  1. Do you have any idea if other P&G motorised faders can be used in place of the original ones? Apparently Mackie don't make them any more but there are the occasional spares knocking around in various places.
  2. Thanks I tried them but they've told me that the faders are made by Mackie under license so I have to contact them.... hope it doesn't turn out too pricey!
  3. Hi all Anyone got a spare fader for an MCU? It's a long shot I know but I'm trying to find a replacement for a broken fader in my Mackie Control Universal. I've got the thing removed and I can see what's wrong with it - the string has broken loose on one end and I'm completely baffled as to how I'm supposed to wrap it round the threaded end of the motor and reconnect it. So I'm looking for a new one. I think the model is P&G PGF100D Thanks!
  4. Hi Tim, thanks for taking the time to reply with your setup. Makes sense to me... do you experience any dropouts when changing patch, even though you are using the same settings for a particular keyboard?
  5. Hi all, been out of the loop for a long while because I've been gigging loads. I'm still with Mainstage 1.0.2 and not sure if there are any major differences with recent updates, but hope you can help me with this setup. I'm going to MD a show that needs 3 keyboards playing a variety of sounds. I want to know if I can use a single instance of Mainstage to do this. It will require each keyboard to have the ability to change its sound without affecting the other keyboards. Any ideas? Thanks!
  6. Thanks shivermetimbers... I've speed-read the manual and learned how to use the split and floating point settings... the problem is that I'm trying to set this up for two people playing two keyboard controllers... so I want the sounds to overlap in terms of keyboard zones, but for one of those keyboards to always use the same sound. I'm thinking that's not going to be possible... and will have to set up a channel strip for that sound in every patch in the concert.... but I'm worried about dropouts during patch changes
  7. Just to elaborate a but further... I know how to add a "concert level" channel strip.. but this over-rides any patches that would be used by the second keyboard
  8. Hi everyone Just getting used to Mainstage, which I'm setting up for a live performance. I'm setting it up for 3 keyboard players but only have two computers. One keyboardist is making up for the lack of a bassist, so only needs one sound. So... Is it possible to set up one instance of Mainstage that has a bass sound set up that responds only to the midi channel from one of the two keyboards, and doesn't change despite patch changes? Or do I have to set up the bass sound for every single patch? I hope this makes sense!!!
  9. Thank you David! I think I'm going to check out Mainstage, it looks great!
  10. Hi David. 1. This is purely for live performance... for a production of Rent. 2. Because I'm an idiot and completely forgot that program was there. Doh! I'll have a look... but I'm totally unfamiliar with it. Thanks David.
  11. Hi everyone Just wondering if anyone could give me some guidance for how to set up an environment object to split the note range from an instrument object that is going out to two channel strips (i.e LH plays bass, RH plays piano). I know I could do this by setting the key limit on the channel strip but don't want to do this as I want to use the channel strips across the whole keyboard at other times (it's a live performance environment I'm putting together). Do I need to set a transformer to do something between the instrument object and the channel strip? Thanks!
  12. You can't record into the same take folder at the same time as listening to an earlier take. The only way to do this would be to record to a new track, but you could then drop that new region into the old take folder.
  13. I've got one of those 500 series Great River preamps, it's sweeeeet! But it's killing me how cheap they are in the US compared to the UK. About $300 more for the Great River.
  14. This is a bug in Logic 8, one that I don't know how to prevent. To fix it, unpack the take folder, select the regions and use the command "Move audio to original record position". Then if you want you can repack as a take folder.
