Can anyone offer an explanation as to the difference between adding an External Instrument Channel Strip and using the External Instrument plugin? It seems to be the same thing to me and doesn't tell me why the MIDI FX transpose doesn't work.

Can you offer any more detail? I am adding a Channel Strip and choosing External MIDI. If I instead choose Software Instrument and the set the input to External Instrument I get no options for MIDI channel, etc.. What are the steps you are using to use the External Instrument plugin?

For many reasons, I want to use Kontakt in stand-alone mode, so my original question still stands.

I have an external instrument channel strip set up to output MIDI through IAC to Kontakt. It works great except that when I change the transpose in the inspector or using the Transpose plugin it has no effect on the external MIDI. Am I missing something here?
