  1. Hi David, Just saw this finally. Thanks for the reply. I discovered that sometimes I’m not able to bypass Melodyne even if I deactivate/bypass it on my chain. I’ve worked around this but that’s what somebody else mentioned and I found the same thing.
  2. Hi, I'm hoping someone can tell me why my Logic session still uses the old Melodyne version instead of the newly upgraded one. When I opened up a different project the upgraded version showed up. But I wasn't using Melodyne on that session. So it's like the old version is "ghosting" and unable to switch to the new version within the session. Would really appreciate any suggestions. Cheers, John
  3. Just had this same problem. Phasing on the vocals and a slap type of delay. I had to start a new session and import the tracks.
  4. Hi, I hope somebody can offer some advice here. I'm suddenly seeing "Undo sustain" when I undo an action in Logic X. There are so many "undo sustain" I need to click until I get to an action that I want undone like "mute". This has just started happening. I remember toying around with the sustain automation for a piano at one point but this is happening even when I try to undo an edit on a vocal track or a bass track. Weird...and frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. I would hate to think that I'm erasing sustains on a piano track that I'm not aware of. Thanks, John
  5. Thanks. I'm exploring this option. I found this article: https://9to5mac.com/2018/11/20/how-to-upgrade-ram-2018-mac-mini-video/
  6. Thanks a lot for the info. I'm thinking of upgrading the Mac mini to 32GB Ram.....but do you think I should bite the bullet and go 64GB?
  7. Awesome! I am on the right track then. Thank you both.
  8. Hi, Happy Father's Day to the dads. I'm seeking advice from someone regarding number of Cores and System Overload Warnings when using Logic Pro X. Here is what I currently use: 2012 MBP 2.9 GHZ 2-core Intel Core i7 16 GB Ram 1600 MHz DDR3 SSD 512 GB Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB I've been having overload issues and have tried to get around it by freezing tracks, increasing buffer size, relocating Logic sounds to an external drive, etc... * I use a lot of Waves plugins (3-4 per track x 30-40 per song). But I heard that the overload issue could be resolved if I bought a new computer with more cores. I've been looking at the new Mac Mini which has 6 cores (my MBP has 2 cores) and was wondering if someone could tell me if this machine will solve my issue: 3.2GHz 6-core Intel Core i7 Turbo Boost up to 4.6GHz 12MB shared L3 cache 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 SO-DIMM memory 256GB PCIe-based SSD Intel UHD Graphics 630 Sincerely, John
  9. Thanks. Nice to know certain parameters and guidelines from experienced users.
  10. Thanks for responding! The vocal peak level is -7.2. I experimented with a mic and focussed more closely on the peak levels for both the Apogee and Logic vocal track and it seemed fine. I did make an adjustment when recording the new vocal track though- I turned my buffer size to 32 instead of checking off the "low latency" option in general preferences- which often inactivates sends or plug-ins. Perhaps that's why my volumes were messed up while recording. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the levels on my instruments as well so they aren't too high. I also think the graininess of the voice may have to do with the SM7B itself. BTW, I just read your interview with Nicole (Coco) Morier! I'm a big fan. My 13-year old daughter just signed with the same publishing company she's signed to. Great interview and I loved your probing questions! I'll be responsible for tracking and "pre-producing" my daughter's songs for the company, so I may frequent this site. My main concern is being able to track clean, quality vocals for remixing. Any advice you can give me on the DAW side to make sure of this? Many thanks, John
  11. Hi. I'm new to the board here and have been hacking away with my Logic Pro X, Apogee Duet 2, and MBP. I use a Sony SM7B and AT4060 for mics. I just want to thank everyone on this board for the amazing support. I've been lurking for a while and have been helped by many of you. One issue I'm having are mic signals from my Apogee to Logic X. The mic feed signal on the Apogee is set to the highest possible "green/amber" so it doesn't distort. But the signal I get when I try to record the vocals in Logic X is quite low. I have to compensate for this by lowering the other instruments and/or by adding an eq (set to flat) and raising the signal. Is this normal? Could this contribute to the slightly dirty sound I get on the vocal tracks? I also don't use any other plug-ins when I am tracking vocals. Thanks, John
