  1. Where has scroll in play gone? I thought it used to be in the view menu. Ah, it is. Just looking at the wrong view menu.
  2. My iMac was recently restored after having a defective logic board (a cpu to the likes of me - I think). Things are are now difficult. When I try to save one of my recovered logic files I get a large amount of messages along the following lines; You don’t have permission to save the file “vox#01.wav” in the folder “Audio Files”. Help! Also, I now have a lot of logic oriented files ending in .pst and .mid. and .caf and .patch and cut and fab and xml dotted around the place. How do I find out the logic architecture so I know where to put these things? Help2! Any suggestions welcome.
  3. Good suggestion. Focusrite pro 24 is old (excellent piece of kit apart from the planned obsolescence) and apparently doesn't work with Ventura, which the apple store kindly installed without asking me when they replaced the chip which has seemingly been defective since I bought this mac mini in 2020. Unfortunately there is also, I am told by apple, a mystery software problem which is likely to kill my mac again if I try a time machine restore. So its my fourth trip to the apple store in as many weeks and not a second of work done in the meantime. If only I had stuck to PC...
  4. The OS was updated by the apple shop when they replaced the logic board. Pro 24 is not visible in audio/midi setup, but it is visible in system settings under firewire. Driver is, I assume, saffire mixcontrol, which just says no hardware connected when I try to open it.
  5. My Mac mini has been repaired by having a new logic board fitted, so it is virtually new. I have reinstalled logic x but now the mac does not recognise my focus rite pro 24 interface. any ideas why and what I can do about it?
  6. what do the L and M columns do in the event list editor? Haven't founf any mention in the user guide.
  7. Apologies for not replying sooner. Well I did, but my reply seems to have disappeared. The gist was that I have tried the various approaches to key focus, including there being none at all when there is just the main window open. As to the command i am trying to use, that doesn't really come into it because the error messages start up before I have done anything except switch on. The breaking news though is that the problem has fixed itself. Logic remote on the ipad AND the iphone are working fine, so the problem, whatever it was, seems to have been with Logic pro itself, but I can't imagine what I had switched on, or off, that I shouldn't have. All part of the wacky digital world.
  8. I have been having this problem too (and banging on about it another thread). I was trying to use my iphone for Logic remote and getting the constant message Command not available because the focused view does not support this command. So I bought an ipad instead. And it's still happenning. This is beginning to be less than humorous. Any ideas anyone?
  9. THANK YOU everyone. That’s all useful stuff.
  10. Seems you're not far behind. Mine's an ipad air A1474, which is telling me Logic remote needs to be updated to be compatible with current Logic. So, it's off to the app store, where I am offered a previous version of Logic Remote because my ipad is too old. And the newly installed older version of Logic Remote is too old for the current Logic. Is this sort of information available - compatible software versions, or must I take a stab in the dark and try buying a, say, 2019 ipad?
  11. I am running Logic 10.7.4 on Monterey 12.5.1 on a mac mini. I would like to use Logic Remote on my 2013 ipad air, but its too old to run a version of Logic Remote compatible with Monterey. Before I buy a slightly less old ipad, how can I find out; What is the oldest version of Logic Remote compatible with my up to date Logic Pro. What is the oldest version of iOS compatible with that version of Logic remote? What is the oldest ipad which can be upgraded to that version of iOS? Am I perhaps doing this the hard way?
  12. I too am having a little trouble with my first venture into control surfaces and midi mapping. i suspect that I am going to have to learn about midi stuff. More than just the 128 controller numbers. but where to go to get the info? I have just bought the worlds cheapest midi controller, a Donner Starrypad. £55. But if I can get it mapped to logic it will be all I need, for now at least. i find the instruction in the logic user manual impenetrable.
  13. I have never used Mainstage because I haven’t been involved in many live performances, but the time has come and I would like to use Mainstage so I can use Logic’s sounds which are better than those in my portable keyboard. My old and almost defunct imac has a copy of mainstage which I think was there when I started out in 2009, but that version is too old for my shiny newish (August 2020) Mac mini. So I went to the App Store where they want £25.99 (ok we can live with that) for a version of Mainstage which is incompatible with my Mac Mini. It needs macOS 11.5 and I’m on 10.15.7. (I noticed the reviews aren’t too favourable while I was there). Also I see from this forum that Mainstage 3.6 is susceptible to crashing so 3.5 might be a better option. What is my best upgrade for both OSX and Mainstage or am I better off forgetting it?
  14. Let's try again. Does anyone know how to get good orchestral sounds generally, and much you can expect to pay for the privilege?
  15. I have been using Logic x for a few years but I still have my DVD copy of Logic 9, including its 8 discs of content. Does anyone know if there is anything in that content which is unavailable to new Logic 10 users, or can I confidently dispose of it?
