Thank you for your response, volovicg! I had checked everything except the Audio/Midi Setup utility. It looks like the image above-- it seems like I can't turn the volume up or even click "use this for sound input." This seems like bad news! Does anyone know if I can fix this somehow?

I have a Shure PG42 USB mic that I use to record vocals via Logic Pro X on an iMac. Suddenly, the mic input is no longer working properly. It doesn't register any audio when singing, speaking, clapping, etc. It does register audio when I tap it lightly with a finger. I have no idea what could be causing this issue! Does anyone know what could be going wrong? Is there some setting I could have accidentally changed to cause this? This mic is plug and play no there is no software that need to be updated. I thought it might have been updating to the new OS High Sierra that caused this but I reverted back to an older OS and the mic had the same issues. Other solutions I've already tried: using a different usb cable, using different usb ports, using it with another computer, trying to use the mic in Audacity and GarageBand. Does anyone have any idea what the issue is? I'm really hoping it's not that the mic is broken. It hasn't been bumped into or dropped-- it's just been sitting in as stand since the last time I used it a few days ago. Thank you!
