  1. So they reckon that although my mac meets the technical requirements, the version of Logic Pro that I purchased in 2013 is too old, and the only way I can get Logic Pro 10.5 is to buy it again. I think this might be BS, because when I'm given the opportunity to buy 5.1 from the apple website https://www.apple.com/uk/logic-pro/ it takes me to the app store and once again I'm only given the option to buy 10.6 which I can't use. Their suggestion is to download a Demo Version from the website instead, enter my payment details from within the app and then when I want to buy I should be able to purchase from within the Logic app itself without going to the app store. They've given me a case number. I will try their suggestion and see if it works. Bit pissed off that I will have to purchase it again though. And I'll show my arse on the town hall steps if the demo version allows me to purchase without any hiccups. Of course I'll post pics of my arse and the town hall if it does work
  2. Acutally, when I go to the UK logic site https://www.apple.com/uk/logic-pro/ it gives me the option to buy or download a free trial of 10.5, so that page know that I'm on Mojave and is only giving me 10.5 and not 10.6 to download. It's just the App store which is blocking me from updating. Anyhow I'm talking to Apple in an hour so will be able to update this when I see what they have to say for themselves.
  3. I get an update button on the app store, so it knows I already have 10.4.8 but when I hit 'upgrade' it says I need Catalina for 10.6 (which is true), But there's no mention of 10.5. anywhere. I thought it would detect my Mojave OSX and automatically give me 10.5 to upgrade to. There is no upgrade path option when I start up my Logic 10.4.8 program from my Mac either.
  4. Hi All, I'm on a 2010 5,1 mac updated to run Mojave with a metal graphic card I'm trying to update from logic 10.4.8 to 10.5 because Logic 10.6 requires 1OSX 10.15 or later Do you know where or how to upgrade to logic 10.5 without upgrading the OSX because Mojave is the furthest I can go on my 2010 mac? I can only go to 10.6 on the App store. Is there a link to update to 10.5 that anyone knows about? Kindest
  5. Hey thanks Ploki, yep that works. Well blow me down!...(he he I said that) I'm not partial to any particular type of butting, just the kind that works I've been doing it wrong all these years
  6. Is there a way of butting up audio regions in the arrange window. So say I had two regions and I wanted to butt the first up to the second (so that the end of region 1 moves directly to the start of region 2) without having to do it by zooming in and by sight. This seems so basic but i can't seem to do it There used to be a 'tie object by position change' command that did this but can't find it now. kindest Stephen
  7. Using cycle worked for me. Just set it to the beginning and end of the movie Bottom line is use the cycle when exporting audio to movie function
  8. Thanks all, iZotope Tonal balance is just a visual reference plugin and you don't need it for the bounce. Thanks again everyone for your help
  9. Ok turns out in my projects I wasn't using the Logic limiter or adaptive limiter on the main stereo output. I did have it on other busses including stems pre the main output, but these instances don't cause the problem. Thanks to Loopsinner i took a look at other plugins on the output that could be causing the problem. I am running a fair few in series including Waves NLS bus, Waves Saphira, Waves SSL compressor, Dorough and lo and behold the culprit was iZotope 8 Tonal balance plugin. Just bypass it when you bounce and that fixes the problem. The other plugins in the chain don't cause any probs. For some reason I thought the dead air was always there for any file you bounce in logic, however this is obviously complete nonsense, it's just certain plugins on the output that can cause the problem If I identify anymore while doing my bounces I'll update this thread Thanks for everyone's input Stephen
  10. No sorry...I've just tested this on a clean project and It doesn't happen. I'll go back into my arrangements and remove any instances of the limiter and adaptive limiter and then update you on whether that is the cause. Here's hoping it is, thanks again for all your help. I'll be back
  11. Hi, thanks for you help. No this happens even if there are no plugins at all, and it is a clean project. For example if I import any audio file that I've corrected into the logic arrange, so it's top and tailed exactly as I like, and then bounce this agaoin, it always adds the dead air to the beginning of the bounced audio file
  12. Hi All, I've been bouncing files from the file menu in logic both realtime and offline for years and have noticed that there is always a small bit of dead air placed at the beginning of the bounced file ( not much between 50 to 80 ticks ) which isn't in the original pre-bounced file. So for example, I trim the beginning of an audio file so that it begins right at the beginning of the waveform and then use File>> bounce project or section to export the file, using cycle with the locators set to the region length...all good. Buit when I import the file back into logic or any other audio or video editor there is always this small amount of dead air at the beginning. It doesn't matter if I go through my interface or use the built in output, or if I use offline or realtime bounce...the result is always the same. Up until now it hasn't been a problem, but now I have to make some very accurate short files and the only way of correcting it is to bounce, import and then correct it in the audio editor and then 'save region as'. It would just save me a ton of time if I didn't have to do these extra correction steps. Is there anyway to stop this happening or is it just a latency thing that I just have to live with Kindest Stephen
