  1. Though I don't have the needs of the OP, I just want to say what an excellent detailed explanation of some external MIDI data manipulation and import by @Dewdman42, and what a kind thing to do for the community. This is such a good forum.
  2. Annecdotal in case related: I had an issue with TotalMix not recognizing my UVX II with Ventura following (a) an update to RME's DriverKit driver v4.08 and (b) an otherwise inconsequential reboot. Power cycling, restarts, Audio MIDI Setup tweaks, etc. had no affect, but surprisingly disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable to the UFX fixed it with no issues since. Reporting this in case the TotalMix issue might be actually be related to some subtle DriverKit issues with both Ventura and Sonoma.
  3. Another endorsement for RME... Been using the Fireface UFX II (1U rack) for years without issue, and it also includes some pretty nice routing/control software 'Totalmix'.
  4. I'm very happy with this configuration... MIDI keyboard on the desk and computer keyboard on an under-desk rack beneath. For me both keyboard heights work out to be comfortable for their purpose. All this is on a motorized standing desk so it can lift when I want to play standing up (which is always the case when playing guitar or singing). The compromise: not a lot of empty space for notebooks, etc. so most of that gets tucked on the computer keyboard tray when needed.
  5. If you don't mind using a 3rd party plugin, I've used dearVR PRO from Plug-in Alliance to do things like this with good success. It's easy to automate the 3D coordinates and it deals with the appropriate reverb / pan / delay effects convincingly. (As with all PA products, wait for a sale to get it for $30 or so)
  6. Thanks @scg, those are great tips... I didn't realize it would show multiple highlighted colors when selecting multiple tracks. Even that will be a big help for my pitiful short term memory when trying to recall which color was highlighted for that last track... 😀
  7. Is there a command or technique for copying the color of a track (or region) to match the color already assigned to another track (or region)?
  8. Very nice, and I like your allegorical description on YT: "...professional musicians who have been working in the kitchen of Turkish music industry for many years."
  9. Slight mod pertinent to Logic 10.7.7: Changing MIDI Out Channel to 1 will address the issue with notes ≠ channel 1 already in the track (which was the case with my imported MIDI track).
  10. Some further information for posterity... Some Logic instruments (like Sampler) support MIDI Mono Mode, which allows them to process notes arriving on different channels with different pitch bend, aftertouch, modulation wheel, and controller assignment messages. It is most useful for MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) instruments (such as a MIDI guitar that can emit different notes and pitch bend information for each string). This feature can produce surprising pitch bend (and other controller) behaviors if it is enabled for an instrument (which seems to be the default) and MIDI notes are received from a channel other than channel 1. In this situation it may appear as if the instrument is ignoring its normal Pitch Bend Range setting; and indeed it is. For notes received on channels other than 1 it uses an alternate range for pitch bend, by default 48 semi-tones. MIDI messages may be recorded with non-channel 1 assignments if they were imported from an external source such as a multi-channel MIDI file (which occured in my scenario). As noted above the solution is to either turn of MIDI Mono Mode from its well-hidden location (easiest) or edit all notes so they are on channel 1. 11. Thanks @gacki, that addressed it! I don't think I would have ever figured that out! And I didn't notice that expansion menu at the bottom of the Sampler when I was combing the two instrument instances for any differences (not that I would have stood out as a difference). I've got to study that MIDI option... something new to me!
  12. I have a MIDI track (from an external source) that seems to ignore the Pitch Bend Range parameters of the Sampler. I've stripped it down to the attached very simple project with two similar tracks: 1. Correct Bend - Plays a couple of notes with a gentle pitch bend up and back, and sounds correct. 2. Wrong Bend - Plays the same two notes with same pitch bend data, but the audible effect is as if there's a 10x multiplier on the pitch bend data. AFAIK both these tracks use an identical Sampler instrument and settings (originally based on the 'Fingerstyle Bass' from the library). Could someone take a look at this and see what I'm missing, i.e. why does the second track seem to respond so differently to what should be the same pitch bend data? (And if they sound the same to you, well then it is even more of a mystery!) (Version info correct in signature) Pitch Bend Issue.logicx.zip
  13. A PSA in case someone with a Fractal Axe-FX connected to their Mac is experiencing intermittent Logic crashes (not triggered by any particular action), this posting in an Axe forum solved it for me (and others): https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/solved-logic-pro-crashing-with-axe-edit-running.190518/post-2365400 In summary: Settings > MIDI > Inputs: uncheck Axe-Fx to suppress Logic from receiving unneeded MIDI traffic from the Axe.
