  1. Hi folks, I need to find someone book online sessions with, running anywhere from 15 minutes to beyond an hour or more, to help me troubleshoot/use Logic. Someone with strong skills, who has the capacity to screen-share, with a teacher's patience and clarity, who might be able to help me. I'd appreciate it if they are good with language. I've used Logic for almost a decade, and done some great things, but I'm often forgetting the things I learned since it's typically months between Logic projects. I'm primarily a lyricist/bookwriter/co-songwriter for the musical theatre, and I need help managing some older projects (from before I got my new M1 Macbook Pro) and other topics relating to Melodyne recording and mixing. I see there is a form to submit here at Logic Pro help for consultation, is that a good resource? How much might something like this cost? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Moosebear
  2. There are audio converters, such as "Youtube to MP3".
  3. Has anyone used this little keyboard to improvise melodies? I'd use scale mode, not being much of a pianist. Is there much touch sensitivity?
  4. Well it's good to hear at least that Melodyne via ARA has been behaving well in Logic of late, that hasn't always been the case. I presume you are on an Intel Mac that has not been upgraded to Big Sur, if you use Melodyne within Logic? Because Melodyne 5 only works when Logic is opened through Rosetta, doesn't it?
  5. Over the years, for my vocals, each of these audio processing solutions have shown themselves glitchy, then effective, then glitchy. I prefer Melodyne, but I want to use the one that will cause the least problems. Currently, does anyone know which option is more stable? I use pitch correction, formant shifts, and vibrato adjustments. I also like being able to adjust timing, which is one reason I prefer Melodyne, it seems more intuitive. And if Melodyne, is it okay to record with regular Logic on my M1 Macbook Pro, then re-open Logic via Rosetta to do the Melodyne work? And then when done... open in regular non-Rosetta Logic again? OR, should I just be working in Rosetta all the time, since using these tools is a big part of my work? Thanks for any help.
  6. Right. BIAB is good at transposing, including guitar chord grids. So theoretically I guess that scale data is in there, whether or not it can be made to be displayed...?
  7. You mentioned Band-in-a-Box as a playback engine, but it's more than that- can't it do what you're asking?
  8. I confess, I never thought “the formula” would include WAP by Cardi B. I guess there are exceptions. I presume you mean that WAP is quite poor pop? I certainly think so. Most pop is pretty dumb, always has been. That's why I think Lorde suggests, you have to have reverence for great songwriting. You have to love it, be into it, groove on it. Be awestruck by the greatest examples you can find. Then create.
  9. Lorde has written a number of songs that are brilliant, unique, and global mega-hits. Lorde: “A lot of musicians think they can do pop, and the ones who don’t succeed are the ones who don’t have the reverence — who think it’s just a dumb version of other music. You need to be awe-struck.”
  10. I posted above saying it was working for me, this week not so much. Lost hours of vocal track editing, and the "revert" trick didn't work, no matter how many versions I went back, all the Melodyne edits seemed to be gone. So for now I've taken to bouncing the track once I've done. Which kind of sucks, but isn't the end of the world.
  11. I just did a fairly big project (big for me) using Melodyne on several tracks, and I don't think I lost any work. And for sure I opened and closed the project a few times: I had to because my computer was maxing out, I was getting the spinning beach ball. I was really afraid, reading all the posts (at Gearslutz, and here) about this "lost work" problem, but I just decided to go for it, I so want Melodyne integration in Logic to work. I've had so many projects get glitchy with Flex-pitch. And I'm very pleased to say I'm thrilled with the results. I was using the latest versions of Logic and Melodyne Assistant as of Feb. 15 or so. It's been a few years since I used Melodyne, and I think it's improved quite a bit. And/or maybe I've gotten better at using it. I find their online videos extremely helpful- some of them go into specifics, like working with hip-hop vocals. It's super-useful for phrasing and timing, in addition to the obvious pitch correction. And the fact that I can do all of it right within Logic, well, that's amazing. I got Logic a few years back when they first came out with Flex-Pitch, I really need to manipulate vocals in my work. Flex Pitch got glitchier with subsequent Logic upgrades, it seems to me. I hope this combo of Melodyne in Logic via Ara stays solid! And I hope I didn't just get lucky.
