  1. Hi all, I'm trying to export/bounce individual tracks with all plug-ins and bus sends on them. In other words, exactly as they sound when played back in the original session. Do the sends need to be made into tracks in the arrange and then exported/bounced themselves for this to happen? I tried it and it worked for some of the tracks, but others didn't seem to print onto their respective sends. Basically, I've mixed the tracks but would like to send them to a colleague for final tweaks and another set of ears, but I want to send them exactly as they sound now. Is this possible?
  2. Thanks, everyone for the detailed replies. I'm not the only one having this issue, obviously! In summary, I'll try all of these: 1. Use 'score sets", not 'Instruments' 2. Duplicate staff styles for each instrument 3. Use Locked SCREEN Sets for each instrument 4. Specify Max bars per line in Global Score Prefs 5. "Locked" means Locked OUT of the Global Prefs, not locked IN And the piece de resistance: 6. Option-Shift-Layout: a tool so important yet so absurdly obscure, it's not in the manual (it is, sort of), the key commands, or even known by many Logic professionals. EDIT: it's in the manual, but not as Option-Shift. I was told years ago to make the "Option" i.e. the second tool, the Layout tool. Which is convenient, but then you need the shift to add the functionality. And no where (that I've found) does it say that! EDIT2: Frankly, this is way too much work for something that should be second nature. I think it shows how little anyone at Apple actually uses Logic to score. You should NEVER have to waste this much time just to keep your parts from getting all screwed up. My solution: farm out the scoring to someone who uses Finale/Sibelius/anything else.
  3. Hello, I've been using LPX to score for a big band and I've noticed that many times, after I've finished an individual score, if I need to back and change something, the entire layout is screwed up. Bars scrunched together, or too far apart and I have to re-do the entire damn thing part by part. This happens even if I've used the Layout Tool, got the little orange lock on each line, etc....sometimes one little change somewhere will screw up the formatting of the entire part. Example below. Is there someway to just totally lock the lines in place so this never happens? And why does this happen? Here are pics of before (finished) and after: moving ONE bar up one line.
  4. Hello and thanks in advance for the help, So I set the punch-in markers, and hit record, and Logic suddenly: 1) turns off recording on that track 2) turns ON recording on a different track 3) makes the punch markers start in a random place and go until practically infinity! Is this a known bug? Here's a screen shot of it. Look at the Punch-in numbers. They go to question marks! (Like a good party, I suppose.) And the punch in bar just keeps going and going...... 5. Hello amigos, I'm sold on the new Quad mini ($799! + extra memory) for Logic, but does anyone know how it might work with Final Cut, assuming I get the 16GB memory? (I've never used FC before.)
  6. Greetings, Since I upgraded to 9.1.7, every time after I bounce a full Logic session, (sending the mp3 to iTunes), I get the "Error trying to synchronize Audio & MIDI" and neither iTunes nor Logic will make any sound. I have to quit both and restart them before I can get any more work done. Any clues, amigos? I'm on 10.6.8, L 9.1.7, Macbook 2.2.
  7. Big Fish makes "Dave Samuels Marimba & Vibes" sample CD. I've got it and it's pretty good, but the marimba sounds are better than the vibes, IMHO. That said, they are both far better than what comes with Logic, esp if you know what the real instruments sound like. (I've now got a set of vibes in my studio, so there's no going back.)
  8. I finally got the hang of Logic's scoring/notation editor except for one thing that has me going gray. After I get my individual parts looking good, and print them out, if I need to go back and change anything, all the formatting is screwed up. Too many bars on this line, not enough on that line. I have to go back to the pdf file and re-do all of my formatting! Is there a solution to this? I can't find a "lock score layout"command anywhere. This is an example where it kept pushing up the bar with "M" to the higher line after I had repeatedly dragged it down.
  9. Hello ya'll, I recorded & mixed all of these in Logic 8 with all native plugins, right here in sunny, warm Brooklyn. It's so stable over here, I'm afraid of upgrading until I get a brand new computer. I could use that extra memory though....... Download the tracks free at www.myspace.com/wsomusic Here's one on Youtube. You can see the others by clicking More By Gianni Mano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd1K7m-22q0
  10. Hey, it's the holidays! Don't be frustrated if your posts are not answered in under 12 hours. I've had the same problem and now I always close the project, and sometimes Logic too, if I'm going away from the computer for more than an hour. Even if I don't put the mac in sleep mode, there seems to be something that gets screwy after about an hour and the project won't run smoothly. Maybe it's some power management thing that turns off the firewire bus, etc...but who knows.
  11. I'm working on a big band demo right now on a lowly 2.2 black MacBook with 4gb of ram. That thing is a powerhouse compared to my previous G4 laptop. I can run 20+ tracks of audio with plugins etc..no problem. Just get a 7200rpm external firewire drive and you are all set. If you are just starting out or not, I suggest saving your money and getting a big 22-24" screen. That has sped along my work a lot more than a coupe more cores which Logic and most plugins don't really take advantage of so well right now.
  12. I'm having exactly the same issue. A project that was running fine is now completely unusable. I tried repairing permissions, re-saving with a different name, etc... With me it only happens with Kontakt 4, and only in one song. Other projects are fine. "Sample rate 38336 (or something) detected. Error trying to sync Audio and Midi. Check external devices." Any advice is appreciated.
  13. Every once in a while, when editing notes in the Piano Roll, Kontakt will spontaneously reload all samples. A dialog box comes up "Resolving Sample References" and then they all - gigabytes worth of them - reload on their own. It totally stops the work while I wait for the samples to come back in. Has anyone seen this, or a solution?
