  1. when I'm on the layout page and I want to learn a keyboard, both keyboards have the same names, and it's always screwed up after I shut down and restart mainstage. I can rename the keyboards in the audio midi setup page, but it doesn't retain those names in the mainstage layout section. any thoughts?
  2. It's actually the only solution that seems to work at the moment, so thank you for the tip. I'm sure there are a dozen ways to deal with muting the other sessions while using the one.
  3. Yeah I just tried your idea and it is in fact playing both Mainstage sessions at the same time. I guess you would have to setup one concert to be on one midi channel and the other to be on a different one.
  4. When you do that, doesn't your midi controller trigger both Mainstages at the same time?
  5. I just watched a video on Apples website where 9 inch nails is using a macbook pro to run all their keyboards, all their vocal effects, all their guitar effects. I'm sitting here saying to myself, I'm in a wedding band and I can't even get all my sounds to load in withouth my memory meter being in the Red... My question is one I asked back when Mainstage was first released, but I never got a clear answer to it. Is mainstage still a memory Hog? Is there anything I can do to make my mainstage run better with less drop outs? I don't think my setup is SOOO Huge that I should be maxing out the 4 gigs so easily, and as I understand it, the EXS32 is already running in virtual memory mode when in Mainstage. Any thoughts anybody?
  6. yep everything updated. I did a clean install of Tiger on an external firewire drive and installed logic from scratch again, and it runs just fine there. I blew out the imac a couple of months ago and did a clean install of leopard and logic and it still runs pretty slugish. The only other thing I can think of but would find it hard to believe it would be the reason is that I upgraded one of the 1 gig chips to a 2 gig chip and no longer have matched pairs as before. I can't see this being the problem but I'm a reformed PC guy, so I don't know how things responde in macs too well.
  7. controllers are sluggish, sometimes I'll click a fader and raise it and it takes a second or two to catch up, or even things like simply adjusting the bar that separates the patches from the properties on the left side to view more properties will be a little slow. I'm running on an intel 24" imac with 3 gigs of ram
  8. What F'n Stupidity to release this program. It's practically Useless and runs like it's on a windows 98 machine
  9. yeah, I've noticed the same thing. and I've upped the Ram to 3 gigs,,,,,, very little change in CPU, although memory usage is better I hate to say it, Mainstage is great, but is just not good enough to replace my environment setup..... What a drag. I don't know why they even put this out yet. Too many bugs that need to be addressed.
  10. Has anybody else noticed logic and mainstage running slower on Leopard than Tiger?? I'm running on a new intel imac 24" with 3 gigs of ram
  11. Don't know what's going on, now it does it in mainstage and logic studio, as well as my original logic express. I was doing it with the steinway grand, now it's only doing it with my White Grand.... wtf......
  12. Nobody has any thoughts? This is obviously not just me having this issue
  13. I see alot of people viewing my previous post, but nobody has any thoughts on this?? I've been able to replicate this problem with 3 different logic users. piano notes are dropping out when sustaining with pedal. It seems that the first notes played are the first to go, but I'm not exceeding polyphony which is set to 32, and it happens with pretty much all sounds. Somebody help please.... Leo
  14. I don't know how I never noticed this until now, and I could swear that this was never a problem before logic 8, but after further investigation I've discovered that this problem apparently has always been present, because I booted off one of my ext firewire drives which is an image of my HD from 5 months ago and I was able to replicate the problem .Ok here's the issue: Even with the exs set to 64 note polyphony I'm hearing the first notes played dropping out when I play long sustaining piano runs. I had my friend who's also running logic 8 try this at home and it did the same for him, so I know it's not just my setup. If any of you want to try this, simply load the steinway piano into the exs sampler, keep your foot on the sustain pedal through the entire test, and hit any low key, then play a bunch of notes up high and release your hands from the keyboard, then just listen to the sustaining notes, you will hear notes start dropping off, most likely starting with the low notes you hit first. I have tested this with all different pianos and it does the same with all, I haven't tested other sounds, but I would imagine it would do the same. I first put this under MainStage, but it does the same thing if I load the sound into Logic 8, so I figured I'd put it here.
  15. In my logic environment setup it's fine, all notes sustain indefinately while holding the sustain pedal, but in mainstage if I play a long sustained running piano run , and then release the notes while still holding the sustain pedal, the notes will drop off. I don't know if this has anything to do with the CPU threshhold setting which I have on 100%. I'm using the White Grand and my polyphony is set to 64 which is what it is in the environment. I don't know what the deal is, but this is killing me.
