  1. I run Logic on my Mac but with an Avid Dock as my transport controller. This has an app that runs on an iPad in the unit, that shows the channel strip in real time, etc. I noticed with the recent Logic 10.8 update that now my meters on my dock are not updating at all. Surprisingly I have a SSL UF8 fader controller, and the meters there work just great. Is there a problem with EUCON with this update?
  2. I'm running Logic 10.8 on a Mac Pro 2019 (Intel) beast. This machine has 48GB of memory, 20+ cores, etc. Basically about 80% maxed out. Storage is on a OWC Softraid array, on an internal PCI-e enclosure with high speed Nvme drives in it. I upgraded both MacOS Ventura to the latest security patch, and then Logic to 10.8. Prior this machine didn't break a sweat on anything I threw at it. But after these upgrades, I'm getting System Overflow errors all the time (mainly with Plugins like "The God Particle" and some Waves plugins. Yes, I know - I'll contact each of the plugin manufacturers to get updates, report bugs, etc. But the biggest issue I noticed is that the Bounce speed is terrible. I used to be able to bounce a 1 hour single channel audio track with SSL plugins (Channel strip, Bus compressor) and also some iZotope De-Plosive stuff, in about 10 minutes. Now it is taking about 45 minutes. I get the feeling that the more Apple move forward with the whole Silicon Mx line up, the more likely us old Intel folk will be picking up the pieces of poor performance or untested code. Maybe I'm wrong, but this was not a good experience for me so far. Anyone with similar or contrary experiences running on Intel based hardware?
  3. Thank you. That's what I would have thought. But for some reason, the Bank select (left & right) are not doing anything with the UF8, but Logic does recognize them being pressed. I'm told from lots of other UF8 users though that this should work as designed. I will try and force the Icon Platform Nano onto a dedicated Midi channel and see if that makes sense, but I am pretty sure that the devices are conflicting over the bank select function. K
  4. After spending ages working out why some bank control buttons on my SSL UF8 were being recognized by Logic, but not doing anything, I finally found the culprit. I have a Icon Platform Nano transport controller that I bought since the SSL UF8 doesn't have a transport controller on it. And that little guy has a single fader on it, so it has a bank select button for choosing which channel strip the fader is for. That is conflicting with the bank select buttons on the UF8, which I really want to be the dominant one. I went into the Controller assignment preferences and sure enough, there are the two controllers and both have fader bank left/right assigned to them. So how do I delete the assignment for the Icon Platform Nano, so that the SSL takes over the dominant ruler of all things bank select? I can't seem to see a way to delete an assignment in Logic... K
  5. I just reached out to SSL directly on this, so I'll let you know what comes back from the support request.
  6. That's exactly my experience. I created a template with the SSL plugins as the first, and it won't bank select across beyond the first 1-8 channels. If you are experiencing the same thing, it helps me realize I'm not losing my mind on this. If you find a solution, please post it here. I'll do the same. Thanks Myles
  7. Do you have a UC1 as well? I do and I use 360 with my setup. It may have something to do with the SSL channel strip 2 plugins as well.
  8. Hi there, I have a SSL UF8 controller that I'm using with Logic. Works great, with one exception and I think it's probably either something I'm doing or a configuration setting issue, but the BANK buttons are non-functional on it. Logic shows them being pressed (left & right) when I look at the controllers preferences, so I know it is sending a signal, but after I'm done with the first 8 tracks on my recordings, pressing BANK to move to the 9-16 tracks does absolutely nothing. Same is true of the control knob, etc. I read somewhere that it had to do with all tracks needing to have the SSL plugins as the 1st plugins on the tracks, which my project does have. But still no action on the bank buttons. Anyone got any ideas who might have gone through this already? Thanks Myles
  9. I'm a bit late to the discussion here, but I'm seeing the same thing - just completed a build of a 5.1 2012 Mac Pro and went with 2 x Samsung EVO 970s in there. Shows really fast with disk tests, etc. but I'm getting Logic halting in long tracking sessions saying that the Disk is too slow. I'm wondering if I should install a SSD in there as well, and nominate it as the drive to store the tracks on? Would this be more reliable? I had a Mac Mini doing this with a SSD installed and never had this problem (I previously had it with the HDD that came in that computer, but after changing it out for a SSD the problems went away). I'm wondering if Logic has some smarts for SSD that isn't being used for NVMe drives? I have the slots to put in the disk, so no problem doing it, but wanted to reach out to the community before I put down a chunk of change on a SSD in case it won't make much difference. Any advice to increase performance here would be greatly appreciated. K
