  1. Likewise is not working for me. I would love to drop a new recording onto an existing take folder to add it, but apparently that is no longer possible. UPDATE: *I was wrong* You can drop a new recording into a take folder. I was pointed in the right direction by David's post here. Here's what I was doing wrong: Drag setting has to be Overlap, I was on No Overlap You have to drop it onto the edited comp on the main track for the take folder, not onto the "Takes Area" If you otherwise have a good comp created, duplicate that comp like David suggests so you don't lose it when you add the new file. David is quick!! He replied as I was uploading the video...
  2. HOLY CRAP!!! I wish any of the 50 places online I have searched would have mentioned this. I've just always used auto record enable for selected track. It works for me now with record enable turned on explicitly/manually. I haven't used punch on-the-fly for all the 30 years I have used logic because I had never figured out how to get all the settings correct. I've just gotten really good at setting up auto-punch. I'm gonna enjoy using this now. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ€―
  3. Hello friends! If this has been answered elsewhere, kindly point me in the right direction. I do a fair bit of swipe comping between takes including swipe comp editing of multiple tracks simultaneously. From time to time I encounter a situation where a swipe edit to another take would be perfect as far as sound quality and performance, but volumes don't match. Is there a quick and easy way to adjust the gains to match while I'm swipe comping? Obviously there are several ways to do this both before and after - I even have discovered that selecting a complete take before any swipe comp edits allows region gain adjustments of that isolated take, but I have not discovered if it is possible to adjust volumes at a swipe edit point to get the volumes to match from one take to the next at that edit point. Any illumination on this would be appreciated. I included a screenshot with notes - hope it's helpful.
  4. Awesome!! Now that you mention it I have noticed that behavior before. I just didn't remember...πŸ«’πŸ™ƒ
  5. Found this thread on a google search as I have a similar but different question/need. I'm exporting all tracks as audio files for a project that has a couple of submix groupings. The submix tracks (which contain no audio regions) are getting exported along with the tracks with audio regions. It would be nicer for my purposes not to have audio exports from the submix tracks/channels. I tried soloing the desired tracks which didn't work. I tried muting the undesired submixes which didn't work. Is there a solution to this issue? Logic Pro 10.7.4
  6. Great Tips all! That extends what I know how to do to achieve the final result in a very satisfactory way. I could envision a feature request for 2 score settings for lyrics: ☐ Double hyphen converts to single centered hyphen You could type sing--[TAB]ing, and it would convert to sing - ing or sing - ing, for example, where the hyphen is spaced out and centered between the syllables as needed depending on the space between notes. ☐ Double underscore converts to lyric extender line So that ah__[TAB] would convert to ah___________________ and the length of the extender line could auto adjust to the end of the tie or even the end of a preexisting slur, then be adjusted manually as needed. Anyway, we can dream, right? Where is the feature suggestion location? Perhaps I'll suggest these as features.
  7. I tried searching first, but to no avail - please direct me to the answer if it already exists. Found these related, but unhelpful threads: /viewtopic.php?f=1&t=126162&p=644050&hilit=hold+lyric#p644050 /viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112046&p=580618&hilit=hold+lyric#p580618 I'm trying to achieve this with the word "ah______________" - inserting a line similar to underscore indicating to hold the lyric out over multiple notes, a slur, or an entire phrase: But this is what I'm getting (attempted with actual underscores): Is there a lyric "word" or "character" or function that can do this (having the benfit of following the other lyrics with vertical position, font style and size, note position relationship, etc.), or do I have to manually enter an actual horizontal line at that location? Anyone know how to do this? Or direct me to the appropriate thread if it's already been answered. EDIT: Related to first question: How to place hyphens between syllables instead of with the first or second syllable? Example of what I want: What I'm getting from Logic: It seems more professional, or at least more common, for the hyphen to be centered between the syllables regardless of how many notes pass while the word is sung. So the hyphen is not attached to any note, but centered between the previous and following syllable which are attached to notes. EDIT2: Found this workaround - consisting of adding temporary notes between syllables, attaching hyphens to them, then deleting the temporary notes. Not very ideal and seems time consuming. 8. I remembered stumbling across this hidden feature years ago, and over the subsequent years I forgot how to access it. I'm thrilled to stumble across this again, however it seems to be basically useless. I tried using it to copy all automation data from one track to a new duplicate track and encountered several problems. Tracks are not in the same locations making them hard to find, and attempting a copy on one of the automation "regions" caused logic 10.5.1 to crash necessitating a force quit.
  9. Just upgraded to Logic 10.5, and again Logic seems to be wanting to install more content to the Sound Library. This time I think it's different. It's asking to install a helper tool whereas before I think it asked for password just to install sounds... Does anyone remember if I'm correct? Anyway, I haven't been able to locate any new sound packages in the above referenced locations. Has anyone encountered this with Logic 10.5, and do you know where the new sounds are downloaded to so we can copy and archive them for future re-installation? UPDATE: After authorizing the helper tool, I got the more familiar Logic wants to install download of sounds: And the packages showed up in the standard location for externally located Library: /Volumes/External Drive/Library/Caches/com.apple.MusicApps/audiocontentdownload.apple.com/lp10_ms3_content_2016 I was able to save and archive these new packages with all the previous packages BEFORE I installed them (they are deleted after Logic installs them)
  10. This topic has a lot of related info on Sound Library location, also possibly a way to avoid re-downloading GB of sounds again. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=140462
  11. Dang Logic - the Tablature Name column is displaying like a mile wide for some reason... I finally scrolled right and found the rest of the columns: So, false alarm it would seem. Maybe my experience will help someone else.
  12. I've figured this out a number of times in the past, but enough time has gone by that I've forgotten ... AGAIN. I have the key commands assigned for event channel + and - but I can't get to the setting for setting the tab property to Inv. channel. I went to tab preferences, but I don't see anything like the image posted above. Here's what I'm seeing in Logic Pro X 10.4.8 Don't see the properties/settings to select Inv Channel for Bass 5B Tab My system: OS X 10.13.6 Logic 10.4.8
  13. First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU @jth4 for sharing this info!! The Sound Library Manager has been DRIVING ME CRAZY for several years. It was a lot easier when we "tricked" logic into using an external location by moving the library and creating symlinks. At least then logic wasn't trying to be stupidly helpful. Anyway, in following your instructions, I came across a snafu and maybe I can help those who are in my predicament, or who did things in my particular order: 1- Install fresh OS 2- Install Logic fresh 3- Install Essential Sounds > Move Library > Replace external library with large Sound Library in use with my previous OS/Logic 4- Decide to follow your instructions to download and backup .pkg files to solve the Sound Library Manager problem of not showing sounds installed So, in this order, the pkg files were nowhere to be found at the "/private/var/folders/" location. After much searching, I finally found them on my external drive in the Sound Library folder in: /Volumes/ExternalDrive/Library/Caches/com.apple.MusicApps/audiocontentdownload.apple.com/lp10_ms3_content_2013 And /Volumes/ExternalDrive/Library/Caches/com.apple.MusicApps/audiocontentdownload.apple.com/lp10_ms3_content_2016 ...I'm now backing up all the .pkg files for the next time I need to reinstall or move my Library. Thanks again for the posts!!
  14. I submitted feedback on the bug at https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html I also created a bug report at Apple Developer Feedback Assistant: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/feedback/7385324 You may have to be logged in with a developer account to view that bug report.
