  1. Osumosan, does any kind of changing permissions resolve this bug/feature, whatever it is?
  2. Yes, I've opened several Logic9 projects in Logic8 (on a different computer), everything worked flawlessly. As far as I know, the only new plug-ins are Pedalboard and Amp Designer. I even had used them in my project, still L8 opened it, of course with those two plugins disabled. Otherwise ... no issues here.
  3. Thank you for your interest David, I will test it more in detail and report as soon as possible.
  4. We are having this problem in all of our studio computers, all of them are Intel Macs, but I think it also happened with G5 PowerMac (can't test it, it has been sold). It seems to be exactly as described: trimming border of a region deletes the following one if there's a crossfade between them. It is definitely not a display bug. What makes me very, very said is that Logic 9 seems to have the same problem. It is a very common issue in our studios, surprises me that it is not a "well-known bug..."
  5. Hello, I've got the same problem. Somehow I managed to install CamelAudio Plugins on my second computer, but (damn) can't remember the workaround. It concerns all of CamelAudio stuff except CamelCrusher. I think I've done it by installing older versions of plugins and re-updating them...not sure, I'll post if I can manage...of course I'd be very happy if anyone knew the solution...
  6. I have few questions: 1) when I check the 'normalize' option on Bounce dialog (for whatever reason), does it mean that Logic normalizes the signal level before it reaches master track plugins or after coming through them? I suppose that it should be done AFTER output channel strip plugins, so it does not affect compression levels etc., but I am a bit confused since manual says: "Turn on this option if you want to normalize your files before the bounce. Normalizing scans the incoming audio for the highest amplitude peak. The level of this peak is increased to the maximum possible level (without clipping), and all other incoming audio is also increased by this amount." 2) does output/master volume level affect the volume of bounced audio when Normalize is checked? (I suppose not, just want to be sure) 3) When is the dithering applied? When bouncing, Logic still creates a 32-bit file, then does dithering and requantization to 24 o 16 bits? Is it right then when I use my output limiter's dithering algorithm instead of Logic Pro's, concerning that dithering should be the very last process before bit depth conversion? 4) Well, and what if I eventually would like to use both normalisation and dithering:-) ??
  7. I had the same experience in Logic 7 and I am glad to say that in Logic 8 this bug (or whatever it was) is gone, "select all" and "zoom to selection" combination seems to work flawlessly.
  8. Agree. That's the point. Our fingers come first, the guitar "body" and electronics second. When these two factors fit our "musical needs", choosing an amp /amp simulation becomes to be important. I think that Guitar Amp Pro is a really good plug-in, whether we like it's sound or not... Most often I record my guitar thru miked Mesa single rectifier or Fender Hot Rod, but sometimes pluging it directly to GAP does the job. The decision is made based on...err...I don't know actually. I just feel that this or that could "sound" better to me. Which is my favourite aspect of making music. We shouldn't forget to use sense, not just our knowledge base... I also use GAP for fattening and warming synth sounds. Makes them feel more "natural".
  9. Yeah. I have the same problem, Logic (both 7.2 and 8 ) works fine until I make a huge ammount of edits in the project (let's say 50 chops on 12 drums tracks). Then, Logic's performance is slowed down rapidly. After making fades on the edits, I can see rainbow circle for a few seconds after every command, scrolling or zooming. I usually do beat mapping at this stage (which I think should be also less "cpu-intensive" in my opinion) and the performance is SO slow that it really makes me mad. This issue concerns G5 powermac much more than my macbook pro. I think it has something to do with graphics, but should that be? I would be glad not to have to join the regions track by track so as I can continue working. Is there a solution?
  10. I have an issue when creating a new song from template. I create a custom template for recording a band. I make a new project, tweak all settings I need for recording, delete any audio files (usually delete them from disk) and Save As Template. Then, when I create a new project from that template, it seems that it does NOT depend on any "include assets" / "copy external audio files" option, the Recording path in project settings window refers to the audio files folder of the project the template was made from. I even tested making a song from a factory template, and the record path field was EMPTY even after saving the project with "include assets" option. What I need to do is to check and set this record path in Project settings after I create a new song, which is really annoying. Logic even doesn't make an Audio Files folder after making a new song from template and saving it with "Include Assets" option enabled. Is it a bug or am I doing anything wrong? Thanx balco
  11. I would like to use MainStage with my Boss GT-3 guitar multieffect (the gt3 being just a MIDI controller used to change presets). My problem is that most of gt3–s pedal switches send program change data, not controller data. When I click on "Learn" button in MainStage, it doesn't see program changes. Is it possible to use program changes AS controllers, so as I can assign my MainStage buttons to GT-3 pedal switches?
  12. Thanx for your quick reply David. The resolution is more than enough, however the plug-in latency becomes an issue. The smoothness parameter has to be set to extremely low value (1-2%) even with buffer set to 32 samples, and with that setting the sound quality is being devastated... Anyway, for the purpose of making some really freaky sounds it seems to be a good choice.
  13. Hi, I'm looking for a continuous pitch shifter plug-in, which would simulate a kind of an digitech whammy pedal in my Mainstage guitar setup. The semitone resolution of Logic's Pitch shifter II is far too rough for this purpose. Any ideas? (freeware tips much appreciated ).
