanks for the continuing support guys.
  7. Thanks for your reply Danny, That will remove the view of them, but they will still be there. When I open a new empty project there are no MIDI channels open like the ones currently in the project I am showing in the image. That being said they're not supposed to be there by default and I can't seem to figure out how to permanently delete them.
  8. Hey, I noticed when I select all in the mixer I have a bunch of MIDI instrument channels that I can't select and remove. Can you please tell me how to do this? image attached... Logic Pro X 10.6.0 Big Sur Apple M1 Kind Regards, Alex Spence
  9. Thanks for checking it out. I'll do it manually as suggested and continue to work with it. Cheers!
  10. Here are the files. Thank you for your time and looking into this for me. I'm building a library with multiple MIDI regions in one project to use to easily create music. I downloaded a MIDI file off the net, loaded it up into Logic and it already has set default instruments; Drums, bass, two guitars. The bass track says (+12) on it so has been previously transposed I guess? (Note: the bass tracks is not the one that randomly transposes upon import). I've put my own Instruments on the tracks and now I want to export it to a MIDI file of my own so that I can import it back into my library project. Basically I want to just transfer the MIDI regions from one session to another regardless of the software that is assigned to it. BUT! How can I set the default instruments to load what I choose when importing? lol and if you could figure out why when importing "My MIDI file" into logic the second guitar track is transposed even though it is not in my active project that would be amazing. 11. There is no transposition set that I am aware of. The track is fine in session but after exporting to a MIDI file and importing back into Logic just one of the guitar tracks are transposed. Global tracks transpose is at zero. I just tried with a completely different session and the same thing is happening. When I imported the MIDI file back into Logic just one of the tracks (guitar track again) is bumped up 12 semitones. Weird. Is there a setting I could be unaware of?
  12. Hi, Trying to export multiple midi tracks for use later. For some reason when importing back into Logic my second guitar MIDI track is always transpose (12+) semitones. Doesn't appear that I have anything set to do this. Any ideas why this is happening? Kind Regards, Alex
  13. Hello, Is there a way to import multiple midi files to a single Instrument track without the files stacking on top of each other? When dragging and dropping MIDI files directly onto the track they overlap and It doesn't appear that you can import multiple midi files within logic? Kind Regards, Alex
  14. Power button, great idea. Thank you for the detailed explanation too. Looks like I can do everything I need now Cheers!
  15. Very cool, thank you for the quick response! That does the trick, but now when I solo, mute or do anything to one track it does it to all of them. Is there a work around for that? I still want to be able to change individual channel parameters but have changes to the software instrument take effect on all tracks.
