  1. Thank you for the reply! There doesn’t seem to be a way to map my faders to the drawbars through MIDI Learn. MIDI Learn is an option for other Logic synths / plugins, but the VB3 seems to only allow for choosing a premade template for a few existing organ controllers. If there is a way, I can’t see where in the interface it would be.
  2. Hi all, I see where you can choose a hardware controller in the Global section of the plugin, but is it possible to simply assign nine faders on my generic keyboard controller to control the drawbars through MIDI Learn? I guess the only other way would be to copy down the settings for the hardware modes that they do offer, and change my controller assignments on my hardware, but that’s rather tedious. Thanks very much for any ideas.
  3. Hi all… I have GarageBand on iPad and regularly keep it up to date by downloading the Apple sound packs. I recognize many of the same names in the browser for sound packs for LogicPro for iPad. Do I need to download all of those familiar sounding packs again, or will LPIPad use the GB files already on my device? Thx!
  4. Actually, all of the opinions and advice here are good. Definitely try any and all. A thought, though. Playing orchestral libraries realistically and well is a skill that takes practice. A lot of it! If you are specifically after getting a realistic string section sound, any of the top-tier libraries will absolutely do it. You need, however, to allow yourself time to learn how to approach them on their own terms. It takes careful performance as well as editing to get stunning results. Since string sections are not recorded by placing a mic on each player, your idea prob wouldn’t sound like a professionally recorded ensemble. But go ahead and see what you get, you might like it. Last caveat…. Back in the early days of MIDI I tried to layer up a huge ensemble using every synth I could get my hands on…. Eventually it all sounded like a giant accordion. Not that that is a bad thing (love that instrument) but it certainly wasn’t the huge orchestra I was trying for.
  5. Hi all, Just checking to see if I’m correct in an assumption…. I don’t usually use imported loops, but I need to do a unit on this for a class I teach, which focuses mostly on historical electronic music. If I set the Smart Tempo Project Settings to On+Align Bars and Beats, it seems that most imported .wavs or similar play nice. I”ve seen tutorials which go into great detail about using Flex Time, slicing and then dragging with the special icon that looks like an audio wave to pretty much achieve the same thing. Am I missing something, other than I know that there are quite a few things more you can do that way. I’m just looking to tempo sync a few simple loops. Sometimes improvements in software begin to supersede previous ways of working. thanks!
  6. Thx very much! I had seen a much older thread on this that didn’t discuss that option. Must not have existed then. (2014).
  7. Thank you for the reply. Am I correct that if I press just “J” it may work? In other words, my error is pressing “Command + J”.
  8. Hi all, here’s an easy one, I hope! After editing an audio track to get rid of areas where the vocalist is not singing, (by using the trim tool and cutting out those areas) when I use the join command, the track becomes one continuous region, which is what I expect. However, the previously cut audio returns. This happens also if I instead use the scissor tool and make new regions and delete them. Join command always puts the original audio back. (The original audio is basically some mic bleed of the other instruments playing while the singer is not singing for several bars ) thx for ideas! Jgirv
  9. Thank you! I’ve used that before for other things, but I’ll re-inspect my workflow.
  10. Hi all, can’t seem to find this out. All the vids speak of the general way of adding automation which is all very clear and easy. What I’d like to do is set the static mix for the opening of the project, then, temporarily loop the chorus section and set levels using either mouse or my external fader bank controller. Is there a way to simply write those new values into the automation tracks? It should be very quick, like set levels, write, move to new section, set new static mix, write, move to next section. Thx for any advice.
  11. I teach at a school with 15 installs of LPX… had same issue until we upgraded to the latest version. All on Monterey. If it helps, before that, even trying to get one new library preset to load failed. So far so good. I do wonder if it’s on Apples’ end, though.
  12. thank you very much for taking the time to answer! I can move the node and see the fader move, so, it does work, but kind of in the opposite way that I'd like.
  13. Thx for the reply! ... I'm thinking of something simpler, if possible. Like can I set the faders and hit (I'm making this up) say, Command-F and that writes the automation. For one fader I could easily do as you suggest, but is there a way to simply write these new values at a selected location in the timeline? thx!
  14. Hi all, Excuse the simple question regarding automation. I use it all the time for gradual changes, but, there's one thing that I can't seem to make work the way I think it's intended. I'd like to enable automation with "A", as usual, then place the playback head at a desired location, like a chorus or a verse, and then, set my faders for the few changes required, then do "something" to write these changes in automation. I know I can do Mix/Create 2 points for visible parameter and then grab the node and set it, but for some reason, the node isn't responding to fader movements. I must be missing something really obvious!! thanks very much for any assistance, jgirv. (and, yes, working on getting a profile pic in place for this forum!)
  15. Thanks for the info! I was beginning to think something like that.
