  1. I just checked the expert controller assignments view and the values were good, I then checked the other obvious spot and it was the controller hardware cc settings on the actual unit. lt looks like I fixed it there, as it is functioning like a knob again! thanks again! this place is the best
  2. wow, thanks dude, checking this out now ! I knew the knob worked on other occasions but has acted like that more recently than not couldn't do music production with out this place. thank you!
  3. yea sure! I am using Logic Pro X 10.4.4 on a MacBook Pro Late 2017 with Seirra 10.12.6 I will say I haven't seen the issue occur again, I have made assignments and recorded midi in other projects and repaired the original lost ones and they have remained. so not sure . would faulty hardware ever cause that? I know the knob usually on the 2nd slot is basically faulty. if it is slight turned the tiniest bit it will jump to the extreme end of the parameter settings so like 0% to 100% no in-between . I stopped even assigning things to it because you can't rotate it with out having that issue as it is not usable. Thanks a ton for the help. This place is the best and I couldn't do this with out this communities help.
  4. thanks, I hear ya and that logic makes sense, it is just pretty quirky that it wasn't saved as it was last left and only the midi data was saved.
  5. Thank you Atlas007 for answering the side question. I got the track automation converted to region automation, and now can see Macro 1 listed in the step editor window yet still is not listed in that pull down menu of the lane assignment in inspector, and also it does not show the events in the lane of the step editor? Also back to my main question, why did I loose controller assignments in a project but still have the automation events and lanes events intact? (I noticed that always had region automation by the way as seen in the first pic)
  6. and why can I not see something so typical like macro 1 in the step editor new lane cc pull down list??? I set the lanes and midi assignments pretty easily before as you can see and tried two different takes successfully. I was super excited to come back and use midi controlled automation on other projects and and now this time around it has been nothing but a brick wall setting up from scratch and then I go back to refer to my original successful automation recording event and that has the assignments wiped clean as described above which made the situation even more confusing.. hence this thread.. thanks for any help guys
  7. I assigned some controls with my midi controller to control a vst effect such as a macro 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , or pitch bend to then be recorded in automation, and now when I opened that project up all of the assignments say unused and when I play the track the automation movements in each lane are there and move and are recorded but they have no assignments. what happened?? I am lost and tried to search around and self diagnose the past 2 hours. thanks guys, I couldn't do this with out the help of this forum. thank you. I just wanna save my automation performance done via controller knobs as anyone would and understand why these were forgotten or erased ?? I come back a week later and the recorded midi movements and automation lanes are there but the assignments are wiped clean =(
  8. ok, so right away I did a couple more bounce in places on the 3 of the 5 tracks with arturia instruments, and I restarted the whole computer, I actually got to play the new downsized project now (sitting at a measly 22.2MB , down from 1.07GB -1.69GB) and even dared to open up a software instrument (serum) during play back and it worked ! so it seems something did work through the course of updating the offending third party software, save as template work around, and a computer restart. sitting at 1024 latency and will try to get that back down (probably once I finish this project) thank you everyone , this is a start and I will post any more updates as time goes! I am very grateful for everyones input on this, as it was literally a dead end with no play back possible, now we are back in business
  9. so I updated arturia, and did the save as template and opened a fresh new file from the new template and the file size is drastically down (literally at 24mb) but I still can't even play the project....and get the same system overload... I am gonna try it on another project and keep the fingers crossed, maybe its just this project...sighh
  10. thanks a ton Finaldiner, i was thinking this too after more thought on your code corruption discovery etc. thank you ! will post updates after.
  11. thank you so much triplets, I am going to implement this immediately, i also haven't been saving the folder type on my projects up to this point (last night trying to diagnose this blooming project) but this save as template work around still applies in my opinion regardless of the save type. Thank you a lot ! i really appreciate logicprohelp and all the help and info it provides! it has made me a happy logic user over and over.
  12. I am having similar issues with a certain project and have been stumped diagnosing for over 3 hours maybe 4 Nothing its helping. Thanks for this thread though. Sadly nothing has helped yet.
  13. I couldn't find an alternatives folder or the project data file to be able to modify the "corrupt" code and I couldn't find the arturia patch file or even a folder that would have it. after 3 hours I need a break, this really stinks, and that project import thing was convenient but I need more time with that fingers crossed this is just a bad project....though I am a little afraid because another recent project is acting up too and at 800 mb
  14. dude I have spent the last 2 hours trying to literally play my project, I have left one midi instrument un frozen and bounced in place everything but kick and bass. and i can't play past 20 seconds and what do you know there are arturia software synths in this thing. the project is up to 1.08 gbs and has not gone down after all the trimming. I have maxed out latency and threading for best cpu playback. I am going to try this said work around suggest so thoughtfully by finaldiner because I have the exact same symptoms and condition with saved patches in an arturia instrument this is really unacceptable, it has made me question this daw and this MacBook Pro, and many things like this arturia plug in as well since finding this thread I can't even play this project. and I have had way more complex projects with nothing bounced in place and 128 latency with no issues and multiple plug ins at once
  15. I need to thank you again ! just implemented this how to in a studio session, and it made it so easy. it is always intimidating/distracting/non-creative figuring out super convenient things like midi knob controller assignments but your how-to was straight to the point and I was assigning midi knobs in 5 mins. this is a game changer for creativity and making your simple midi controller feel more connected. thanks David !
