  1. I have side chained One ProC2 to DMD... The *exact* software instrument track was duplicated. Then the Two Pro C2 Compressors are placed side-by-side... Latency is confirmed! It can be seen that there is Latency - anyone/everyone can see it for theirselves! 👀 See the Two screenshots below: This is in real-time (no bip). The meters on Pro C2 - should be synchronised exactly - because the Two Compressor settings are *identical* This process would usually show that the side-chaining is working correctly. It obviously isn't! Just what in the "Blue Blazes" is going on here?
  2. LPX: 10.8.1 macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 iMac Retina 5k, 27-inch, 2019 (1TB Internal SSD: 293.71 GB of 950.24 GB used.) Processor: 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 Graphics: Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB Memory: 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 External memory: 1TB Samsung X5 This is my set-up - for the examples I have shown above - just a very, very basic set-up. see below: I would then Bounce In Place (bip), (not shown in screenshot), the two side-chained serums (i.e.: FabFilter's Pro C2), that are side chained to Bus 1 (DMD) All very basic stuff... Please get back to me... in fact: Could I see other LPX examples of 'Latency', 'PDC', etc. when using similar methods, i.e.: people who use Logic on a regular basis. I need to verify if *I'm doing something wrong* - or is it the 'DAW', 'Plugin manufacturer', etc.
  3. LPX 10.8.1 Sonoma 14.3.1 Hello, Can somebody *official* please tell me if the PDC has been fixed or not? I have conducted simple testing by way of instantiating Two ‘Xfer Serum’ instruments & Two Compressors (FabFilters Pro C2), in parallel and side-chained this to ‘drum machine designer’. (Software Instrument Tracks) I then “Bounced in Place” (bip), a simple sine wave. The bottom sine wave is out by 4 Ticks! (It can be seen in the screenshot below) - that is a substantial amount! You can also see in the other screenshot (Two Pro-C2 Compressors that are side-by-side) that the meter is not synchronised! The meter on the left is red - and the meter on the right is not visible. (both of these compressors have the exactly the same settings.) Why is this a problem? Who is to blame here - Apple or FabFilter? Is this ever going to get fixed - do other DAW's have this problem? - please, please, please enlighten me. This is very frustrating!
  4. Hey there... thanks for that. I thought that there may have been some complications in regard to the Mac OS's - and that is why I thought I'd check here first.
  5. LPX: 10.8.1 iMac Retina 5k, 27-inch, 2019 (1TB SSD) Processor: 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 Graphics: Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB Memory: 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 MacOs Ventura 13.6.4 External memory: 1TB Samsung X5 Hi, I don’t know if this is the right place to post this question: I have a dual / Quad? boot (well actually I have Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Ventura) on my iMac. I wish to delete “Catalina & Big Sur” - but leave “Ventura & Mojave”. I wish to keep Mojave BECAUSE I have some very useful 32bit Mixing-Desks (and other personal reasons), that are still fully operational on Mojave. Is it an easy process to delete - because I want to “free-up” memory on my internal SSD Basically, I want to keep “Ventura & Mojave” & DELETE “Catalina & Big Sur” Also, I may now be tempted to upgrade to Sonoma 14.3.1, after reading that this Mac OS completely solved the flashing Project Window in Logic Pro 10.8.1. Thanks
  6. Hmmm... that's a shame. I could set up TUNING in the automation lanes (for 3rd party software instruments - when I am SURFING for suitable sounds). I just thought I would be able to do that in the Software Instrument Pitch / Tune. Never mind. Thank you
  7. Hello, When I click: Settings > General > Tuning > Software Instrument Pitch / Tune - as I adjust the cents / Hz - this command controls and applies to Logic Stock plugins only (Alchemy, Retro Synth, etc.). I have Serum and other 3rd party software instruments that feature in my Composition/Song as well. How do I make the Software Instrument Pitch (on the “Tuning” page) apply to *ALL* of the software instruments - so they tune / de-tune all together. Because as I stated above: Alchemy & Retro synth will TUNE - but, Serum and other 3rd party Software Instruments do not! What do I have to do - what am I missing? Is there some special command I have to enter - so they all tune together? Thanks
  8. Now on Logic 10.7.9: Okay… This is how I *USUALLY* set up a side-chain... Again, using Logic’s "Electronic" template - and this time with FabFilters, Pro C2! I duplicate Big Room (DMD in yellow), and change: "St Out" to “No Out.” See below: Then, instantiate Two Compressors on: Anthemic Lead & Epic Synth: Set the side-chain to Bus 7 (top right-hand corner) and "Ext" (highlighted in yellow - above "Audition") bottom left-hand corner. Now I have the two tracks, i.e.: Anthemic Lead & Epic Synth - being side-chained from the "duplicate Big Room" (which has been set to "No Out") " What are you on about??? " 😎
  9. I am still waiting for confirmation (via diagrammatical representation), from "boneswald" that I have correctly interpreted his method for side-chaining...?? In the meantime, would anybody care (please!) to decipher "boneswalds" perspective on side-chaining and post an illustrated blow-by-blow account of "boneswalds" method in a clear-cut and concise manner. It shouldn't take too long! I wish to know if this correct? Please confirm. BTW, I am now on: 10.7.9. In the meantime I would like to leave you with this: " It is an issue, where the plugin delay compensation of channel strips get messed up, when using external sidechain-inputs in certain plugins like a compressor (in combination with time-based FX on the same channel), therefore the delay compensation getting out of time in proportion to the amount of latency, the other plugins on the channel are inducing (like Limiters or Linear Phase EQs for example). Its a long existing bug (4+ years minimum), but Apple seems to just not have the ability to fix it, otherwise they probably would have done it already. At least I hope, it is not a matter of disinterest from their side, because for me it is by far the most annoying bug in Logic's entire history. "
  10. The duplicated track ‘Big Room” (which I have set to ’No Output” is on “Bus 7”. In the Top Right Hand corner of the compressor, I have assigned “Bus 7” I have assigned the "whole drum track" (from a stack) - to the compressor - SURE, I can assign just an individual instrument (e.g.: the kick drum), if I wanted to You're not making sense... Try explaining yourself via diagrammatic representation - before you give me advice. is that through a "Bus send" or direct through the "Output" i.e.: " No Output Please show me what you mean - after all a picture speaks a thousand words...
  11. Hello, I just wanted some confirmation on "boneswald" method for side-chaining. Hopefully this should clarify the method he explains. Please feel free to correct me, if I am wrong in my interpretation. I shall use one of Logics Templates as an example (electronic) I duplicate Big Room (DMD in yellow) see below: I proceed to change O/P, to: “No Out” (see above) On “Bus 3” I have instantiated a Compresser. The duplicated track ‘Big Room” (which I have set to ’No Output” is on “Bus 7”. In the Top Right Hand corner of the compressor, I have assigned “Bus 7” I have set the Bus on Epic Synth to “Bus 3” And now we have side-chaining… Is this what the OP was trying to explain? Thanks...
  12. Bump: Bumping MY OP’S because although 'boneswald' meant well, their last post was nothing to do with what I’m describing - and they should have started their own discussion (which I see they have done.) I just want to know about similar experiences and solutions to my OP - because this is very important. Thank you for understanding.
  13. Hello, Thanks for replying… I incorporate these techniques into my workflow (from what you described), very often - especially for side-chaining! However, the side-chaining scenario, I described in my previous post was just ONE example. I own Soothe2, Split EQ, Pro L2, bx_XL V2, Leapwing Root One… to name but a few of the plugins I have in my arsenal. I have many more, but I’m not going to list them all :) Anyway, the fact of the matter is: This hasn’t been fixed (for a very long time), which indicates that maybe: “It can’t be fixed.” (Apple would have done it by now - would they have not?) I mean, we’re talking about Apple here (a Trillion Dollar company!) I’m as infuriated as everybody else by Apple’s lack of urgency to fix this ‘obstacle’ (and that is what it is: actually; it’s a ******* HEADACHE), because they (Apple), are always coming out with this-that-and-the-other for LPX (“We’ve done this; We’ve done that; bug fixes; etc., etc., ad infinitum.”), but they overlook / neglect a very basic requirement such as this - this is an absolute necessity for “crying out loud!” It’s like having a state-of-the-art, super, sports car - but, according to the manufacturer, there is ONLY One problem: “It hasn’t got a reverse gear!” Exactly… “You know what I”m talking about!” 😎 LOL I changed from Pro Tools to Logic Pro (Four years ago) - and now, it looks like I will have to change again! :(
  14. This has always puzzled me and one thing to keep in mind when using Logic and side-chaining Plugins: is that it doesn't account for the large amount of latency it introduces (Logics problem!) So if you use this technique to duck bass frequencies for example from the kick - it’s noticeably out of time. Certain Plugin manufacturers, *repeatedly* point this out! So… Has this been fixed on this updated LPX? Will it ever be fixed? IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED - otherwise (in all honesty) LPX is finished basically! Edit//: And… I have read that this has not been fixed. From what i have read it’s been a *bug* for quite some time. I REALLY HOPE it gets fixed as it makes side-chaining any plugin that requires delay comp a MAJOR problem!
