  1. I hopped on the forum just now to check on this specifically. Same problem - Logic periodically crashes on start-up and cites a specific plugin, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency in which plugin causes the crash. It's all third party stuff, but could be Plugin Alliance, or Izotope, or Fabfilter once I think. Sometimes I am able to open a different project in Logic successfully that doesn't have the plugin, and then open my desired project later.
  2. Why are they in two different places. It's annoying. Why is there no key command to get to them. Thanks for your time.
  3. It's possible that my Effect Rack was not updated, and that was the problem there. I thought I had checked that a couple of times, but have since decided Soundtoys could be more clear with what the most current version is. Glad that helped though! Please let me know if you find out more info.
  4. So, if I create a send and a new aux, it still needs to output to the stereo out which doubles the signal of the mix bus. I tried outputting to Output 3-4, but didn't hear anything. What I need is for somehow the send to not go through the real stereo out, and just to my headphones so I can monitor with the plugins.
  5. Hi, I monitor and mix everything I do through two headphones plugins: A crossfeed plugin from Goodhertz called CanOpener, and Sonarworks' Headphone Reference. All of my audio runs first to an aux track which is my "Mix Bus", which is then routed to my Stereo Out. I have Reference and CanOpener on the Stereo Out (could equally put them at the end of Mix Bus). The issue is that both CanOpener and Reference alter the output signal slightly, though they also have adjustable output gain. However, I would like to find a way to not alter the signal at all. So I am curious if there is a way to monitor my audio on a separate aux channel for example, that doesn't affect the Stereo Out. Actually, remember when Doc Brown draws the alternate timeline in Back to the Future II? That's exactly what I want. Just to put the headphone plugins on the alternate timeline. [Edit} The other reason I would like to do this is that I always want to bounce my audio without the plugins enabled. Having them on a completely separate channel strip would eliminate the need to remember to turn them off. Thank you! Daniel
  6. Glad I could help!! Let me know if you find out anything else.
  7. It's a shame this is still not a thing yet. Did you ever hear anything from Apple? I recently sent in a feature request for bounce to new track alternative. Perhaps I will send again with this link.
  8. Do they completely stop working or do they lag? I had a problem where having certain plugins open would affect meters, though not audio. I had to change the color display settings: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=149736
  9. I have recently been getting more into tape saturation plugins, and have run into an issue with using them in Logic. It began actually with using UA's Studer A800 plugin. The Studer tape machine was designed for multi-track use, and as they say in the manual the magic comes from applying the plugin (or actual machine) to every track. The Studer plugin comes equipped with "gang controls" so that when you adjust a setting on on instance, it applies to all other tracks with the Studer plugin. The only downside here me is my DSP resources. With my Apollo x4, I can only load up so many Studer plugins. If there are 40+ tracks, it involves either lots of bouncing-in-place or exporting tracks. The other option would be to use a different tape plugin, and I own Softube's Tape. I don't believe you can "gang control" Softube's Tape. This brings up a tangential feature suggestion for Logic for being able to control group insert settings, which is currently not possible. You can only group control sends. Now I can put tape across forty tracks, but the BIP options are limited. I could BIP tracks in place which would create new tracks, and then maybe I could hide those. What I am currently doing is exporting all the tracks, and re-importing them to track alternatives, but it is a headache and does not import in the same track order as my Logic session. If I could BIP to a new track alternative, I could make really clean A/B comparisons of all my tracks with and without the tape emulation bounce. If you agree please send a feature request to Apple! Or, please let me know what I haven't thought of yet .
  10. I posted about an issue I was having recently with certain third-party plugins causing Logic to lag, but wanted to re-post for better searchable results. It took me a very long time to figure out the issue. With certain plugins including Sonarworks' Reference, Soundtoys' Effect Rack, and Klanghhelm's MJUC, having the plugins open would cause Logic's meters to appear to run slowly. Tony from Klanghelm fixed the issue pretty quickly and was able to point me in the right direction. Conversations with Apple and Sonarworks didn't get me far. Tony pointed me to a post discussing switching my iMac's display color settings from "iMac" to "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". This solved the problem instantly. What I have yet to determine is whether I know have to keep my computer on these color settings, or whether Apple or the third-party companies will fix the issue. The forum topics date back a little while ago, so this problem hasn't been fixed quickly. Check out this JUCE forum here: https://forum.juce.com/t/slow-frame-rates-on-2017-macs/35813 This Gearslutz post also addresses the issue of Retina Macs. It seems to come to the same conclusion about the color setting being sRGB. One use also suggests an app called Display Menu for running the computer in non-HDPI resolution. Whatever that means: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/apple-logic-pro/1200020-logic-sluggish-graphically.html I am going to reach back out to apple, as well as the third-party companies, and will update here as I go. Please let me know if you have other ideas!
  11. Hi, jump cut three years forward, and I am having this same issue. Using RX7 De-Click, I am able to bounce in place successfully with "single band" but not with "multi-band" mode. The BIP will add a delay to the final audio file. Any thoughts?
  12. As an update, I spent a few hours on the phone with Apple and was not able to find a problem. Except, one tangential issue with Logic's track color window. One thing I did not mention is that I am still running Mojave. I am going to download Catalina now and see if it solves any problems.
  13. Hi all, I have had a number of issues recently with a variety of Logic plugins, and I am not sure what the next steps to take are. I believe they mostly occurred after the 10.5 update, though I can't recall the chronology specifically. In the first case, Klanghelm's MJUC plugin would cause the Logic meters to instantly run very slowly. I emailed support and got a quick response from Tony, who said it was an issue with the new Logic update. He very efficiently sent me a new fix, saying "The snappiest solution is to use openGL rendering, which makes the GUI more responsive than ever". Problem solved. More recently, I have had this issue with Sonarworks' Reference. As soon as I turn it on, Logic's meters begin to move slowly or stop completely. Sonarworks responded that they just fixed this issue with overwhelming success, and that it might be me. A third issue has been with RX7. In the specific case when I use the De-Click Multiband option, the bounce-in-place feature will shift the audio to be out of time. Izotope's response ultimately was that they were not able to re-create the issue, and that it may be a CPU or Logic issue. Lastly, I purchased Plugin Alliance's Lindell te-100, which just caused Logic to crash almost immediately. PA support said they don't know when a fix will be, and gave me a refund. Anyway I'm wondering, is it me? How would I go about troubleshooting generally? Should I reach out to Apple (might do this regardless)? Any thoughts or similar experiences would be very helpful. Thanks so much. Daniel
  14. When splitting up regions to adjust clip gain, are people then creating cross fades between the newly created regions? Or is that not necessary?
