i wonder if it's worth going through system upgrade at this stage if it might not... not looking forward to dealing with notarisation, etc... Are all those issues solved in the last Catalina update?

so does 10.6 actually resolve the issue? I'd need to update OS which I'm reluctant to do but this issue has plagued me enough

Can you guys who are seeing this issue see if this happens in long regions? I'm working in a region that is 79 bars long and I've not had the issue once while working in it I then copied a portion of that region, 1.2 bars and the issue is occuring...maybe there's a region length at which this issue stops occurring?

so you're saying the it lights up and it goes off by itself, then are you reproducing it. this is exactly the problem. if it happens to light just as the playhead goes off the screen then the view follows the playhead. if your playhead always stays in view then it won't auto scroll and this bug won't impact you but it's a bug nonetheless. i see on peoples logic tutorials on youtube the catch button with a mind of it's own because the user cycles an area and the entire cycle is in view, the page doesn't scroll and these people aren't complaining. but the catch playhead bug is certainly visible

sorry, this is not useful, it's definitely clear from reading this thread that we have tried all these things. I've been using logic for about 17 years, since Emagic days..and this is a newer issue that has been around for about 2 years now...this issue is present even in 10.5.1 - Nice new features, same old bugs!! We need them to pull a "Snow Leopard" on Logic..a few years of fixing and refining

i'm with you man, this is so frustrating - i'm currently editing drums for an entire song and this is driving crazy and has been for YEARS I also wish there was a way to just completely deactivate it there's an obsession with following playhead where you have zero option to deactivate, e.g. Da Vinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, etc..

as mentioned i use iCloud Drive and still want that indexed but have now turned off indexing for the audio files folder for each song, that should help yea the networking is quite simple to solve 16GB RAM & SSD in Macbook Pro... well i can say that in my case, spotlight and networking do have an impact Monitoring activity monitor I can see "mdworker" and also "cloudd" increasing the CPU usage as I create new audio files when recording with logic It happens temporarily but enough to raise the cycles on just one core/thread, so then the fans spin up momentarily to cool that core down. I then have to wait until it stops (minute) then record next take, etc.. Disabling Network means iCloud can't sync so that solves one problem - my audio recordings go straight to iCloud Drive So that leaves Spotlight indexing the new audio files which spikes mdworker process And all you need is 1 core to heat up enough to cross a threshold for the fans to spin up - 6 or 8 cores makes zero difference overall, the others can be doing nothing and be cool So a cooling pad can run at a low speed, tolerable noise level and potentially keep the case cool enough to prevent the fans spinning up There's some useful support articles describing how logic distributes load but anyone using logic has probably already seen these I believe there's more that apple can do to improve the situation, like spreading the load better, system vs logic E.g. when starting logic, why does the dock freeze when clicking a different app and some other things get slow - seems to indicate that the load isn't distributed too well even though they appear to be multi-threaded..

Has anyone tried "Cooling or Chill Pads"? Something that temporarily disables spotlight, some networking things which disables icloudd syncing I often turn off networking for this but spotlight is another one that needs controlling

i guess everyone works differently so I may not come across your particular issue my zoom workflow is CMD+DRAG to zoom window, CMD+CLICK to jump back one level And ALT+SCROLL to zoom in/out either vertically or horizontally I tell you another thing that drives me crazy when using the magic mouse is when clicking to move a note or region and the page scrolls beneath

i hear you on the catch side of things - haven't noticed any issues with zoom though, what's happening?

I'm at the end of my tether with this issue, a problem for years!! how do many others not come across this? I mean it's not even possible to keep it active (all options on) and scroll the piano roll without it turning off automatically I didn't see this improve in 10.5 so am back on 10.4.8 for now Logic team you're causing me so much pain - I like what they've done in 10.5 but now please spend the next 3 years fixing bugs like this!!! I like logic but this is ridiculous
