  1. Hi, what is the easiest way to play two different vsti on my master keyboard? The most reasonable way would be creating a new midi track, and just assign two vstis, given a split point. But I cannot seem to be able to do that: the single vsti is taking the whole master keyboard range. Thanks.
  2. Ok, so those are two different things. Definitely I will keep help tags activated, thanks.
  3. Hi stratquebec, many thanks, so much better now! The first one worked for me, quick and direct. Also, the second one should work as well.
  4. Hi, I was just wondering if there was a way to hide the yellow hints pop-ups which appear every time you leave your pointer somewhere. I've been searching in this forum but, surprisingly for me, I couldn't fine any topic. I apologize if already posted, thanks.
  5. Hi JacobP, thanks for trying. I confirm that 50 bpm and 43 bpm are exactly what I ended up doing a week ago. Still, I cannot explain how I managed to introduce a double tempo. I will try testing the other things you mentioned, and see if I can further improve the result. But I like what you did, using the audio track as a reference for alignment. Maybe it's just me being far from expert, but this feels very methodical, many thanks.
  6. Hi David, since I managed to manually fix the project the way I wanted (sort of), I'll probably leave it as it is, and start working on something new. I must confess that dedicating my post-regular job time and energies in fixing these types of technical issues, really takes out the fun of making music. I think I learned that I must stay away from the tempo track in the future for my piano pieces. I need to keep playing and recording my compositions rather than relying on the tempo track. As suggested by Atlas, I will update Logic. If one day I feel like I want to go back to this project, I will try again his solution, thanks.
  7. Hi Atlas007, thanks again for your help. I'm using version 10.4. My MIDI track menu has no smart tempo, as you can see from the picture below. Only "piano roll", "step editor" and "score" are available. At this point, I am convinced that this option is not available in my case. I read a bit about the smart tempo, but basically I am not able to test your solution, since the "smart tempo" editor is not available. Maybe there is a different way to turn the smart tempo off? In this specific case, I don't mean to change too much my execution. That option could be useful in other cases, such the one in the video. Ok, that could explain how this happened. To sum this up: I am still trying an official way to revert the problem. I don't know if this is just my perception, maybe my ears are getting tired, but I managed to somehow put together something rather decent by setting the tempo of the first part (the four chords) to 50 bpm and the second part to 46 bpm. It kind of matches the tempo and the feel of the .wav audio I attached. Need to listen to it again later, after some rest.
  8. Hi, ok I finally managed to find the smart tempo editor and the "Remove Original Recording Tempo and Analyse Again" option. Unfortunately, this is only accessible for audio tracks, not for MIDI tracks (as shown in the pictures), which is what I need to fix in this specific case, since I wanted to have the possibility to fix a few things in the MIDI part, including testing a different piano vsti. This was the reason why I couldn't find the smart tempo editor, but please correct me if I'm wrong. In any case, just for the sake of curiosity, I tried playing with that option and apply it to the audio track, didn't get the result I wanted and, even in that case, I still need to have my MIDI track back. I feel like we ran out of ideas here. Would you mind trying once more with the project attached or suggest me how I could post a better project which would be easier to debug? I really don't understand how my MIDI track got screwed up. Recoding the execution was the very last thing I did on my project, then I exported it into an audio track, and that was it, anything else, including the infamous tempo track, was made previous to that. This also makes me feel a bit nervous about my future projects as well, since it takes time to learn how to play a piece and I cannot afford losing the MIDI recording in this way.
  9. Hi, thanks for your reply. I've been reading your post many times and searching inside Logic Pro X and Google before posting the image above. I just cannot seem to find the smart tempo edit menu you mentioned. I am sure it must be right in front of my eyes, but let's just skip this one for now. The attached .wav file has been generated using the exact same MIDI data in the project file. As you may have realized, the two are not directly comparable. Again, the .wav file is what I want to get, while the incorrect MIDI data is what I am left with. I apologize for the bad explanation if that was not clear enough before, but I just want to make sure if we are on the same page on this one, so everything else will make sense. And yes, I deleted any other audio file in the project on purpose to avoid any further confusion. If you try setting any tempo in the project, you won't be able to match the performance of the attached .wav file. For example, a self-explanatory test I made was moving the MIDI track to bar 1, as you advised below, then deleting the smart tempo track, and finally I set the global tempo to 50 bpm. As a result, the first part (the first four chords) is perfectly matched in both the MIDI track and the .wav file, since it lasts about 22.2 seconds in both cases, while you will start hearing obvious differences in the performance in the second part. Those discrepancies are not meant to be there. This is the issue I was trying to address in the post. Thanks, I'll definitely remind this one in the future.
  10. Hi Atlas007, thanks for your kind response, but I still cannot find the option "Remove Original Recording Tempo and Analyse Again". Could you please check on the picture below if I am looking for the right menu? After your suggestion, I decided to upload a minimal version of my project, along with the correct audio file (the one with the right tempo). project.zip There seems to be some good news here. I just found out that, if I import the audio track into the project, the audio track is automatically re-mapped with the wrong tempo, thus becomes totally in sync with the midi track. This means that the tempo mapping is still somehow retained in the track.
  11. Hi, thanks, I found the two settings you mentioned, but they cannot be selected. However, I can delete the tempo track using "Show tempo list", which I did. It seems equivalent to deleting the points from the tempo track. Also, I don't even understand anymore if there is a problematic region, everything seems to be messed up here. I tried setting a constant tempo, such that I can set the total length in seconds of my midi track to be equivalent to the length of the audio recording (the correct one I previously made). As a result, everything in the middle has a wrong tempo, with unwanted speed ups and slow downs. Is there anything I can do to better explain where the issue is?
  12. Hi Atlas007, thanks for your help. I got the adapt/keep/automatic tempo setting right, but they don't show any difference, since the tempo is automatically adjusted in each of the three cases, by following the tempo track. The real actual problem now is that I am afraid I might have messed up my execution since the midi part doesn't sound as it was supposed to be, the tempo is off. This happens even after deleting the tempo track, and set it to a constant value. . Luckily, I had previously made an audio file out of the same midi recording, which I can use as a comparison. In fact, this audio file contains the correct tempo. In order to repair the midi track, I set its tempo to a constant value, 48, which allows the midi track to be synchronised with the audio file. However, this only works for the first part of the midi file, while the second part is slightly messed up, like if the tempo track is still there somehow, even though it has been deleted. The weird thing is that the tempo track does not seem to match to the discrepancies, there is something else happening. I really don't want to get through the execution again and again, and then finally risking to compromise it once more. Do you have any idea of what's going on?
  13. Hi, I need to ask a couple of questions about the tempo track, since it might have messed of my performance. Let's go straight to the point: 1-Is there a way to remap a midi track to a constant tempo? 2-Is there a way to disable a tempo track, without deleting its content? In case you need it, more details about each question below. 1-I initially wrote a midi track using the score editor, and decided to give it some performance feel by customising the tempo track. Then, I decided to record an actual piano execution of the same track on the same file. I noticed that the resulting midi track contains many changes in those spots corresponding to changes in the tempo track, i.e. the midi notes lengths shrink whenever the tempo slows down, to compensate that, and vice-versa. This is still acceptable when playing back the performance, since the final recording of the execution corresponds to what I played on the piano, but definitely the midi track would not work on a constant tempo. It would be nice to somehow remap the midi track to a constant tempo. 2-In a different project, which still contains a tempo track with varying tempos, I noticed that the midi track is an actual representation of my execution (it represents the execution as if the tempo was constant), so the midi notes are not shrinking on tempo changes. On the other side, the playback of my execution speeds up according to the tempo track, which messes up the correct tempo. I need to disable the tempo track here.
  14. Thank you very much Eriksimon, now I'm wondering how I managed to modify that, I guess by accident. Well, problem solved.
