    Logic score

Sorted! But thanks for your help. It turned out with this song tracks were “undefined” - no idea what happened. I changed it to MIDI and everything was fine. No idea why this song should have these parameters.

    Logic score

Thanks for that I’ll give it a try. Has the way I always used to do it been changed? I’ve got old score and if I add bars to them as per moving track their okay?

    Logic score

I’ve used logic for years, usually for scoring musicals, so when I had to write a score for a new song I thought I’d be okay but … I’m in the audio window with piano top line and piano accompaniment all looks good and also in score window, so I think I’ll add 4 more bars at the start. I select the two tracks and move them to make room for the new 4 bars. All the music changes to another key. Ie it does not just move the tracks, but transposes them to something else. I’ve never had this before or I’ve forgotten something simple. Does anyone have an idea. Most grateful if possible

    MIDI files

Thanks for that, but still unsure as to the meaning. When I loaded the midi files in the F0 seemed to sound better? when you say data is all on one track etc ?? Both the files load separate instruments in their own track, so what is the difference re data?

    MIDI files

Thanks for quick reply. Yes I can import either and have for a while. But I had to do it again recently, and though I usually import F0 and all is fine, I just wondered what the differences are?

Which midi file should I load into Logic - F1 or F0

    Old logic files

    Sounds okay, thanks for reply
  9. Still using a 2010 iMac! But definitely thinking of getting new one. I am still on High Sierra, but new iMac will be Big Sur which I believe is problematic, but should get better. My worry is whether it will open old Logic files as some of mine go back 10 or 11 years. Any ideas anyone?
  10. When I check, Logic says I have downloaded all content. I load a project and it says I need to download additional content. Any idea what’s going on?

Yes. I’m fundamentally a song writer and started out with EMagic on Atari - yes indeed, but found Logic okay re scores even though most “composers” use Sibelius amongst others. Strangely Logic added the ability to export to Sibelius, but I think Apple thinks of it as a sequencer with some added bits. I had been doing dance tracks for a few years and only recently went back to musical theatre and discovered that the chord analyser had been dropped. I should have checked and stayed with Logic Pro 9.

We can live in hope. I don’t have a problem with “what is the chord”, but I work in musical theatre and scores need to be altered pretty quickly during rehearsals an rewrites, and as much as “real musicians” read the music a lot - most still check chords for extemporising etc. What surprises me the most is Apple says it Pro.

Many thanks. I think the lack of chord analyser has been mentioned before. Has anyone heard of anything about it coming back or some app that could be used?

    Beck demo

Okay, thanks. I just wasn’t sure it was definitive. What’s the point of the demo then?

Fascinating chat, but what about my original question. By use I mean say use drum and bass lines to build a song on top etc.
