  1. Hey all, After updating to 10.4.5, I'm no longer able to control the fader in the Inspector window by scrolling up/down. I wasn't able to find anything about it changing in the notes. Is it possible to retrieve this functionality? Thanks ahead!
  2. So, just for clarification - the sound library can only be moved, not deleted, correct?
  3. Sounds messy. You could try normalizing it: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH13154?locale=en_US You could also adjust the gain for whichever sections need it via the Inspector window.
  4. As others have already said, either a Nektar product (T or P series) or an NI board would probably be your best bet.
  5. There's so many different approaches available, especially in Logic. To piggyback on the EQ idea, I often like to link the velocity to things like the amp envelope and filter for very subtle changes.
  6. Short answer: No. Slightly longer answer: When you freeze tracks, you're essentially just creating an audio file of that track for playback, so you end up with the same result. If you're running a ton of plugins and not bouncing them to new audio files like you are, then sure, it could be beneficial.
  7. Differing opinion, but I have had a P4 for a little over a year now and have no major gripes with it. I think the action is pretty good for a MIDI controller, but will admit that the keys are a little loud (doesn’t bother me much, though). I’ve heard the keybed on the new T series has improved upon previous offerings. I don’t find it very “fiddly”, either. The only two honest disappoints I have are: 1. The pads are garbage. Again, I’ve heard the T-series is a huge improvement. I also don’t like to finger drum, so it’s not much of an issue. 2. Not being able to name parameters and pages for custom maps. The parameter names will just default to whatever they are on the .plist and the pages are a generic 1, 2, 3, etc. However, with the new Nektarine software that was introduced with the T-series, this is now possible. I spoke to a rep at Nektar and they confirmed that Nektarine will be made to P-series owners in the future. Just thought I’d share my two cents on that specific item. Outside of that, the only controller I have extensive experience with is Push 2 with Ableton and, well, that pairing just in a league of its own for obvious reasons.
  8. Also worth checking out the Behringer X-Touch series if you're more interested in mixing controls. I plan on picking up the fully featured version and maybe an extender or two. They're a great option as they're heavily compatible with Logic (MCU protocol).
  9. I'd say it's worth it if you use a lot of NI plugins. If not, then I'd say look at Nektar products.
  10. That solo intro kind of sounds like a synth, but there's an attack stage that sounds more like the pluck of a string. Nevertheless, the best way to accomplish something similar would be to use an EBow and multitrack the individual notes. If you don't have one of those, you could maybe take a piece of the audio, copy/paste it to your desired length, and crossfade the pieces. Might not be the most eloquent solution and the result could either sound totally fine or totally terrible depending on the source and editing. Using a delay effect isn't really going to be effective at mimicking that sound either, though. Of course, there's always the option of using flex time. It'll sound fine if you're not stretching it too far, but eventually you're going to get some pretty noticeable artifacts.
  11. So you want them to be automatically quantized at the input stage? You could set the quantize value to whatever you need it to be in the Inspector window. If it's a custom groove, i.e. - very "off the grid" and not created by using Logic's own quantization parameters, you could also create a groove template.
  12. You could highlight all of the MIDI regions you want to affect, Command + A to select all of the MIDI notes in the piano roll, and then change the quantization to whatever you'd like it to be.
  13. I assume you're not currently using UAD plugins, so I don't really see the point in owning one of their interfaces if that's the case. They're make perfectly fine interfaces, but they're really meant as complimentary pieces to their plugins. So, if you're not using UAD plugins or don't want to get into that ecosystem, the RME is a non-brainer between the two. That said, I'd also recommend looking into the new Apogee Element series as well. I'm not sure what your needs are, but Apogee is a great pair with Logic/Macs, has excellent converters, and, if you go with an Element 24, is probably more affordable than either the RME or UAD. Just food for thought.
  14. For your needs, a baseline 15" MacBook Pro would be sufficient, I think. The only upgrade I would recommend is to increase the drive size to at least 512GB (the more space, the better). I don't have Omnisphere, but I've heard the storage required for it is pretty large (~50GB), so between a full Logic instal and that one plugin, you'd have 100GB + taken up already. I can't speak on Trillian or EZ Drummer, either, but I imagine they take a little chunk as well. The CPU, being a 2.2GHz 6-Core i7 will give you plenty of power, and 16GB of RAM would be more than adequate as well. All subject to change if you have really large sessions, but that was indicated as much of a factor. For an interface, I'd recommend something from Apogee since you'll have plenty of money left in your budget. The new Element series is a nice, affordable option (same converters as the Ensemble, IIRC). If by offline processing, you mean handling the DSP for plugins, UAD makes good interfaces as well that will do this. You'd need to be using their plugins, though, for that to apply.
  15. Don't have Battery to compare, but I do have some stacks for different drum plugins and have no issue placing effects on individual tracks. Shot in the dark - but any chance you're trying to put stereo effects on a mono track?
