  1. I have a song in 6/8 with a string arrangement programmed via midi in logic. For most of the song, the strings are just a pad, taking up either a whole or half bar. In the score, a note held for a bar of 6/8 is displayed as a half note , tied with a quarter note. I think it’d really be more preferable to display this as a dotted half note, or a dotted quarter tied with another dotted quarter note, for when I give the score to actual string players to play. Is there a setting that I can change to make this so? As you see in the photo, there think there are a lot of unnecessary ties in this music and they don’t make sense for how 6/8 music is read, felt.
  2. Sorry for the late reply, the email notification went to my junk mail Not working with track stacks or a submix in this instance. So it just seems to be a bug for me. Although upon further inspection, it only happen in this certain project. Works fine in a brand new project. The other workaround for me was to not merge and just bounce by comp in place
  3. This is bizarre to me. I am running Logic Pro 10.4.1 with High Sierra 10.13.4 and having an issues with flattening and merging takes that I’ve never seen before. 1)Like always, recording over a take starts creating a comp folder 2) After editing takes, clicking on flatten and merge prompts a new dialogue "Mixdown of Audio Regions" . The options are Mono or Stereo. In this case it's a mono track. I click mono. 3) The newly flattened and merged track has visually smaller waveforms and plays back a whole 10 LUFS quieter than the source material was recorded at/played back at before the merger. This messing up my gain staging, not to mention Furthermore if I repeat the process: treating the merged take as take one > recording another take over it > comping those 2 takes > flatten and merge. Both takes gets knocked down in volume, but the original take get knocked down even more so compared to the newer one. Even though I've done nothing to change my gain staging the two takes merged together now sound as if they were recorded with entirely different preamp gain.
  4. I don't do this with envelopes, but if you mean you simply want to change the rotor speed I would just 1) Press "a" to bring up automation 2) Select Rotor Speed as the automation parameter within the menu for Vintage B3 3) Set automation mode to Read 4) Now that you're in read mode , you can just playback the audio and click on the control between fast and slow and logic will record those moves in the automation track. Sorry if you're looking to do something way more nuanced that this and.
  5. It is true that the song's BPM matches the drum loop's in this instance. However, I had the dialogue box open as I began working on the project. The option just disappeared midway through. I was hoping to import a few loops as non rendering REX files because it makes it easier to copy/paste a few kick or snare hits from the loops to better fit the needs of my song.
  6. The ReCycle Dialogue box is not appearing on import of REX files for me on a specific project. For other projects it is fine, but on one particular project I am no longer getting the option to Crossfade, don't fix, etc. Instead all of my REX files get immediately rendered to a single audio file. Is doesn't seem that there is a "don't ask me again" box I could have accidentally ticked so I'm wondering how I get the choice of how to import a REX file back.
  7. Thanks for the reply. Those are some great sounding tracks. I may get this new version, but if I am specifically interested in the Brandi Carlie tracks is it correct that the Logic Pro 8 book would be the one.
  8. I remember reading the forums and it was mentioned (8 years ago) that David's Logic book included multitracks and mix runthrough's for 3 songs. One of them being for Brandi Carlile. I don't see this mentioned in the amazon description of the current Logic Pro x 10.3 book and was wondering if similar tracks and run-troughs are available with this version as they are quite a nice incentive.
  9. If I load a Rex loop into logic it is a green region similar to a midi region. 2) In the editor you see it as a bunch of discrete slices just like you would expect for a REX loop 3) However when I click on the Rex loop to edit it or drag parts around, Logic’s main window goes blue and all of my other tracks disappear. The information is still there, I can hear it during playback, but I have not been able to find any answer on how to get back to the normal multitrack layout after I’m done editing the loop. Should be simple enough to get back for a normal view, but I’ve not been able to find any answers. Any help appreciated!
