  1. Thanks so much for your patient help David! Such basic stuff one still needs to learn .. I hardly ever use the Pencil Tool and missed it in your original explanation above .. it's never too late 😉
  2. Thanks David, it looks like a great solution .. but just tried it but it doesnt work on my system: PS How do you make the Screenflow video small enough file to be uploaded here?
  3. Double clicking on a note head gives the option to convert to different symbols ( very useful for rhythm parts) - but am I correct in concluding that it is not possible to Select multiple noteheads and change them all at the same time? Seems only to change a single one at a time... Here is a video of the issue ( File to big to load here)
  4. @Plowman thanks so much for finding this - 'view my activity' doesnt go that far back... 🙏
  5. Fascinating thread - this is something I posted about some years back when I had an Arrangement in B but needed the Trumpet and Tenor Parts in Db. If I understand the work around, it involves changing the basic key to the desired Bb looking part and then changing the Concert parts to correct their display of the key of the tune by using the transpose feature in the Staff Styles to display the right key? I will try this out on the Arrangement I first posted about around November 2018 ( for a gig I had on 9 December 2018 ) NB tried to search for the thread to quote it here - question supplementary: how do you look up a list of all your own posts?
  6. @JakobP - brilliant suggestion! This would explain why this is only happening more recently. And I was not familiar with the change of behaviour of the Arm Record. I was used to always being able to play any Software Instrument track by just selecting it. Will see if this makes any difference and report back ... that said I have had 10.7.9 for some time and this dropping out behaviour has only really started happening in the last month or two.. and before then never had the problem. ( I cant go beyond 10.7.9 for the moment as my system wont take a higher version of Logic). Also to recap - quitting and re-opening the project solves the problem ( ie just select any software instrument that isnt Record Armed) But if Record Arming brings the software instruments back to function that saves quitting and re-opening every time..
  7. All those pages in my Setup are completely blank - never used a Control Surface.. but thanks for the suggestion My projects, ( mainly for composing/ arranging & adding harmonica overdubs) have very modest numbers of Software Instruments .. but thanks also for the suggestion! * * * The problem still occurs in the same way - and the only solution is to Save Quit and Restart. Given the 'legacy nature' of my system it is something I will have to live with. Thanks all for your contributions!!
  8. @Atlas007@David Nahmani - thank you gentlemen .. found and ticked! Will see if it occurs again 🙏
  9. I dont use any control surfaces... but where would you find that setting?
  10. 1/ Upon opening a project my master keyboard ( Korg SG1 connected via Midi Cable to Clarett 2Pre) - triggers any Software instrument normally. Worked with no problem for several years 2/ Now I get the following intermittent issue: the Software Instruments sound no longer when the keyboard is played though they do still: • Play back aleady recorded sounds/regions normally • Midi In/Out button recognises/ responds to keyboard and continues to record midi and play it back... but the sound cannot be heard as I play 3/ Save>Quit>Re-Open Project .. everything is back to normal - for a while... then suddenly same problem re-occurs Any thoughts?
  11. Is it possible to insert a Photo (ie jpg or png) into the Score and size it as you can in a Word or Pages document? ( ie not a small image via a font but an actual photo)?
  12. Have you Unlocked and Locked the Screenset once you set the various settings you want?
  13. @fuzzfilth this is an amazing solution! 🙂 Excuse my ignorance of Logic but... I did not know you could write a set of Tempo Values to an Audio File ( ie created after Beating Mapping the way @Quechua describes - and which I am very familiar. But the following questions arise: 1/ If your original Beatmapping is not that accurate, could it 'mess up or degrade' the timing of the original audio file? 2/ I always thought that if you slowed down a Track via Varispeed it was not possible to record audio ( but of course you can Midi which I do a lot of when transcribing post beat mapping - easier to hear complex passages etc) 3/ But what you are saying is that you can Transfer the Tempo values to the Audio then slow all those tempo values down - record at that lower speed - and then return them and the new slower recording to the original tempo?
  14. @Harriet - actually Oscar Wilde's initiative will totally solve your issue and is simpler and better than my earlier post. Also with respect, I dont think Apple will invest time in such a bug if it is such, especially as there is a perfect work around with the following refinement using 3 Key Commands ( which if you use them enough, and get really familiar with them you will achieve your desired goal in split seconds): 1/ Navigate to any position you want the Playhead to return. If you are in Score View and dont have the rule just Option Click the Playhead or click on a Note and use the Key Command Go to Selection - the playhead will jump to that precise point. 2/ Once the Playhead is in the desired position, use the Key Command 'Set left locator by Playhead' 3/ When you want to return to that position and play from there hit the Key Command 'Play from Left Locator' and you wont even need to touch the Space Bar 😉
  15. Thanks Greg for another great solution! I am familiar with the Bravura Font thanks to you a while back showing how to add music symbols from that font not found in Logic. The 'repeat sign' which I use constantly when writing in Chords ( See screenshot below) to signal the repeat of the previous bar's chord. The snapshot below is from my New Project Template - and in order to circumvent the multiple actions required to generate a Bravura font symbol ( which means switching the computer keyboard preference from GB to Unicode Hex Input) I have simply generated a single region with the Repeat sign and when I need it, open that region and cut and paste to the chart I am doing, then delete the repeat symbol Region. As you can see I have now added that Glissando symbol to the default Region ... BUT... I notice that in your video you seem to pluck the Glissando symbol 'embedded' from its logical place in the family of relevant Symbols in the Inspector. Am I seeing things? How did you do that?!! If I could 'embed' Bravura Symbols in the Inspector I could do away with the Region in the Template with the Symbols... a cool improvement 😃 PS @David Nahmani Wise editorial change of thread title appreciated 😉
