  1. I’m not on Catalina, but yes it sounds like a permissions issue. I would do the following (sorry if you tried this already) in this order: 1)Back up your drive with Time machine 2) Reboot to your other boot partition ( ( (hold command R upon restart) 3) run disk Utility to repair 4)reboot from Logic partition and see if you can now save 5) if problem persists, download Onyx (freebie) and run it. 6) if you still can’t save, I would reformat the drive, install an earlier OS, and restore your stuff using Time Machine. Good luck! good luck
  2. I am trying to record the output of Logic directly to my IPhone in real time. Logic and Audio Midi Setup both recognize the iPhone , and I am able to assign it in logic as an output device. But using the IPhone’s built-in camera/ movie app; I have not been able to use the mac (via USB/lightning cable) as an audio source. But I have not found a way to tell the iPhone itself to bypass its built-in microphone and use Logic’s audio out via USB as an audio input when recording QuickTime video in real-time. Is this do-able? Do I need a specific iPhone movie app to record audio via the USB/lightning connection?. I’m on iOS 13 BTW. Thanks in advance.
  3. thx for your response Atlas...no, I haven't. The thing is, I always name the tempo maps as soon as I create them. . But the names I give them disappear, and they are re-named Untitled. It doesn't matter if I name them in the area just above the Tempo List on the right side of the Main Screen, or the Global section to the left. Hope I am making sense....
  4. This might be a bug, I have reported it to Apple as such. Create a tempo map ( working to pic Here FWIW.)rename it. Copy it and rename it. Change one tempo on the copy. Check the list of tempo maps. Did one get automatically renamed to Untitled? In the course of creating multiple tempo maps in a project, earlier maps automatically get renamed to Untitled, which is confusing when reverting to an earlier one amongst 5 others, all renamed Untitled.
  5. Hello all.. until recently I was able to lock the tempo maps in lpx 10.4.8, as well as lock the movie. I no longer see the lock icon which enabled me to do so. Am I missing something? TIA
  6. hi Plowman, hi David..sorry I missed this message, it fell through the cracks..thank you for responding, I will check the link now! Thanks guys!
  7. There used to be a function/ key command for deleting all automation to end of project..I cannot find it anymore. Did they rename it? If Apple indeed removed it from Logic..is there a workaround? I would like to avoid using Write mode and having to run a 10 minute file in realtime..and would like to avoid editing/ automation points graphically per track to just remove subsequent unwanted automation data. TIA everybody
  8. Just started testing 10.4.5....on my 2015 MacBook pro...It really is blazingly fast on a large project to pic with hundreds of tempo changes, 74 tracks, and lots of Flex pitched audio!! The other thing is that you can now have multiple mixing boards stacked vertically on one screen and they will hold their respective (different) horizontal scroll positions, so you can see all your tracks etc at once, lock the screenset and the configuration is saved and recalls properly..at Last!! Nice 1st impression so far.
  9. you can also assign a Key Command to Capture Recording (I use F12).
  10. Altlas...thank you so much for your help in all this...It was all very very helpful, and I am in fact applying all of these precautions to a new episode. I would like to check out the aforementioned reports about regions moving though. There are clearly bugs here. For instance, if I move a long audio region in adapt mode so that the two-pop for the whole show is synced; SMPTE lock it, divide the region, move the rightmost section to another audio track, unlock it so that I can use the Smart Tempo editor to double-time the click ....the leftmost (Locked) section has just changed position relative to the movie! Anyways, Smart Tempo is amazing. I hope Apple fixes these bugs. In the meantime, I will be doing the episodes in sections to try and minimize the timeline damage. Thanks again!
  11. Hi Logic Pro warriors. This might be a long one, I will try to be to the point. I am scoring an animated series to picture. 48k, 23.98 fps. The video source is mp4, 10 minutes duration. Audio at 48kHz. I have created everything in Logic 10.4.4. The process is: My previously created 10 minute underscores are sent to my partner, who has cut them up into separate cues. He works in Digital Performer. He assembles little bits of them, combining them and time-stretching them as needed to picture. He then bounces this into a single10 minute cue sends it to me with a 2-pop. I import the file from the Finder by dragging it onto an audio track whilst in adapt mode. Smart Tempo creates a tempo map for the whole 10 minutes, I manually align the two-pop,the tempo map shifts into place,I SMPTE-lock it, and use this new cue as the basis for the episode. My job at this point consists of playing to extend the cues , add orchestration and percussion to the existing library material . So, I am dependant on that Tempo Map for quantization, etc. that Smart Tempo so graciously created for me. It largely works and is a time saver. These are many extremely short little cues at this point, and the tempos vary wildly. Logic is for the most part intelligent in mapping out the hits to bars and beats. But, sadly, not perfect. However, very often Logic’s tempo analysis fails to interpret certain cues within this 10 minute WAV file. Is anybody able to point me in the right direction for dealing with this? I have tried cutting the specific cues, and trying to re-analyze them in Smart Tempo, while in Adapt mode. I also tried stripping the tempo information from the offending audio region (after SMPTE-locking all other regions.; and re-Analyzing in the Smart Tempo window .I also Tried the thing with the D and T keys to tap in where the beats should be, but this didn’t do anything ;the keys just made the screen flash as if there was no key assignment. I hate that I need to SMPTE-unlock the audio regions in order to re-analyze the Tempo (If in fact I need to re-analyse it at all, having been created in Logic, cut and stretch it in Digital Performer, and reopen this in Logic, not sure if this should or should not be necessary.) As I said, some parts of the cure seem to have the tempo info embedded in them, but not all of them, or is it that Smart Tempo is in fact dependant on regular transients to do its job?) . I noticed that in the Key command window that there was in fact no subsection for the Smart Tempo Editor commands ,didn’t see a D or a T. Also, in my KC assignments, there are no key command conflicts related to the D and T keys., so why are these keys not producing any response other than a flashing screen? I also tried manually re-establishing the beats in the the old Beat Mapping Editor, which yesterday presented another problem, perhaps a bug. In this window, One is supposed to click on the bar or beat ruler on top, and drag down to choose the line representing a transient. But when clicking on the top ruler, the display would bring me to a different part of the score!! And additionally, it would displace the position of various audio cues when I clicked on the ruler! So, I couldn’t use this as a fix for those cues which, for whatever reason, were not correctly interpreted by Smart Tempo. My questions to you good people: has anybody encountered the problem with audio files being displaced relative to video and no functionality when using the old Beat mapping window in LP 10.4.4? what do you do when a middle section of a large region does not Smart Tempo Map the way it needs to? Bear in mind that subsequent cues have to remain time-locked in place, and the tempo map from left to right needs to retain its integrity, all this in relation to locked picture. Can you recommend any good sources of information, tutorials, etc. whereby I could get comprehensive information on any of thiis, apart from the Logic Pro manual? I do hope all this somehow makes sense…Thanks in advance for your time and feedback on this.
  12. thanks fuzzfilth for your reply. Yes I hear you for the tempo changes . In that case I will do a separate project for that cue and bounce it as audio, and insert it afterwards. I like to SMPTE lock everything..folders etc. , as so that they are impervious to future tempo changes though, and print out the tempo map just in case .
  13. I use this while running Logic..https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/memory-cleaner/id426899026?mt=12
  14. I just sent a feature request to Apple on this, but perhaps I'm missing something, and maybe you kind folks know of an easy workaround. When scoring a series episode using virtual instruments, I like to do the whole show as one project, and pack each cue as a separate folder when done. I am looking for a way to export any given Folder as a standalone library cue. NOT bouncing to audio, but as a separate little project unto itself contains all the virtual instruments, automation, tempo information, and patches for just the selected Folder? The goal being to be able to reimport that Folder into a project at a later date. Without having to search an entire episode with lots of folders at a later date to find that particular cue. I guess the closet similarity would be in DPs chunk window..but I haven't touched DP in years. I don't wish to export as a Standard Midifile, since it does not bring up any the virtual instruments used. I suggested to Apple that it would be awesome to do both the Folder export and import via dag and drop to the Finder. So..any easy workaround to export just the Folder as a standalone project? Thanks in advance!
