I am observing some odd behavior in the piano roll view of a track with multiple MIDI channels, where each channel corresponds to a different articulation of the plugin instrument. To simplify the example, let's say I have only two articulations of a violin section, one on MIDI ch 1 and one on MIDI ch 2. Some notes on the piano roll are on ch 1 and others on ch 2. I've been working with notes and CC events for MIDI ch 1. If I then select a note on ch 2, the controller lane, expression for example, appropriately changes to ch 2. However, when I try to select the existing CC (expression) events in that controller lane, the lane instantly reverts back to ch 1. On the other hand, if I don't try to select first, but rather draw new events in the ch 2 CC lane, it stays as the ch 2 lane. Through experimentation, I noticed that it reverts back to whatever channel the first note in the MIDI region is on--as long as that note has a CC event for the current CC controller (expression in our case) . So I tried changing the first note's MIDI channel to 3, which didn't have any CC 11 (expression) events . THEN the odd behavior I described above stopped: I could select a note on ch 2 and successfully select CC events from the MIDI lane without having the lane jump back to the previous channel. What is going on? Is this a bug in Logic or am I missing something? Thanks!
