  1. i will try and not boost the low end, just decresease the mids and increase the volume. maybe that'll do it!
  2. thanks for the answers! i am using a second bus to get a reverb rumble on the kick. i do compress it after distorting(amping) and saturating it. i solved my problem by changing the original sample for a more punchy one. buuut, i feel like most samples i have peak at 80-100 hz and i feel like a good 50hz boost wold make it crazy! anyone know a good deep kick sample pack? how common is 808 sub layering on a kick?
  3. i do multiband distortions with the trash 2 thingy and am not distrting the low frequencies
  4. hey guys, ive been trying to make effective techno kicks these last few weeks and whenever i distort it (both the dry signal and a reverb rumble) i feel that the lower frequencies become a bit messy. i usually saturate the kick then distort it and on both channels (dry bus and reverb bus) then join the on a single kick channel and mix it (compress etc) however when i boost the low signals on the eq they become a bit messy> i do hp/lp the reverb. To bypass this today i used an 808 with all frequencies above 60 hz cut and cut the low frewuencies on the kick at 60hz. it sounds better... but i think there has to be a way to get the kick deep on its own while distorting it. any suggestions?
  5. i messed with the compressors a lot no to avail. i feel like this could only be fixed by using some "look ahead function"in which there would be a gain reduction before the onset of the sound itself. i achieved this by using a limiter on the track, though i feel like this deprived the kick of some bass. if anyone has more suggestions, please post
  6. hey guys, im fairly new to compression and i cant really understand how to avoid the first note peak in a song. Im getting a solid 2 db difference between my first note and latter ones on a kick track. anyone know a way around this?
  7. hey so i guess in figured it out on my own... it was real rooky stuff basically all i did was bus the kick a lot and delay it in logc (wet only) then i multiband distorted two buses with the same settings and sidechained the dealyed instance to the original kick bus, then i joined them on a single bus and phat fxd it to boost the bass. not 100% pleased with the results yet but i will mess with logic's inner fx plugins til i get the perfect kick.
  8. hey guys, newbie with some trouble here. Ive been trying to improve my music production and found most youtube tutorials for logic very lacking. Basically have been trying to recreate ableton techniques in logic and/or 3rd party plugins. Ive come across this great tutorial: however, i have become stuck in the sidechaining compression on the wet delayed saturated portion of the kick. anyone got any advice on how i would go about doing so? my route has been - kontakt kick - saturation - direct it to two aux (one normal saturated and another delay +wet only saturated) and then run it through a multiband distortion plugin. it sounds good but i feel like something is lacking. also, how would i go about recreating the drum buss in this video? any logic plugins that can do the same?
