  1. I've had similar problems but after importing the stems was switching to ADAPT mode thinking that's what I should be doing. I need to switch to KEEP mode then?
  2. The phasing is the same is if you used a plugin or guitar pedal. Certain frequencies move about from left to right with an envelope style effect. It’s as if the cymbals are moving and not static With a little woooshing sound. Hard to describe in words.
  3. I can't figure out what is happening here...... I have a project of mainly recorded live instruments and Logic's drum loops. There is some kind of weird phase issue happening when I play it back which is particularly noticeable if I solo the drum loops and have a loop with cymbals playing. What's even more interesting is that if I open the loop browser and audition a drum loop it has the same phase issue. However, if I open a new project and audition the same drum loop there is no phasing issue and none of my other projects have the same issue. Also if I copy a section of the drum loop from the offending project into a new project there is no phasing issue. I have nothing on the drum track or stereo outputs that should cause this problem, I use exactly the same plugins on the stereo outs on this project as all my others and no issues there. It is something specific to this particular project. I've turned off all the plugins on the stereo outs and the problem is still there. I'm starting to think my only option is to copy everything into a new project and see if that cures the problem. This would mean copying all the tracks, all the channel settings etc but I'm hoping someone can help me with the easy fix on this. Anyone had this issue themselves and any suggestion. Thanks Ian
  4. I'm using the presets that are already configured but trying to assign the user configurable ones. There is another post recently posted on the forum (if I new how to link to it I would) that seems to have answered my question but unfortunately it looks like what I'm trying to do can't be done in Logic. Ideally I want the midi controller assigned knobs to only control the plugin that is open/active on the screen, irrespective of which track it's on, which effects slot its in and how many times the plugin is used on other tracks. Thanks for your help. Ian
  5. I’m having a problem with some of my midi controller assignments and feel like I’m missing the obvious here. Using my Nektar LX25 and I’ve been able to successfully set it up to control various parameters such as send levels, pans, faders etc but when trying to set it up so that the knobs control compressor plug-in parameters I’m struggling. If I have two compressors on a track it will control the parameters (ratio, threshold, gain etc) on the first compressor plug-in but if I close this down and open a second compressor on the same track I get nothing at all. It’s the same on all tracks. I’m just using the stock Logic compressors. Any idea as to what I’m doing wrong. I’ve a feeling its something to do with the way I’m using the midi control surface learn mode. Any help appreciated. Ian
  6. I had similar issues with my mac mini but changed my wifi to 5G and its been fine ever since. There is certainly an issue with interference/conflict when using 2.4G wifi and the mac mini.
  7. I'm with David on this one. Multiple takes panned L - R is the only way to double up a guitar. When I'm needing a wash of acoustic guitars I will do as many as six takes and pan them across the stereo spectrum but leaving the center for other instruments/vocals, two hard L-R, two not quite hard L-R and two about the quarter to and quarter past position. If I'm using the acoustics for a rhythm part playing mainly chords I will also have them playing chords in different positions. For example if the chord was a straight forwards C major, one guitar playing in the open positions, one on the third fret and one on the 8th fret (all then double up). Of course I don't do this for every song, some just one acoustic or a couple depending on the overall production I'm looking for. In terms of volumes, the level you record at has nothing to do with the level in the final mix. Record at a good level without clipping and leaving a few dB headroom. When you come to mix adjust each track level to give you the desired mix and if the overall volume isn't loud enough just turn up the output volume on your interface or amp. If the guitars are not sitting right in the mix it could be an eq issue or perhaps you need some compression to even out the levels.
  8. What do your ears tell you?
  9. They shouldn't move unless you have used automation. Check that you have't inadvertently recorded some automation by turning it off.
  10. I use a 2018 mac mini and haven't had this problem. As a suggestion open a new file with a single audio track in it and try recording something to see if it works. If it does then there may be some glitch in the file or the settings. The fact that you can see the waveform suggests that something has been recorded and the problem is with the playback and the things David has suggested in his post.
  11. Quick swipe is so quick when comping takes, worth getting to know how it works. I think, and this is from memory, if you turn Quick Swipe off it lets you move the individual takes, copy them etc so you can then move one to another track. You can also move a take from a take folder using the Take Folder pop-up menu. Select Move Active Take to New Track from the pop-up menu. The active take is moved to a new track, which is created below the take folder track. Ian
  12. Alternatively you can move the last line of the vocal to another track, copy the channel strip setting so you capture all the other plugins, eq etc and just remove the reverb plugin. Ian
  13. So it’s not really what I’m suggesting there should be. One project that you save mixer settings as Scenes. That way anything you change, add, edit is within the one project along with a number of mixers. Each can then be recalled in the one project rather than having a number of alternative projects. I always found it a really useful function on the Roland VS2480. Ian
  14. Looks like this is what I’m looking for. So if a save a project alternative to capture a mix and then add a track to the project, is it added to all the alternatives? Ian
  15. Loving Logic Pro X. Having moved over from a Roland VS2480 one function that I really miss is being able to save different mixes with the project. The VS2480 allowed you to save numerous mixes within the project which could be recalled at the touch of a button. I appreciate that each mix can be saved as a separate project but then if you make any edits or change anything else within one of the projects this would not be done to the other alternative mix projects. So, just some way of saving alternative mixes within a project that can be recalled at the touch (or click) of a button. Ian
