  1. Hmmm. I just tried it with exactly those settings (as far as I can see) but I have to set the tempo up 50% for it to be right.(180 gives a bar that lasts 2 seconds). Might have done something wrong
  2. http://www.boldersounds.net/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&products_id=82 Freebie that's halfleft. Better late than never...
  3. Is it EWI stuff? Breath control governs volume if it is....
  4. Being an alto player,I much prefer sharps to flats. Alto keys are always sharper so not only are we used to them but there are saxophonic reasons to prefer them. Seven sharps is way easier than five flats. And technically it should be Csharp, not Db anyway. Playing with guitarists you're always in E,A and D so it's not unusual to think in those sharp keys.
  5. I theink he means F7add9,♯11,add 13.(F13♯11)
  6. Still an Fmaj 7. You've just opened up the voicing. But context is everything. What's the bass player doing?
  7. Harmonically G is V of C. F is I where C is V. G is to C as C is to F. F is effectively a subharmonic. A string whose fundamental is C will have G as its 2nd harmonic, suggesting that a string which is 1.5 times longer would have C as its 2nd. That's why the movement down a fifth (or up a 4th) is the strongest harmonic movement. Pile fifths on top of each other and the first 6 give all the notes of the diatonic scale bar the 4th. Experiment and do some sums.
  8. Not really. If you're in C and there's an A7 chord, then technically at that point you're in D,A7 being the dominant of D,but more often than not it's used as a tonally different colour, while still being VI of C.Stick some extensions on and the interchangeability is more obvious. A7b10,b9,b13 gives a flatter tonality more akin to C.See?
  9. Usually,a piece is in a key. That means everything. Except atonal stuff. But anything goes. (in Bb).
  10. When a conductor gives a tempo it's a succession of step changes. You could do step changes at higher res,but it;s still step changes. In bands it's probably the drummer...
  11. Because it's mapping beats, not an infinite number of subdivisions.
