  1. Hi Thanks for the link. Tried all those. 1. Adding MIDI region either creates a new MIDI region when I bounce OR just creates silence BEFORE the existing audio clip. It doesnt extend the audio from the back of the clip to the end. 2. Using Edit/Insert-Cut Time just shuffles the project up/down the timeline. It doesnt actually add any addition audio region time. I just cant believe how difficult this is proving. Surely I must be doing something wrong. I also use Studio One and it is One click and one keystroke to do exactly this. And it must be something lots of people do. Exporting stems really needs for all exported tracks to be the full length of the song to get them lined up together and on the grid. Please tell me I am missing something basic here as I have a lot of Logic projects I now need to get out as stems in this way. Many thanks Mark
  2. Hi I am wanting to export my audio files for use in another application. (IE as Stems) I would like to make all audio regions the same length; the full length of the song, so that it is easier to line everything up. I cant find a way to extend the start and end of my audio regions to the start / end of the song. Obviously this involves adding areas of 'silence' to the regions which is fine, so long as they all span the full length of the song. Can anybody help pls? Thank you Mark
  3. IO Plugin?? That sounds interesting. Not heard of such a thing, can you suggest one pls?
  4. O thats it then! Thank you guys for helping me avoid wasting time on trying the software route. Over to Amazon to have look...
  5. Yeah I guess I could get a switch box but I wanted to minimise the amount of gear on my desk and use the outputs of my Audio IF routed and switched in the DAW if possible.
  6. Hi I am looking to run a second set of monitors on my audio IF, which I can hook up no problem, so that I can run AB comparison on 2 sets of monitors. Question is, Can I either A Switch the Stereo Out output channel? (The Stereo Out channel appears to not have any way of defining the output target) or B. Create a second stereo out channel somehow. If so, is there a quick way to assign my stereo mix to that stereo channel? I realise I can do it with a Bus and set the output to the required outs of my audio IF. But that means I have to set up a send on every channel on the mix and send to that bus. Is there a quicker/easier way? Many thanks Mark
  7. Ahhhh! Yes, thank you. Great idea.
  8. Hi I am clearly misunderstanding the purpose/intended use for the 'relative' option when doing volume automation. What I WANT to do is set a 'relative' increase in certain important sections of a vocal take so that, obviously it is a bit louder. But I have not finished my overall mix yet so the fader level for that vocal channel may change when I get done. But what I was HOPING for was that no matter what volume level I set the channel fader to, the automation would provide the same quantity if increase on top of what ever the fader is set to. In other words, for example, 2db of gain relative to whatever the fader is set to. That is what I would call relative. But that is not what it seems to do. Can someone help me understand and maybe help achieve what I want. What I dont want to have to do is to change my automation every time I make a tweak to the fader setting in the mix. Hope that makes sense Thanks Mark
  9. Hi David No never. This was literally as I was working on a single project. Doing nothing out of the ordinary as far as I could tell. Maybe moving a region or editing a bus. I really dont remember as it was just a normal session. i would have not posted anything and just put it down to 'one of those things', but it has happened twice now within a week. Both times it has taken me many hours to get back to where I was. Now I am an obsessive saver, dong Cmd S after virtually every operation. It is not conducive to relaxed working! Cheers mark
  10. Hi This has happened twice now so it must be a problem. During a long (wish) period of working on a project, for no real reason, all my bus routing will get completely scrambled. Groups will be bussed to the wrong place, channels will be bused incorrectly, channels will have outputs to VCA that should not be there. It becomes a total mess. This happened last week and it took me all day to get my session back to where it was. I put it down to a power glitch (although there wasn't one and I am using a laptop anyway). It has just happened again today. First I notice is that whilst listening to tracks for editing, tracks will just drop out of the mix. Has anybody else experienced this? I never had ANY issues like this ever with 10.4 I am thinking it has to be a bug in 10.5.1 Any thoughts please? Mark
  11. Really? Oh you disappoint me, I thought they hung on my every word.
  12. Hey FF Well not such a huge deal I accept, just that it has been something that I have seen people complain about for such long time. This thread even goes back quite a time. And given it can be done in the environment, one would think it can be done in the main window without too much trouble. I raise it more as a way to hopefully continue to bring it to the attention of Apple. I am sure that this site, being so well know, is monitored by Apple to some extent. Maybe they are listening? For now I continue to use Logic, it has many great features and I know it a lot better than any other DAW. And the prospect of learning a new DAW is not one I relish. Having said all that I do wish the 10.5 release had not been so EDM focused. Ah well, maybe 10.6 Thanks for being there with tips and advice when we need it. Take care Mark
  13. Hi This seems to happen a lot so I was hoping there will be a workflow to help. When doing multiple vocal takes within a take folder, the volume levels often dont match up between takes. When coming to do the swipe-comp comparison process, the takes with the lower volume may well be the best from a performance perspective but just sound 'different/wrong' due to the level change. Is there a way to level up all the volumes of takes within a take folder, whilst still in the take folder. I realise I can extract them all and normalise regions, but then they are not in my take folder for swipe comping etc. Or is there a way to; take them out of the take folder, normalise them, then put them back to the take folder so I can continue swipe comping on the newly normalised takes? Many thanks Mark
  14. This has been a bug bear of mine for ages. Why Logic fails to give the flexibility of having channels laid out as I want them, independently of how my tracks are laid out. I recently started looking at Presonus Studio One and that also has full drag and drop flexibility for track layout. Seems every other DAW but Logic does it. Which is strange given Apple’s great reputation for ease of use etc. I am currently using Logic for a project I have been working on for a while but once this is done I will seriously consider looking at other options. Not least because I was so disappointed in the 10.5 release. Seemed to cater almost entirely for the EDM sector. Nothing much in there for traditional music makers IMO. In the meantime, thanks to all the LPHelp folks for a wonderful service.
  15. Hi Thanks for the quick reply. Well, yes that does resolve the problem of reverb bleeding into my main mix if I solo the vocals. But I dont see why that should happen. Reason. The 2 Aux channels that are solo safe are used for Aux sends for Cue/Monitor mixes to completely separate outputs of my audio IF. They go nowhere near the main stereo output. And further, I do need them to be solo safe so that I can solo tracks during recording without disrupting the musicians cue mix. I would have expected the solo safe to apply to the Aux channels it is set on but still allow soling on any other aux channels that are not solo safe. Instead it seems solo safe is working in a global way. BTW, I am listening only on the main stereo output and getting this behaviour. The cue/monitor mix channels are muted as I am currently not recording, just previewing. Thanks again Mark
