  1. I set up a new orchestral template and, as usual, created summing stacks of instrument sections (e.g. flutes, horns, violins 1, etc.) and then placed those summing stacks within an overarching summing stack for each instrument family (e.g. woodwinds, brass, strings) However, I do not plan on mixing anything -- rather, I will be sending it out to a mix engineer So, I got to thinking (a rare treat)...other than for organization purposes (which I could do via a folder stack), are there any benefits to using summing stacks if I will not be the one mixing the piece? Thank you.
  2. This thread is interesting What I have been doing is adding Melodyne as a plugin on a track, then making the Melodyne adjustments, then bouncing that track so I have a new audio track with Melodyne baked in (while also retaining the original track) What is the benefit of doing it the way described in this thread?
  3. Ahhh, yes I worded it improperly - it is the additional data, samples, etc. that is in the Shared folder I was thinking I could consolidate that into my own User folder since nobody else uses my Mac and there are no other users setup on my Mac It seemed superfluous to have those scattered across two folders but, I can't always get what I want
  4. Thank you - I found the Apple Loops folder and deleted all the loops (when I opened Logic, there were some loops remaining but I believe those are "essential) Where are software instruments located so I can also delete those? Thank you
  5. I would like all my VSTs and plugins to be located in my User folder However, somewhere along the way, I must have set the download path to Shared even though I am the only user on my Mac Studio Does anyone know the process on how to relocate the VSTs and plugins from the Shared to User folder? Thank you
  6. I am finding that, in my workflow, I never use Apple Loops nor Apple's Software Instruments I realize some Loops and Software Instruments are deemed "essential" for Logic to work However, is there a way to delete all the non-essential and/or additional sounds? Would deleting Logic and reinstalling it do the trick? and, if so, would I lose Logic templates I previously created? Finally, if I reinstall Logic, will I have to reauthorize all third party VST libraries and plugins? Thank you
  7. That hit me in the feels I do not currently plan on mixing libraries - I like to make a template for each developer - for my workflow, at least, I get in the zone where everything flows easier for me if my brain does not have to switch between libraries - the muscle memory of staying within one developer's orchestra really improves my speed (although, I wish I could somehow improve my creativity lol)
  8. This thread is very timely as I am about to commence making an orchestral template using VSL Synchron libraries According to VSL, their Synchron libraries were recorded in situ and are pre-balanced So, if I were to change the volumes of each instrument within the player, would I not be messing with that balance?
  9. OK, but why does Logic 10.7.5 not automatically color the track header? Am I misremembering that prior versions did this?
  10. Whenever I start a new project and add tracks, Logic does not color any of the tracks (software instrument: green; audio: blue; drummer: yellow) The regions are colored by the track header is not colored I always have to go to configure track header and select "Color bars" I realize that the track setting colors are on a per project basis but I thought that, by default, Logic assigns the green/blue/yellow (which I can change in the display settings) Why would Logic not assign any track header colors at all? Thank you
  11. Hmmmm my Settings (formerly Preferences), still only has 24-bit rather than 32-bit Or, am I misunderstanding something?
