  1. I should also mention that this seemingly is only happening in this one file which is even worse as I have an entire mix running in there that I won't have time to re-do the whole thing again. So any solutions will be absolutely golden
  2. Hi, I am using an M1 Max with Logic Pro X latest OS and latest version of LPX with a UAD X8 and UAD plugins. I am having a very strange issue, where whether i try to bounce any audio in place, bounce out of logic or bounce real time - nothing solves it. The audio will always bounce out of time, so when exporting a mix for a client it's completely out of time. I've done all the obvious stuff like restart my computer, Logic, check for updates, but nothing works. It's a fairly heavy session running around 75% of my CPU and 83% of my UAD DSP, but i've ran bigger sessions before and never had an issue before I thought it might be a UAD problem, so I switched out all my DSP plugins for native. No change in behaviour. Then I disconnected my UAD all together. No change. I turnt all plugins out, still not change. So at this point everything is running natively on the Mac. I then took an audio track and sent it straight to Stereo Output (bypassing all of it's correct routing) to see if this made a different.. No change in behaviour. It seems no matter what I do, when bouncing audio in place it will bounce out of time and if I try to export offline or in realtime the problem compounds and the song just goes massively out of time. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
  3. Thanks, I've checked the key commands again, and still no resolve.
  4. Hi, Anyone know why my ctrl + , or . the tab to transient function is not working? I've checked Key Commands and forward and rewind transient is set to Ctrl + , or l . respectively. I restarted logic, and my Mac and it doesn't work still. I tried turning on flex mode and add manual transient markers and the shortcut still doesn't work.. Any help is much appreciated.
  5. Hi there, I use Project Alternatives heavily in my work flow. Normally it saves in the order in which I save it, for example if I save a song with this format: MySong_Mix_010224 MySong_Mix_040224 This corresponds to the days that I worked on it, and it saves in the order in which I save the project. For some reason two projects I saved today have saved in a different order, you'll see from the screen shot, 090424 should be at the bottom as it was the most recent save. I haven't changed any settings. but it appears at the top, which is very confusing for me as I just want (as it always has done before now) to see my saves in order that I worked and saved them. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks C
  6. Thanks all. To confirm, I did tests and it does in fact work in the way I said. The VCA applied to each aux respectively lowers the output of whatever is sent into it. So for example, my 'Drums' Aux which has a VCA called Drums VCA - whatever is going into this aux, is raised or attenuated with the VCA. And so on up through my chain. P.S. For context for those asking I will explain why I asked this question and a bit about my set up: I have a hybrid system using an SSL UC1 and UF8. VCAs are important for my workflow, signal flow and routing needs - as it gives me the feel of working on a desk. When working on a desk, you may wish to bring the volume of everything down which can be done in Logic Pro X with the Master VCA as on a desk. But when needing to lower for example only the input into my final drums aux (which consist of individual elements such as a hi hat track, a room mic, as well as stacks of instruments (which are grouped together for ease of navigation and bus processing) such as multiple snares 'All Snare' aux or multiple kick drums 'All Kicks'. All of these individual tracks, group auxs as well as parallel processing sum to one place eventually. For me this is an 'All Drums' aux. To lower everything going into the 'All Drums' aux, instead of highlighting 15 different tracks of audio, I do it with a VCA. This affects how much signal goes into the 'All Drums' aux and therefore how hard all of these elements hit a compressor, for example. Also this differs significantly in function to just lowering the output volume of the aux. Same with the Music, or respective musical elements that consist of multiple parts, such as an 'All Guitars' aux. You may wish to just turn the output volume of a group/track stack/aux (however you want to think of it) down or up simply with the fader of the aux, or you may need to lower the input of all those elements into the place where they sum together so they hit processing differently. Thanks for everyones answers. Hope it helps someone else who is working in a similar way, or interested in the functionality of VCAs in Logic Pro X. C
  7. Hi, I have a question regarding VCAs and their behaviour. It's slightly complex routing, so I hope to explain the routing correctly and the question to make sense. I have a mixing template. Within this mixing template: I have multiple kick drum layers and these go to an 'All Kick' track stack/aux. I have multiple snare drum layers and these go to an 'All Snare' track stack/aux. These two track stacks 'All Kick', and 'All Snare' are output to a track stack called 'Drums'. I have other drum layers that are individually sent into this Drums track stack/aux. On the track stack called Drums, this Drums aux sends to 3 different busses of parallel processing, of which all the returns of these parallel processing auxs output to an auxiliary called 'All Drums'. So All Drums receives the Drums aux plus the 3 parallel processing auxs. I have a VCA called 'DRUMS VCA' on my 'Drums' track stack. I have another VCA called 'All Drums VCA' on my 'All Drums' track stack. I would expect when adjusting the DRUMS VCA it should adjust (lower or raise depending if I lower or raise the VCA volume fader) the level of All Kick, and All Snare track stacks that are feeding the track stack/aux called Drums. I would expect the tracks going into All Kick and All Snare to be unaffected, and only their aux's output to be lowered or raised. Then on this All Drums aux when adjusting the All Drums VCA, when I adjust the level of the All Drums VCA, I would expect the parallel processing returns and the Drums Aux feeding the All Drums aux - essentially everything the All Drums receives - to be lowered or raised? So my question is provided the above is correct, if I were to lower the 'All Drums VCA', this would not affect any of the processing on the way into the All Drums Aux (for example a compressor on the 'Drums' Aux or on the 'All Snare' Aux), the processing that would be affected would be only the processing on the 'All Drums' Aux, right - as the input level into 'All Drums' aux would be affected by adjusting the 'All Drums VCA', and in the case of lowering this VCA, all that is being lowered is the output level of the Drums Aux and the parallel processing going to All Drums AUX / the input level into the All Drums AUX, right? Thanks for your help. C
  8. Haha mate I messaged them about this last week - haven't heard anything back yet!
  9. I've messaged Mike over on the Logic team at Apple. There's many features that seem really easy to implement and would make workflows more personal to everyone so I hope they implement this.
  10. So it does seem that by setting the output with Option + Command + N, this brings up the new track dialog - and if i set the output here as a bus, it will stay as this when adding new audio tracks but not new MIDI or Auxs.
  11. Hi, When I create a new track in Logic Pro X, when i'm working within a template, I'd like for any aux or new audio or midi channel to by default, have it's output routed to Bus 31 which is the aux I use to route into my final stereo output. By default currently, all channels and auxs created are output 'Stereo Output' I checked the I/O Assignments but I don't see it. Essentially the option that Pro Tools gives you to change 'output meter path'. Thanks!
  12. Hi there, Is there a way (i've tried to figure it out with no success) that when I bounce in place for example a vocal after using Melodyne, to keep it mono rather than defaulting to giving me a stereo file? Without exporting the file out of Logic.. Just simply bounce a mono file in place, and remain in mono - not default stereo bounce in place? Thanks a lot!
  13. Hi there, When I set up I/O labels for my sends on Logic in a mixing template - it seems these labels carry over to all other files, new or old. Which isn't ideal as I don't always use the same routing. Is there a way to isolate the I/O labels to work ONLY in my mixing template and not in other files? Thank you!
  14. Hi David, Thanks for all your assistance. I only have Logic Remote available on my phone - and that is somewhat limited. I should have specified more - I'm using an SSL UF8 and I wanted to map these controls to anything (Logic Remote, Midi Controller etc) but I did find a way to do this using your advice. For anyone else who wants to use the UF8 to do this type of work the solution for me was as follows: Select the plugin bypass on the smart controls, then using controller assignments I assigned it to a soft key on page 5. Both bypasses now toggle on and off using this soft key. Thanks for everyones help, and hope this thread hasn't become confusing for other people trying to resolve this issue. Cristian
  15. To clarify, I think I'm trying to understand how to do two things: 1. map a Smart Control to a keyboard shortcut 2. map a Smart Control to a certain button on a midi controller thank you
