  1. Thanks David, that makes sense. So I guess I should be keeping an eye on advances in the hardware world
  2. I've been away from Logic Pro X for a couple of years now but keep an eye on it from time to time. I notice that now, in Preferences, there is an option to enable Midi 2.0. Being a curious kind of fellow, I clicked it. What differences can I expect to see in my life? It must be noted that this forum doesn't make it easy to search for an answer!
  3. In fact, I seem to stumbled upon an entirely acceptable workflow, because VLC seems to terminate when I press any key or make a mouse movement. This means I can cursor down though a list of .MID files in Finder (Total Finder in my case with the visor locked), press space to listen to the MIDI file, and then cursor down when I want to quit VLC, and then cursor down again to move to the next file. This happy state of affairs was entirely accidental. If you look at the macro code, you'll see that I was attempting to make it so that VLC would automatically terminate when the clip had finished playing. Somehow my incompetence has delivered an improved outcome!
  4. Hi Danny, your post has prompted me to see if I could try and solve this issue using Keyboard Maestro. I've had some success, but I'm having problems detecting when VLC has finished playing the clip. I've submitted a question at the Keyboard Maestro Forum. Anyone interested can join me in following the progress of the enquiry here https://forum.keyboardmaestro.com/t/quicklook-midi-macro-v9-0-5/18117?u=carlcaulkett
  5. Huh? I've just counted them and there are just over 170 shortcuts listed for Logic Pro X. A few of them are not specifically for Logic Pro X, but I think it strikes a good balance between covering a lot of options, while not turning into War and Peace part 2!
  6. You might be interested in this freeware app... https://mediaatelier.com/CheatSheet/?lang=en It seems to work well with Logic Pro X.
  7. It would be even better if there was a way to export MIDI. Or maybe I just haven't found it yet!
  8. One other point. It may be worth your while waiting till the 24th when the full release comes out. The updater tool that this uses should automatically select which ever install is the latest.
  9. I'm not sure if the enhanced graphics in Chromaverb work or not. Hang on a sec... ...no! Looks like the fancy graphics are not showing up in Chromaverb. Still sounds pretty good, though! Obviously, I can offer no guarantees about this, but as I say, as long as you follow the guide carefully, and are prepared to wait the eterntity it takes, you should be okay, especially with a 64 GB machine! Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
  10. That's what I thought until I discovered this guide... http://dosdude1.com/mojave/ The process is very straightforward and works like a dream. I even get full graphics acceleration. I wrote more about it here... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=138775
  11. As well as the happy fact that Logic Pro X seems to work perfectly well in Mojave beta 10 and 11, there's the major fact that new AU plug-ins now appear to be incrementally added, avoiding the need to delete the Audio Cache and scan from scratch! I think this is a major breakthrough and the fact that it didn't need an upgrade to Logic Pro X itself suggests that macOS was at fault in High Sierra. All we need now for the next version of Logic Pro X is for Apple to redesign entirely the plugin selection, since the current way of doing things could hardly be described as elegant!
  12. Wow! That's really cool. I had already sussed out how to apply a sine wave from the Modulator to the Frequency or Resonance of a filter, boring stuff really! But the idea of applying two modulators to an X-Y control is really neat and I love the idea of introducing chaos into the precedings via the Randomiser!
  13. Yes I've seen and tried those. I was just hoping for slightly more extensive coverage of Drum'n'Bass. I've actually found about 100 items by searching "DnB" - quite why Apple didn't think to create a separate genre for DnB while they did for, say, Chillwave, escapes me.
  14. Is it my imagination or are there no Drum'n'Bass Apple Loops to be found within Logic Pro X? I'm slightly concerned about the missing category in the bottom right hand corner of this panel... Surely Apple could not have overlooked one of the most important and significant music genre's of the last 40 years!
