  1. Hi, I ran MidiMonitor, see attached. I then deleted the contol surface I set up in Logic and that fixed the problem. I had set one up for my Roland FA-08, but it seems to work fine without it, so now all good. Thanks for the advice. All the best, Rob
  2. Hi All, I'm running Logc Pro X version 10.8 on an M1 Mac Mini, Sonoma 14.1.1 When I open Logic, I'm getting my default softeware instrument, a piano, play random notes when I open Logic. While this is very esoteric, it is annoying. It plays notes when I click almost anything. Such as record, play, stop or whatever. Attached is link to a short video showing you what it does. https://clipchamp.com/watch/yiYDkhVYr3n The piano sound only happens in the Logic program. No other program makes a sound when I open or use it. Any thoughts on why it would suddenly start doing this, and how to fix it? Best, Rob
  3. I checked the note velocities in the piano roll, it says they are set to 1. But sound at around 75. It is simply the third party VSTs I use that do not work, but as mentioned, I get around that through volume automation. In screenshot 1. You can see how I have adjusted the velocity to 1, all notes are coloured purple. The event list in screenshot 2, it shows the selected note is at 1, but it sounds at 75. Any thoughts? Best Rob
  4. I have tried this with PianoTeq, Vienna Instruments, all Kontakt instruments and many others. When I use a third party VST, I cannot change the velocity via midi transform on any instrument. I can change the velocity if I draw a curve in (MIDI VOLUME) via automation through a midi controller. That's how I get around the issue. Cheers, Rob
  5. OK. I export a midi file from Sibelius. It does not matter what export option I select; there are more than 50 different options, I've even tried general midi, it makes no difference. But here's the thing I didn't say, If I use a Logic instrument, changing the velocity works, but if I use a third party vst, changing the velocity does nothing. Is this normal?
  6. Ah, core audio in Logic, not Sibelius, OK, I'll try that. I've tried it many times, A Sibelius midi file can not have the velocities changed in Logic through Midi Transform. If I select all notes and adjust them to 1, it says it is at 1, the colour has changed to purple, but it makes no difference to the velocity when any note is played, they all sound at the original volume. I have not tried this with another midi file, only one from Sibelius.
  7. Hi, I have tried to remove all the velocity and such data in midi transform, it does not work with a Sibelius midi file for some reason. The only way to get rid of the midi velocity is to go into the List Editor and one by one remove the velocity values in there. And that's not practical. Never thought about core audio in Sibelius; I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks, Rob
  8. Hi All, I'm running Logic 10.7.6. When I drop a midi file into Logic, it assigns the instruments and its associated plugins. See attached. Is there any to drop a midi file into Logic and have no instruments of plugins assigned? Also, does anyone know how to strip away all articulations, velocity and such and just leave the notes from a midi file? My midi files come from Sibelius. Best Rob
  9. The plot thickens. I decided to create a new song in Sibelius, for piano and violin. The total length was 1:38 I exported the file as audio at 44.1 khz. Then I exported the midi and checked both in the Mac music player, they both said they were 1:38 in length. But then, I dragged the audio and midi files into Logic, and you can see the results of what logic did in the attached screenshot. The longer audio file maybe due to the reverb tail. The audio file has reverb, the midi does not, but I also had the sustain pedal on the piano. So I got rid of the sustain pedal notation, and turned off all reverb in Sibelius, and re-exported the audio and midi files like before. It made no difference. See screenshot 2. So for some reason, Logic is adjusting the length of the midi file. In logic, the midi runs for 1:33 and the audio, 1:38. Got be baffled. Any thoughts? Rob
  10. I checked my sample rates, both the Logic project and the audio files coming out of Sibelius are at 44.1 khz. As mentioned, I have two tracks, one piano and the other oboe. The piano sound quality is great, but the oboe is poor. So I export the piano as audio and the oboe as midi, so I can use a much better oboe in Logic, but the two files are quite different in their timing and the oboe midi is shorter. You can see the difference in tack length in the attached screenshot. In Sibelius both are the same length. Any thoughts? Rob
  11. Yes, the timing is off at the beginning and all way through. From memory, my audio file is a WAV, 16 bit, 44hrz. I'll check if it's the same in the Logic setting. Will that affect it if it's not?
  12. There's about a bar, maybe two bars difference. It's a problem because the timing is out. Being shorter, the midi track always finishes before the audio track.
  13. Hi All, I'm running the latest Logic, and when I import an audio and midi file from the same song created in Sibelius, the midi file is always shorter than the audio file. It may have something to do with the reverb tail, but even when all reverb is off, I get the same result. I've tried stretching the midi track but that just makes it weird. Is there any way to make the the length of the audio and midi tracks match each other exactly? Rob
  14. There were a few things wrong with what I/it did. I reset my Mac, everything was on backup anyway, and then I was told that I needed Access 1 and 2 to make it work correctly. I got both working and then, it ran fine. It only took me a week. Cheers everyone and thanks.
