  1. Dewdman, is your script different than ARTzID approach? In other words, does ARTzID's CC Clone always clone the CC's to the other channels, or only to the channels were notes are sounding at the time? Of course, I should probably ask Peter Schwartz this and not you, but I thought maybe you'd know!
  2. Dewdman, it works like a charm. Thanks again!!! You have piqued my interest in scripting; I'd like to learn how to write them now. Additional question for anyone: Is ARTzID is worth purchasing? I'm especially interested in the Combinatrix feature, which allows 126 articulations per instrument. Does it work smoothly, or is it buggy?
  3. Awesome. Thank you so much, Dewdman! I will try this tomorrow.
  4. Thanks, Dewdman and Mike for your helpful responses! I actually had a mind to buy ARTzID as I was familiarizing myself with Logic 10.3 (just got back into music composition after a long hiatus), but when 10.4 came out with its expanded articulations functions, I thought there might be a way to achieve single CC control within the native software. Using GigaStudio in the early 2000s I could employ a simple program change on a single track to select my desired articulation. I don't know why this framework isn't available on modern plug-ins, but likely I am missing something about the new approach. I searched for Eric's CC copy script but couldn't find it, so I'll probably just buy ARTzID. Thanks again! Brian
  5. I use EastWest Play plugins with multiple articulations assigned to different MIDI channels. It is a real pain to have to draw parts of the expression curve on different channels when I use multiple articulations in a musical phrase. Is it possible in Logic Pro 10.4 to have just ONE expression or modulation lane that affects ALL MIDI channels on a track?
  6. You're welcome, Plowman...but you know what? It's no longer necessary. I installed version 10.4 tonight, and our annoying bug has been fixed. YAY!!!!!!!
  7. Eric, I found a comprehensive workaround and posted it here, on Plowman's thread: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=133689&p=691261#p691261 But from Plowman's testimony, it appears that this bug hasn't been fixed for almost 4 years. Besides reporting the bug to Apple, how do we put more pressure on the Logic software creators to fix this? I mean, this is a major, MAJOR bug--to the point where I have considered switching to Cubase. Should I call in weekly to Apple tech. support and become a nuisance?
  8. Plowman (and Eric), As Eric said, this is truly a MAJOR bug, but I've found a workaround to it. The rule is that the CC lane reverts back to the channel of the first note in the MIDI region with CC controller events. If you place a "dummy" note at the beginning of any unused MIDI channel (e.g. ch. 16) and don't have any CC events on that channel, the annoying reversion will stop. Now you can use the CC select tool right away on any MIDI channel whose note you have selected without the lane flipping channels.
  9. Thank you for the quick response and link, Eric!
  10. I am observing some odd behavior in the piano roll view of a track with multiple MIDI channels, where each channel corresponds to a different articulation of the plugin instrument. To simplify the example, let's say I have only two articulations of a violin section, one on MIDI ch 1 and one on MIDI ch 2. Some notes on the piano roll are on ch 1 and others on ch 2. I've been working with notes and CC events for MIDI ch 1. If I then select a note on ch 2, the controller lane, expression for example, appropriately changes to ch 2. However, when I try to select the existing CC (expression) events in that controller lane, the lane instantly reverts back to ch 1. On the other hand, if I don't try to select first, but rather draw new events in the ch 2 CC lane, it stays as the ch 2 lane. Through experimentation, I noticed that it reverts back to whatever channel the first note in the MIDI region is on--as long as that note has a CC event for the current CC controller (expression in our case) . So I tried changing the first note's MIDI channel to 3, which didn't have any CC 11 (expression) events . THEN the odd behavior I described above stopped: I could select a note on ch 2 and successfully select CC events from the MIDI lane without having the lane jump back to the previous channel. What is going on? Is this a bug in Logic or am I missing something? Thanks!
