  1. I do a lot of editing where I duplicate or "repeat" regions while being super zoomed into my audio. Pro Tools by default does not update the edit window when duplicating audio. I've been trying to figure out a way to set up Logic in a similar fashion. All of the options for catching pertain to the playhead. Does anyone know of a way to keep the screen completely stationary at all times?
  2. Thanks for the help man! Definitely did the trick.
  3. Hello all, I'm a long time Pro Tools user that's slowly transitioning into using Logic Pro X. It's seems that I've come a across a very annoying bug (unless it's something I'm doing wrong) when it comes to slicing grouped tracks at Transient Markers. I'm utilizing a PT Beat Detective style workflow for quantizing live drums. I group all of my drum tracks and make sure it's set to the phase locked editing mode. I set all of my transient markers appropriately in the file editor for my trigger tracks (kick, snare and toms). I enable Flex Audio and set it to slicing (even though I'm not using Flex Audio to do any actual quantizing). As soon as I control click on "Slice At Transient Markers" Logic takes an ETERNITY to slice the audio. The strange thing is that it's not consistent. Sometimes it will do it instantaneously and other times I'll have to force quite. Is anyone here familiar with this type of issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. I have three questions for some of the more advanced Logic users out there. I'm in the midst of transitioning over from Pro Tools and was wondering if there were ways to accomplish three specific tasks: 1) I've familiarized myself with the Import Session Data functions in Logic and was wondering if there exists a way to match tracks. In other words, automatically assigning settings from similarly named tracks from another session to the tracks within the current session. I know it's possible to do it one at a time manually, but is there are way to do it in a single action? I know it's also possible to import blank tracks from another session and drag the regions over onto them, but was looking for a quicker way to go about it. 2) Can you have an edit group WITHIN an edit group? For example: A "Drums" group that contains all of the drums tracks and a "Snares" group that links just the snares when the "Drums" group is disabled? 3) Is it possible to copy and paste empty space over solid regions? For an example: Copying a bunch of regions with space in between them with the marquee tool and pasting them (along with the empty space in between) on top of a longer, solid region. Whenever I do this, the cut up smaller regions copy over, but not the empty spaces in between. These are things I regularly do in Pro Tools and am wondering if I'm missing a way to accomplish them in Logic. Thanks for any help!
  5. Ohhhhh. I was searching under Midi and couldn't find it. Thanks!
  6. I'd like to change the default Midi Transform shortcut from (Command 9) to something else, but for some reason it's not showing up in the keyboard shortcuts list. Anyone here know how to go about that? I have all of my advanced settings enabled under preferences. I'm on 10.4
  7. Thanks for the tips! From what it looks like, I'm gonna have to get used to manually switching between auto punch and normal record modes. I can't seem to find a way to keep the takes folders closed while not in Replace mode.....unless I'm missing something. Also, is there a way to set up the pre roll on the timeline?
  8. Hello all, I'm a long time Pro Tools user and have recently purchased Logic Pro X. So far I'm loving how flexible and creative the workflow is in the Midi department of Logic. Coming from Pro Tools, I'm having some trouble wrapping my head on how logic deals with recording and punching in performances. In Pro Tools, I can easily position and enable my Pre Roll flag, set my selection or punch point in the timeline and go to town. It's pretty straight forward. I know Logic utilizes Auto Punch and a few other features. I'm trying to come up with a work flow that doesn't result in showing me my takes in the takes folder. When I use Replace with Auto Punch (for an open ended punch point without a designated punch out point) it deletes all regions ahead in the timeline. Disabling Replace eliminates the deleting problem, but then I'm stuck with looking at tons of takes after every punch. Is there a way to utilize Replace without it deleting all regions ahead in the timeline? Or is there a way to somehow disable the Takes Folder view (when not using Replace)? Also, is there a way to somehow set up Pre Roll locations visually (similar to how PT uses pre and post roll flags)?. Also, I've finally figured out how to use tap tempo within Logic. The only thing I'm trying to figure out now is how to use it at a tempo change. For example, when mapping tempos with a guitar player...I'll usually have them play the riff while I tap out the tempo and set the tempo for that part. I do this for every tempo change in a song in PT. For some reason Logic only allows me to use tap tempo for the initial tempo of the song. When I insert tempo changes in the timeline, it won't let me utilize Tap Tempo anymore. Is there a way around this? I've searched high and low and can't find any information on either situation. Thanks for any tips that might point me in the right direction!
