  1. Sorry, I'm confused - how do I select the empty channel strip? I'm wondering if the "remembering" function is what threw me in the first place. I always use ⌥⌘S to create new MIDI tracks and I couldn't for the life of me remember specifying an Electric Piano in the first place.
  2. That's one too many clicks for my carpal tunnel Actually just found the solution I was looking for here: viewtopic.php?t=141339#p729903
  3. Rather than starting with an electric piano and several inserts (my current settings), I want new software instruments to load up completely clean. What I've tried: 1. Load up new software instrument track 2. Clear all insert / send / instrument settings from new track 3. Right click on track -> "Store as User Defaults" However, when I then create another software instrument track, it's the same electric piano. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
  4. Huh. Gotta say I'm glad I had this issue. Selection-Based Processing seems really useful and I'm not sure I would've discovered it otherwise!

  6. Ok, so it looks like I indeed have three solo-safe tracks receiving input via Bus 2 (the problematic summing stack). "Selection-based Processing A", "Selection-based Processing B" and "Prelisten". I'm unclear why these would be receiving input from Bus 2 since I didn't knowingly assign them. Perhaps I did it unintentionally when I was setting up the project? Should I reassign their inputs or ⌃+click their solo buttons as you mentioned? Also, any insight into what these 3 tracks accomplish would be greatly appreciated :) Best!
  7. Bus 256 is my Sub Mix, I route all group busses there before sending them onto the stereo outs. Not sure I know what you mean by "solo-safe" but it sounds like I probably should!
  8. I’m confused. I have a kick/bass summing stack and for some reason whenever I solo a track in this group all the other instruments in the group keep playing. But just in the group! All the other tracks in the project mute as expected. And FWIW, none of my other summing stacks exhibit this issue. Every other track in the project works solos normally. I double checked - each of the tracks in the Bass/Kick summing stacks is assigned to a discrete channel in the inspector. I’ve attached a screenshot of the mixer and labelled it with possibly relevant information, but I’m totally confused. What did I do!?? Thanks for any help! It’s driving me crazy that I can’t solo these tracks while I fiddle with their respective sound design.
  9. Lol good to know! I won't wish too hard I did notice however that the tracking responds well (for my Wacom at least) in the Piano Roll editor...
  10. I find this to be a terribly useful feature but for whatever reason the tracking speed when using my Wacom tablet is fast to the point of unusable. Is there a way to slow it down? Also, does it have a name? I can't even remember where I discovered it. Thanks!
  11. Apple's generous 90-day trial and the community here has me convinced I went ahead and purchased Logic yesterday (60 days early) and am eagerly awaiting my activation email. Apparently I will need to download and reinstall the new version and this is where my question comes in: I've made substantial preference and key command changes. Will these be preserved when I reinstall the full version? Ableton indeed preserves all preferences but I want to double check before assuming anything. If not, what's the recommended procedure for backing them up? Thanks!
  12. Ok, this works! I think I get it now. BTW that arrow key selection trick you're using is solid gold
  13. If it happens again I'll load up MIDI Monitor and see if there are any errant messages
