  1. cool. oh, i meant to tell you; i charge $100 a gig to show you how to restore your available memory, so, let's see: 80 GB x $100...........
  2. check the trash. also, try a reboot... Rebooting did the trick. 80 GB more available space Thanks!
  3. Correction! Logic created aliases to the new sound library location, so it did remove the library from the original location. Strange thing is that the amount of available free space didn't change.
  4. I also went to Big Sur so I could update to Logic 10.7. All plugins were successfully validated (some I had to validate manually afterwards). Also downloaded all the new content, which is quite a lot. Logic didn't recognize that I already had content installed from previous Logic versions and wanted me to download everything again. That didn't fit on my Macbook's SSD, so I relocated the library to an external drive before installing the new content. I noticed that after relocating the sound library, the content was not removed from the original location. Was that always the case or is that a new 'feature'?
  5. monterey drops on the 25th, so big sur has been around for a year now; i had no issues with it (with my many 3rd-party apps), and everything is great on monterey. all this on an intel mac. Thanks! Sounds like I could go ahead then and update. Don't feel like checking every manufacturer to see if they're up to speed with Big Sur.
  6. I'm still on Catalina and I normally upgrade to the next MacOS when an even newer MacOS arrives. But I might install Big Sur ahead of time to be able to use Logic Pro 10.7. Not so much interested in Dolby Atmos, but more the other enhancements that are present in 10.7. Is there a list somewhere where I can check software/hardware compatibility for Big Sur on an Intel Mac? I saw the pinned document for M1 compatibility. Or is pretty much every plugin running smoothly now on Big Sur?
  7. Try Command-R in update section of App Store.
  8. Yeah, it's good to let the students experience how routing and mixprocesses actually work, so that they're understanding what they're doing and can solve issues better when they arise.
  9. That makes more sense indeed, David. Thanks. It's all more theoretical anyway as you would normally use a de-esser plugin or the sidechain filtering from Logic's Compressor, but always good to be flexible
  10. Thanks David, but you're not using the same routing as I did. In your example, the compressor is on the stereo output, while in my example, the compressor is on the source track. So if you can make it work with the routing I used, I'd love to know how
  11. Thanks, it was a way to practice and understand sidechain routing for that student. The compressor in Logic 9 doesn’t have a built-in sidechain filter if I remember correctly.
  12. The student actually uses Logic Pro 9, but also in Logic Pro X 10.6 I couldn't get it to work.
  13. A student tried to create a manual de-esser by sending a signal to a bus via a send, put a Channel EQ with high frequency boost on that aux channel, send the output of that aux track to another bus (and mute it) and select that bus in the Compressor plug-in. Nothing happens, no compression takes place. Is this a bug or am I overlooking something? If I duplicate the audio channel with the audio region and put the Channel EQ on that and select that channel as a sidechain input in the Compressor on the original channel, it all works as expected.
  14. On a positive note: I like the 10.6 update so far
  15. I hope that you can soon edit patterns in the Step Sequencer on the Launchpad, just like you can via the Remote app now on an iPad/iPhone.
