  1. Is this really not a thing yet? Mac Pro mid 2013 2.7 128GB
  2. Hi all. I've been working on my orchestra template and have a related questions about routing audio from Virtual Instruments to stems (in regards to bussing, input monitoring, and soloing instruments). The goal is to be able to compose through my Stems, then simply record enable the stems when I am ready to Print them. As an example of what I would like to accomplish for my Woodwind section, I would have Stems for: 1. Individual Instrument Tracks (ie PICCOLO AUDIO or FLUTE AUDIO etc.) 2. Sub-Section TRACKS (ie HIGH WOODS, LOW WOODS) 3. Section TRACKS (Ie ALL WOODS) So... To achieve this I routed my Software Instruments via busses to Audio Tracks (ie PICCOLO AUDIO), then bussed from those audio tracks to each Sub-Section Stem Track (ie HIGH WOODS STEM), then bussed from Sub-Section Stems to Section Stems (ie ALL WOODS STEM) as well as to a Section Reverb Track (ie WOODS VERB). The VERB TRACK busses back to the ALL WOODS STEM to allow for Wet/Dry fader control. I need to have Input monitor selected on all Audio tracks and Stems to hear anything. This was a suggested routing from one of my UCLA Ext. instructors (Who is using DP) as an efficient way of being able to print stems quickly and have the files live in the session for easy reference ... but in Logic pro X it doesn't seem to work. Example of my routing. Piccolo instrument ---> Bus 1 PICCOLO AUDIO TRACK (input monitor on) *Out* to --> Bus 7 HI-WOODS STEM (input monitor on) *Out* to --> Bus 6 ALL-WOODS STEM (This is a SUMMING STACK) which finally goes *Out* to --> STEREO OUT also ... (Bus 1 PICCOLO AUDIO TRACK *Sends* to ==> Bus 10 WINDS VERB which also goes *Out* to --> Bus 6 ALL-WOODS STEM then *Out* to --> STEREO OUT) -- for Wet/Dry reverb fader control The Problem: I can't solo software instruments properly. When I SOLO a software instrument (ie Piccolo) while composing, I hear nothing because the stems that its routing through become muted. I have tried using the SOLO EXEMPT function on each stem to make them immune from the Soloing of my software instruments but then the other instruments (ie Oboe) will not mute at all. Soloing any software instrument has no effect on muting the others. Is there any guidance you can provide on how to route efficiently and still achieve the ability to compose through the stems, without giving up the ability to solo individual software instruments as expected? Thanks for your help! Sorry for the lengthy description -- I hope it is somewhat clear.
  3. Hi all, I have a related question. I am setting up my Orchestral Template in LPX and am trying to route my audio in such a way that I can compose through the stems. That way when I want to Print I can simply Record enable all Stem Tracks and Bounce. Here is an example of my routing of one of my virtual instruments: midi Piccolo Out to ---> Bus 1 PICCOLO AUDIO TRACK (input monitor on) Out to --> Bus 7 HI-WOODS STEM (input monitor on) Out to --> Bus 6 ALL-WOODS STEM Out to --> STEREO OUT also (Bus 1 PICCOLO AUDIO Send to ==> Bus 10 WOODS VERB Out to --> Bus 6 ALL-WOODS STEM Out to --> STEREO OUT) The problem is how do I Solo individual Instruments while I am working and still have the Solo Exempt on the AUDIO STEMS? I discovered I can enable "Solo Exempt" by control clicking on the AUDIO Track's Solo button. SOLO exempting an AUDIO track allows me to hear the corresponding software instrument's audio, but since all of the templates's corresponding AUDIO tracks need to be SOLO exempt, all of the corresponding Software instruments routed to them will not MUTE when an individual instrument is soloed. The SOLO button on an individual Software Instrument now doesn't have any effect on MUTING the others. Whether its is engaged or not I still hear the audio from the other instruments. Is there a way to keep the AUDIo TRACK and STEMS SOLO Exempt but still be able to isolate individual Software Instruments while I am composing or soloing an instrument while playing back? Or does anyone have a better way of routing. Thanks for your help
  4. Hi all ... I have a related question. I'm working on my orchestral library template but have a couple questions about soloing instruments in LPX. I routed my software instruments via busses to Audio Tracks (ie Trumpets), then bussed from those tracks to each Stem track (ie Hi Brass), as well as to a group reverb Track (ie Brass Verb) which then busses back to the Hi Brass Stem track to allow for Wet/Dry fader control. This seems to be working well and allows me to compose through my stems. In theory I just record enable my stems when I want to print them. However since I am composing through my stems, I need to have Input monitor selected on all Audio Instrument tracks and Stem Tracks to hear anything routed through them. When I solo an individual software instrument I hear nothing because the Stem is not soloed, its just input monitored. Is there a way to lock my Stems in Solo mode while I'm composing so I can still hear the audio coming through the stem? Thanks for your feedback!
