  1. Thanks David. I'll give that a try and report back.
  2. Yes, but still doesn't explain why one file goes in as mono and the 2nd as stereo. Also, like i mentioned, the files from PT (before going into Logic) read as mono. So even if it's a split stereo from PT, are you saying that each individual file still reads as mono? Don't mean to make this a hassle, and appreciate your feedback. I just want to make sure that I'm understanding you correctly.
  3. Ok- but the problem is that some of the files are importing into Logic as stereo when they're in fact mono files. For example, if I import Overheads L (it's in mono), Logic brings in as mono, but if I do the same to Overheads R (also in mono) it comes into Logic automatically as stereo. Do you know why this?
  4. Thanks for the feedback. The engineer sent the Overheads/Room, etc. in as 2 tracks- L & R. So do I want both of them to be stereo?
  5. Hi David & Forum- Struggling with an issue here- recorded some drum and bass tracks at another studio in PT. When I try to import each mono file into Logic they are coming in as Stereo. It's really bizarre. For example I have BASS L & BASS R. When I drag BASS L into Logic it comes in as it should (MONO). When I drag BASS R in it automatically converts to stereo, although it's a mono file. This has been the same pattern throughout this session (OVERHEADS L/OVERHEADS R, etc.). Each track in the Logic Project are preset to MONO. Oh, and each PT file was recorded at 88.2 so I'm converting them to 44.1 in Logic. I don't know if that's causing an issue or not. Any thoughts? Thanks
  6. Hi Everyone- I've been absent on Logic for awhile and just getting back to work with it this year. Recently I tracked some instruments at another studio where the engineer was using pro tools. When the engineer sent the final edits to me they were in 88.2. When I import them into Logic, LPX offers the option to convert to 44.1. Am I going to lose any significant quality doing this, and/or do you recommend keeping the project in 88.2? I will be tracking midi instruments, etc with this eventually. Thank you-
  7. Thank you Christian. I'll dive into this further and see if I can figure it out. Best-
  8. Yes, I know what a stem is. I write music for media and know how to label tracks. What I'm getting at is my lack of understanding regarding your workflow when it comes to setting up these of which you mentioned below: -Sends and their Auxes will be separate for each stem - each stem Bus will also be the input to a (muted) stem Track - no more processing happens after the stem Busses/Tracks To clarify the first question in my post- what I'm trying to avoid is having to bounce every stem one at a time, therefore taking several minutes. Example- I wrote a bunch of cues for a library, and they wanted stems as well (low brass, low strings, hi brass, hi strings, synth, perc., etc.) for each cue. So this took forever to each one individually since I was working with 20 separate cues. When I took David's class he mentioned there was a way to bounce out stems or tracks, (however you want to label them) individually at once, so they're all ready to send- processed or not processed. If there's a clear way to do that, I would love to know...or as mentioned, a video that you could point me to. Danke Sehr-
  9. Thanks Christian. I'm sure what you're saying is correct, but beyond my technical understanding based on your description. Do you know if there's any video out there that does a walk through of your explanation of the first part?
  10. Hi David & Group, Was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of questions? -Is there a way to bounce out tracks individually, but all at the same time? For example, if I have 40 stems on a project and I want to send each of the 40 to a mix engineer, is there way to bounce them without having to go through each one by one? I can't find any videos on this one. -2nd Question has to do with routing. Say I've got a mic going into ch. 1 for vox, but I want to route one signal directly from that mic into Logic, but also want to have the same signal going through a separate source (in this case, a guitar amp) from ch. 3 of my interface. Is there a way routhe them both in Logic without have to use an external splitter? This one really stumped me as well. Thank you- Damion
  11. Hi David- I just put a mic on the speaker/amp. I use a Pigtronix Keymaster for reamping (helps with line leveling) but honestly, they're not always necessary. Sometimes when recording guitars I do a splitter with one channel going into an amp and then the other through a DI (Radio J48) back into my interface. That can have interesting results when you blend them or pan them separately. Btw, this reamping technique can be effective with both soft & hardware synths. If sometimes I can't get a synth to sound a certain way, or get a certain extra kick, this might work. But also it doesn't have to be an amp- it could be an external effects unit of some sort (eq, doubler, etc.).
