I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I'm a newbie and trying to avoid some unnecessary, poorly selected steps in getting up and running. I recently bought an Akai MPK 249 to use for all my keyboard/controller needs. Seems like a solid keyboard with plenty of options. At any rate, learned very quickly that I have access to nothing but the sounds I'm currently using on GarageBand to finish a project (before I move over to Logic Pro and begin the long learning process) as Ableton is NOT supported on my Apple computer (would have been nice if they actually said this upfront!!). My question: are the midi sounds that are available through Logic Pro enough or is their a midi sounds program (sorry for the poor terminology) that I should consider purchasing? One thing is for sure, the sounds available through GarageBand are just not going to get the job done for me, so I really need to get a program that offers even basic stuff like Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass, Electric Fretless, strings that somewhat sound like strings, and woodwinds that at least somewhat approximate their original's sound. If LogicPro is the ticket, then I need to immediately convert to that. Thanks for any direction you can give me here. Like I said, I'm a total newb (and an old guy!), so I'm really starting out from the ground floor.
