  1. No: in that case it creates a new channel strip. I'm starting to wonder if I might have been mistaken in my original post, because when I created that new track just now, it worked normally. It's possible I was simply misreading it; if that is the case I apologize for the false alarm. But thank you guys for the help -- I actually didn't know about the "New Track with Next Instrument" command, so I learned something new.
  2. Yes, they do use the same channel strip...is that what they're supposed to do?
  3. This appears to have worked...thank you! Is this a new feature? I don't remember seeing it before. (Nor did I ever have this problem before.)
  4. It does sound like that, yes -- but I'm not. I'm using the "New Software Instrument Track" command.
  5. I'm having a curious problem where I add a software instrument to my project, and then when I go to add another software instrument, it automatically makes it the same instrument as the first one. So if I add a guitar and then add a second track for a piano, the piano track is already populated as a guitar. If I change one instrument, they all change; and if I close one, they all close. So I'm unable to add more than one software instrument to my project. Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening/how I can fix it? Thanks!
  6. Thanks for your help everyone; I will be using the Set Locators key command going forward.
  7. Aha: that looks like a one-keystroke solution. Can't beat that! Thanks for your help guys. Where is the Set Locators By Marker And Enable Cycle command? I'm not seeing it in the drop-down list when I right-click on the cycle.
  8. Thanks scg! Two keystrokes -- that's probably the lowest number you can do it in, I'm guessing.
  9. Apologies for the basic question, but can someone kindly tell me how to quickly reset the cycle? My default setting for the cycle is the length of the song, from beginning to end. I loop the song, listening to it over and over, and occasionally I hear something I want to work on. At that point I shorten the cycle so that it loops just the portion of the song that I want to focus on, and when I'm done with that, I would like to be able to reset the cycle to its default setting with a single click, rather than manually stretching it back across the whole song again. Again, I know this must have a very simple solution, but I've searched for the answer here and not found it yet -- so thanks for indulging me!
  10. Thank you, fisherking: upgrading to Logic Pro 10.7.5 appears to have solved the problem. I didn't even realize there was a new version of Logic...I guess they don't automatically prompt you to upgrade to the latest version.
  11. [Edit: I guess it upgraded to Ventura, not Monterey. I thought I was upgrading to Monterey.] I just upgraded my OS from Big Sur to Monterey today. Then I opened Logic Pro and did some work, but when I went to bounce the project, it crashed. I tried three more times and the same thing happened: it crashed when I tried to bounce the project. I selected both "Save" and "Replace", but it crashed in both cases, without bouncing. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a Monterey/Ventura issue? How do I fix this? Thanks.
  12. Yes! Thank you very much fuzzfilth, that's just what I needed.
  13. I use Flex Pitch a lot for pitch correction, gain adjustment, and other fine-tuning, but I find that I have to keep turning it on again and again, which is a multi-step process that takes up time (double-click the region, click on the Flex Pitch icon, wait for it to "wake up", move the default setting from Slicing to Pitch, wait for it to complete, etc.). Doing this for dozens or scores of regions adds up to a significant time loss, and when I'm in the zone, I don't want to have to keep stopping and waiting for the technology to load. Is there a way to just permanently turn on Flex Pitch, so that whenever I double-click on a region, Flex Pitch is already ready to go on my preferred setting, and I don't have to go through the multi-step process of "waking it up" every time? Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for your help!
  14. Aha: "Selected Track", that's what I was missing. Thanks Dynamic_Notes!
