  1. I've been having the same issue, tried the safe mode thing; still didn't work. Any thoughts?
  2. OK, so what's a straightforward way of updating the OS to Mojave? I've been trying to figure out how to make a bootable stick drive of Mavericks and I can't get it to work.
  3. No, it's not hacked. My friend owns a copy, I downloaded it from the app store.
  4. Not sure to be honest, after I installed the drive I had the option to install Mountain Lion, the app store let me download an older version of Logic, pretty sure it's 10. something. I can't access the "about Logic" menu item to find out.
  5. I'm helping a friend make use of her old 2012 MBP as a music creation machine, just stuck an SSD in it and installed Mountain Lion and whatever version of Logic works with that. Thing is, the extra content seems to download but then Logic crashes as it installs, I've tried reinstalling Logic but same result. Any ideas how I can remedy this? BTW, I'm not interested in upgrading operating system, or getting a newer version of Logic working unless that's the only solution to fixing this.
  6. OK, thanks, I'll try that. Just about to start a lesson, so we'll see.
  7. "Bus 1" on each of the three channels is routed via aux 2 to outputs 5 and 6 which are part of the Blackhole aggregate device. As I say, everything works fine except the mic and instrument channels get defeated when I press play in Logic, all the student can hear is "track" Thanks
  8. So, I'm teaching guitar/composition using Logic and Blackhole and I can't seem to sort the monitoring/routing out. I'm able to stream both my mic and an instrument to Zoom, using the Blackhole aggregate device but, if I play a backing track that's in the Logic project, the instrument and the mic are turned off. I've experimented with the monitoring settings and toggling record enable on the mic and instrument tracks but to no avail. Seems to be a routing issue in Logic rather than Blackhole or Zoom but I'm not sure. I can hear everything on my end but the student can't hear anything but what's being played back in Logic Could anyone shed any light on this please? Thanks
  9. Hey thanks for your generous comments, I'm glad you appreciate my music, it means a lot to me. Hey Chimpotle, I have no closely guarded secrets, I'm happy yo share. The bass guitar was played by a friend of mine through his Focusrite Liquid Channel (I have no idea what settings we used) straight into Logic via my Presonus Firepod, no other fancy tricks were used. The acoustic guitar was recorded in the live room of a friends studio. Three mics were used (I can't remember what they were), one pointing more towards the neck and headstock, another one focused on the body and the third mic was used to capture the room ambience. If you are starting out I can really recommend this book: http://www.mixingwithyourmind.com/book.php I owe my mixing technique almost exclusively to the methods laid out there. As for the availability of my music; the album should be released on the Hungry Audio label sometime next year. I have just started a blog where I'm posting a song a week for a year (gulp!) those songs are recorded very simply and I'm inviting listeners to download them and then vote on their favourite one from each month. The top thirteen will get turned into my second album in the autumn of 2010. Please comment and get involved if you feel moved to! http://touchablenumbers.blogspot.com/ I have another album that got shelved a few years ago I'm going to put that up on band camp soon, you'll be able to download that for free. I'll send you a PM or add to this thread when I've got round to doing that. Cheers.
  10. Hi there good people. I haven't posted on the forum for ages but I'm very appreciative of the help I have received when I was first getting my head around Logic. I have just finished recording an album that I started 3 1/2 years ago! I certainly haven't been working solidly on for that length of time, it has been interrupted by several house moves, having children....etc. Anyway I humbly present a link to my myspace page in the hope that some of you will choose to have a listen and maybe you'll enjoy the songs. All of it was recorded using Logic Pro 7 on my 1.67GHz Powerbook G4 using a Presonus Firepod audio interface and various mics. http://www.myspace.com/alansouthgatemusic Thanks a lot.
  11. Figured it..... I turned PDC off, everything OK now. Wierdly I don't recall ever turning it on, I don't have any extra DSP plugged in anywhere, I don't see why I would have messed with it... Oh well.
