  1. Hi all. I’m going insane trying to figure out how and why when I export a midi track thats been joined, it opens up in the new project as three different tracks. I have a hunch that this is occurring because the original midi was captured into garageband for ipad and imported to logic later. I’ve read about preparing my midi for export and some have said that I need to normalize my midi parameters but I can’t for the life of me locate any menu that uses that verbage so I’m thinking those forums were related to past versions of logic. The only fix I’ve found this far is to painstakingly copy and drag individual notes onto the same track. Please tell me theres an easy setting to resolve this.
  2. Thanks for the idea. I'll give that a shot.
  3. I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried in multiple projects. CPU meter is barely moving. No prior groove templates loaded. Using ver 10.7.2 Very frustrating.
  4. You win , my friend. The "sum" channel was not connected to the keyboard input. Funny, in the ten or so years that I've been using Logic I never knew about this screen. Thanks for the knowledge.
  5. It started in a project that was well under way and functioning correctly. During my troubleshooting I did open a brand new project to see if it was a corrupted file and I get the same results. The only thing I've been doing differently of late is composing about 50/50 between Logic and Ableton. Everything still works perfectly in Ableton.
  6. Hi David. No joy. I still have no input, no output in the transport window, still see the dots on the keys and zero sound from virtual instruments. -Sam
  7. Hi All, I'm coming to my wits end with this issue. All of the sudden Logic is not seeing MIDI from any control surface.. at least it isn't showing any incoming MIDI in the transport window and it's not allowing me to produce sound on any virtual instrument. The strange thing is that I can still see the dots on the piano keys within the piano roll so it recognizes that I'm pressing keys. I do have the track armed and it is assigned to stereo output. I can hear sounds when I mouse click the notes within the virtual instruments. It's almost like the midi is not being handed off to the instrument, if that makes sense. I AM using a software instrument track. Anyone have a similar experience?
  8. No, Logic remote has always worked fine. I like making song sketches in Garageband and then transferring them up to Logic when Im ready to finalize. I could have sworn Ive been able to play midi into logic from GarageBand before but the more I read I don't think its possible.
  9. Hi all. I've done this in the past and I'm not sure if I've tweaked a setting which broke functionality but I'm trying to use some of my iPad apps as instruments to record midi into a track in Logic. I've set the iPad up via USB using Audio MIDI setup and when I enable the iPad it shows up in Midi studio as a white thunderbolt looking plug. It doesn't have the up and down arrows as a typical midi device would. When I set up the logic track to record an external midi instrument, it sees my iPad and you can hear audio through my audio interface but no midi signals are flowing (the menu bar shows no input or output signals). If I bus the output over to an audio track it captures the audio but I really want the midi notes. I'm running a macbook pro with High Sierra and a 2017 iPad Pro. Any ideas?
  10. I actually solved this this morning using some advice that you gave someone in another thread. Ha! When I go to Window>Open Midi Environment>Click and Ports layer, it appeared that I had a loop on the monitor. Once I deleted that, Viola! Pics attached for reference.
  11. I'm just stuck on how if I open a brand new Logic project, it all works as expected. This tells me that it has to be a project setting that was imported in with the Garageband file, I just don't know Logic well enough to know where to look for it. So far all comparisons between the 2 files have been identical.
  12. Yes, as can I. I also plugged in my Axiom KB and it works fine. I'm trying to play via an app on my ipad called Chordion over a network session that I established within the Mac's midi studio (audio midi setup). I just don't understand why if the midi signal is reaching the track, no sound or recording is produced. This is the case for any track I attempt to record additional sections to, and also any new tracks within this project, but playing from the app works fine in a new project.
  13. File attached. Thanks for the time you're spending on this. 4-7-2018.zip
  14. Ok, yes I do get sound when playing within an instrument track in a new project. The project that I’m trying to record into was imported from GarageBand (a sketch I made on the iPad). I wonder if that has something to do with it?
  15. Ok no change. I bypassed all control surfaces and still see the black dots yet don’t hear or record anything
